Greg K : I am interested in the men's medium/tall. I am 6'2'. 190lbs. chest size 42. Northern and central California is where I surf. Are these wetsuits good and felxible for surfing. I have an O'neil Psyco Freak and it is a real pain to get on and off. What are your suggestions? Thanks, Greg K.KURT T : I use mine only for scuba diving; the Greenprene suits are significantly more flexible, and I think warmer than the equivalent thickness neoprene. I wear my 3mm in water temps that used to require 5mm, and the 5mm only when our Florida Keys water drops below 75 degrees. I love this new suit material, and won't go back!GLENN S : I am not sure that this suit at over $400 would be the best for surfing. It is meant for scuba diving and I got it because I am allergic to neoprene. Henderson has a Hyperstretch suit which may be better suited to surfing and may be cheaper. These suits are designed for diving, being totally submerged for a long time at temps which are much colder than that at the surface. As for as the stretchiness' of te Greenprene yes they are stretchy. Size wise you should be alright with a large. It's always best to go to your local dive/surf shop to try them on and support your local stores, they really need your support these days. You might also check on bulletin boards or talk to your surfing buddies about what they are wearing .MILT R : I cannot speak directly to the flexibility needed for surfing but my experiences with (3) different Henderson dive jumpsuits, including the Greenprene, are they are the most comfortable and flexible suit materials I have ever worn. My suits have all been spot on fits with the Henderson sizing table.MARK V : I am 6 even about 190. Using a large. I like the fit and it is much easier on/off than previous Henderso neoprene. It's now winter in FL and our water temps can drop into low 60's. 5mm is still good for about the 1st 30 mins into a dive. I do purchase new wetsuits every 3-4yrs because I use them often and because overtime the compression from deep dives weakens the neoprene losing its effectiveness. Would I buy this suite again? Yes. I knew it would be a little big but I figured he'd grow a little bit and I am almosts 6'2'' and 205. He has tried it on but not gone diving in it yet. He found the stomach area a little roomy but I think sizing at least would be good for you Greg. It is more a matter of it is flexible enough for aggressive movement in surfing. I think the warmth for fluidity trade-off would be worth it. I do know a young lady at his dive shop bought one and said they are a lot easier to don and doff so I think they are much better than neoprene and supposedly significantly warmer. CHUCK A : How is your boyancy compared to neoprene?THOMAS O : No buoyancy difference between Greenprene & neoprene but noticeably warmer. Initially purchased 5mm for Maui diving but exchanged for 3mm with no regrets. Stay comfortable in mid-70s degree water with long sleeved rash guard.Karen D : As an avid FL diver, i wear both greenprene and neoprene suits often. With neoprene suits, i wear little lead, e.g. 4 pounds for a 3mm neoprene. i have the 5mm women's greeneprene. Switching off from neoprene to greeneprene with the same gear set up, when the suit was new, i had to add 6 pounds of lead just for the switch to greenprene. Now that the suit is 14 months old, i add only 3 pounds of lead to go green. Henderson Greenpreen 3mm

Personally, I wear this suit when the water temperature is mid 70's or warmer. This suit is very stretchy. If you wear your knife around your ankle you end up with a balloon of water above the knife between dives. It's not a huge drawback but a little annoying. I use my suit a lot and it is holding up very well.

The best wetsuit!

Wish I had bought this wetsuit sooner!! I have been struggling into my 5-mil like it was a battle for years now. This wetsuit is WAY easier to put on and take off. Other wetsuit manufacturers better take note, this is the future of wetsuits...no one is going to want to keep struggling into their wetsuits when there's an easy on-off option like this one.

Excellent wet suit

The suit fit comfortably and worked well in a dive in water in the 50s (Farenheight). I'm 5'4 inches. I ordered a size 18 Women's short. My only complaint is that the legs are long, but, I was able to compensate for that by rolling the legs up.

Henderson GreenPrene wetsuit

Initial impression after 5 days of warm water diving in Cozumel, MX and 3 days in West Palm Beach, FL., This is a good suit! It's comfortable. Lots of stretch. Easy to don and doff. WWWWAAAAAYYYYY less odor. Now to your question, yes more lead is necessary. I weigh 215 lbs and normally dive with 8 lbs in a 3mm in warm water with my kit. The GreenPrene requires 2lbs more. It's worth the penalty.

Fantastic Comfortable Warm Wetsuit

I love this wetsuit. It is quite stretchy and flexible for a 7mm and is not as hard to put on as other wetsuits I've had. It kept me very warm in 24 degree C water and I like that it has a little color detail. Appreciate the Green technology as well.

Looking forward to dive in it!

Love it! My forearms are thinner than the sleeves but it seems that colder water on my forearms is not that bothersome. I have a hard body to fit - the same measurement for bust and hips - so all my suits are somewhat tight on top, but that cannot be helped unless I do custom and I do not like the designs. Happy with it!

Henderson 3 mil Green Prene wetsuit

I initially ordered a wetsuit that was too large for me. The wetsuit was returned and another size ordered and received. Second try was a good fit and the Green Prene material is very comfortable with easy on and off compared to traditional neoprene. I now have 10 or so dives and the 3 mil seems as warm as neoprene to me. At this point I am very pleased with my purchase. Time will tell how durable the new technology is. Mark

Some issues that can be resolved

Sizing was difficult online. The first one was too big (my error), the second was labeled ?short? but too long in the legs so water gets in. Also, I have a terrible rash around my neck from rubbing during crawl stroke?is there a fix for this? That said, I LOVE the material that is eco-friendly! A few tweaks and this would be my choice of a wetsuit hands down.

Fabulous wet suit

Great wet suit. I bought this because it is green and eco friendly. However, my main reason for purchase was because I have developed dermatitis - a skin rash condition---to neoprene in wet suits. I thought I would escape that problem with this suit. However, I did not--had the same problem. If you have no allergies to neoprene, this suit is fab!

Quality product! I?m 5?7?, 185 lbs, 44? chest & Medium Short is perfect fit. This wetsuit is definitely warmer than neoprene. I typically dive in mid-70s degree water and stay comfortable in long-sleeved rash guard & trunks. Previously wore two 3mm neoprene wetsuits (shorty & Farmer John) to achieve same comfort level.

Warm but super buoyant

This suit is toasty warm, but super buoyant. Purchased the 5 mil, doubled my weight (10 lb increased to 20) and still had to work to descend. Once at depth, I felt overweighted, then had difficulty staying at 15'-20' for my safety stop ?? I never attained neutral buoyancy. On my third dive I had a near-fatal episode of IPE. I'm a fit, experienced diver and am sure my inexperience with the suit contributed to the development of IPE. The specs on this suit need to include buoyancy info. It was my first 5 mil suit.

Warm and Flexible

My suit protected like a 5MM even though it's a 3MM. Little bulky the first two dives; expect to double your weight from an old suit or shorty. I had no issues with movement, it was easy to maneuver on deck and below water. No foul chemical smell either!

Highly recommend!!!

This is my first wetsuit purchase. After getting a rash on my chest renting one in Belize I decided I wanted my own and a full length (I tend to get chilled even in the Caribbean). This wetsuit does feel lighter than neoprene ones, it is soft/pliable, very easy to put on/take off, it’s comfortable and feels good! I am very pleased with this product! Plus I feel good about ultimately doing something positive for our environment.

Henderson is excited to introduce Greenprene: Greenpreneis a sustainable, insanely warm, super stretchy, ultra-durable insulating foam that provides excellent UV resistance. Greenpreneis also significantly lighter in weight than traditional neoprene materials. Greenpreneis 100% neoprene free sustainable insulating foam. It has been tested and is approved by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Bio Preferredprogram as a USDA Biobased product.

Greenpreneis formulated from deproteinized natural insulating foam along with other natural additives such as sugar cane, plant oils and oyster shells. The result is a sustainable Bio Based insulating foam that is ultra-soft, stretchy, durable, and light weight. Greenprenewetsuits will allow you to move freely without restriction while keeping you warm and comfortable in the most demanding conditions.

Exterior:
The recycled Aqua-Silk exterior fabric laminate is manufactured from recycled water bottles. The fabric was tested and selected for its durability, abrasion and hook and loop fastenerresistance as well as its fast-drying properties. The fabric is made from (88% recycled polyester and 12% spandex), which has been tested AZO-free and Oeko-tex certified.

Interior:
The recycled Bio-Span fabric laminate is manufactured from recycled water bottles. The fabric was tested and selected for its superior comfort, warmth, and ridiculous stretch. There is simply nothing else like it in the water today. The fabric is made from (88% recycled polyester and 12% Nylon), which has been tested AZO-free and is Oeko-tex certified.

Closure Dock (red); helps keep hook and loop fastener from attaching to other area's and protects suit from pilling. Accenting shoulder graphics look great and help protect suit from BCD wear and tear. Aqua-Silk exterior fabric provides 250% stretch and is extremely pill and abrasion resistant. The entire Greenprenewetsuit program has been designed to provide a fully sustainable product lifecycle. Greenprenewetsuits are packaged and shipped in recycled cardboard boxes. Each wetsuit is hand wrapped with recycled paper. Recycled cardboard cores are used to help prevent compression marks from folding and when in storage. All hangtags on the wetsuits are printed on recycled paper using soy-based inks. Suit is designed for temperate water conditions made from 5mm foam material. Easy self-donning is provided by the back-zipper entry with pull tab leash. The Henderson Greenprene Jumpsuit is black in color with reinforced knees and available in multiples sizes.
