Just got back from Maui and wow is this thing killer. So much beefier than the Hawaiian Slings I saw out there. I also love the way it breaks down for packing/transporting.

The pole and case are very good for a travel set. I would buy again. The paralyzer tip is good for lion fish and that's about it. I can't even tell you how many hog snapper I miss before I switch to my trusty tip from my speargun and start slaying them. I've tried the tips that come with this and cannot recommend them.

It is a great spear. I spearfish fresh water and i can easily take it hiking or backpacking. Its durable and super light. The only downside is the case it comes in is kinda p00py.

I have had so much fun with this spear. I've used it at full length and with 2 sections, it performed very well. It seems neutrally Boyant filled with air and was really fast. Pretty heavy when filled with water. Fits nicely in my dive bag. The only thing I'm concerned about is I hope the threaded ends hold up, seem fine but aluminum threads aren't that durable.

Fish can wiggle off the 3 prong tip and escape, you must be very close to the fish to penetrate. The product is well made compact in the case and works well, but personally, I prefer my speargun!

I bought 2 pole spears and a travel gun, and go spearfishing 2-3 times per week. I have taken more fish with my jbl travel pole spear than anything else. I really appreciate how small it takes down to. I can easily stuff it in a backpack and go. the three prong tip that comes with it is perfect for reef fishing small to mid size fish. My girlfriend even managed to get a great Parotfish yesterday morning with three prongs in the head/gills. Only Con is it's made of aluminum. I don't believe aluminum to be a great material for salt water. Despite freshwater cleaning and maintenance, i know this spear will only last so long. I also purchased a carbon polespear at the same time and enjoy this one as well, however it doesn't break down as small so the JBL is the one that i prefer.

Great Spear. Perfect for traveling. The 6' measurement is without the tip, so it can be roughly 7 ft, or 5 ft, if you take out a link. It is extremely fast in the water. I love this spear.

Love this spear! You can make it the full length or two section, and even just the end piece if you would like. The Three prong spear tip is ideal and works well for small to medium fish.

I bought this pole spear to use instead of a JBL Explorer 30. While it has a better range, this 7' spear doesn't shoot as far as I would have expected. One thing that confused me from the included directions is JBL recommends filling it with water (so it's heavier and can shoot further). Well, I found the exact opposite to be true. A lighter pole spear, filled with air, will stay bouyant and shoot further, faster. I don't know why the heck they said that? Anyhoo, I would recommend this to someone who wants a durable beginner spear. I'm already wondering what I will buy next that's better?

I purchased this pole spear after going on several lionfish hunting trips in the Caribbean. These poisonous invasive fish need to be "tagged and bagged." This pole spear allows us to easily take multiple fish on each dive. It is light and maneuverable, very good for nailing fish hanging out on coral heads or wrecks.

I bought this for my husband for his birthday. He loves it! Although he is a beginner, he goes fishing with our nephews that have been diving for years. They have the same spear and love theirs too. I will be buying another soon for our son's birthday.

I used to use a Hawaiian Sling in HI, the old style. I replaced mine with this JBL. It's stiffer which makes for better tracking when hunting (no pole vibration). After not having polespeared for many years when I first tried this I'll be honest I lost my first largemouth bass, but after that I was in hog heaven. I even got a big boy which I know is too smart for lures, not for the polespear.

Great for travel, neutral buoyancy with water filled chambers is great for accuracy.
