Putting the Smart in Smartwatch

Depending on the Apps I run, a battery charge is good for weeks. It is lightweight, and comfortable on the wrist. The Connect app is easy to use. The watch face isn't one you can put your photo on, but the data you can have on the watch face is fine.

Great Watch

This watch has to be one of my absolute favorites. The big reason for this watch was the GPS, battery life, and the solar charging. And Garmin killed it with us watch. It has a ton of additional features that I am trying out now. Highly recommend this watch!

Awesome watch

I?ve had the watch now for about 8 months. My first watch needed to be warrantied but garmin stood by their product and sent a replacement immediately. Watch is awesome. I use it for upland hunting and the dog tracking feature.

Everything I wanted!

The main things I was looking for in a new watch were: great battery life, shows my notifications, rugged for my lifestyle. This watch checked all of those boxes! The battery life is great, but when you have the extra charge through solar, it's phenomenal! I returned my new Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 to get this watch. While the Galaxy Watch lastest barely a day, I can easily get over 30 days with this one. That is huge for my outdoor lifestyle and not wanting to constantly think about how charged my watch is. I've biked, climbed, played pickleball, and tore seats out of a bus with this thing on and not a scratch. It is so worth it. Just buy it.

Needed this

Complicated set up, at least for me. Customer service provided the help I needed. I own and trust Garmin products and so far, this is no exception to the quality I expect.

Great watch

This has been a great watch. It holds a charge forever. I haven?t even begun to tap into all the features, but the ones I have used are great. I would highly recommend this watch to anyone.

Second chance success!

I bought my first Instinct Solar in June of '21. Worked great for about two months, but then battery life crashed. For the first 2 months, I only plugged it in to charge 2-3 times. Then it won't last a week, then not even 3 days. Contacted support, and they tried 3 attempts to resolve, but it kept getting worse, finally they replaced it. The new one, seems to be even better about holding a charge, better than the first one, yay!. So first thanks for the fast online support, and then replacement after 3 attempts to resolve. Only negative, is sometimes hard to configure what I want with a long process, but usually good online help to get it configured. Very pleased with the watch.

Great purchase!!!

COUPLE WEEKS IN WITH THIS. REALLY TRYING TO LEARN THE FEATURES WHICH APPEAR TO BE AN INFINITE AMOUNT. EVERYTHING SO FAR IS WORKING WELL. THE SYNCHRONIZATION WITH THE APP AND THE DATA IT PRESENTS IS GREAT. I HAVE Q LOT TO LEARN BUT THIS WAS A WORTHWHILE WHILE PURCHASE AS OF THE DATE AND LIMITED TIME I HAVE HAD IT.

Great Battery Life

I bought this a few weeks ago and love it so far. Battery Life has been great, I came from a FitBit that would only last about 5 days and the Instinct Solar on full charge will be for 25 days. When go for a ride I can pick 1-2 days of additional charge. Great fit and looks

Great watch

Bought watch about 2 weeks ago to replace Ionic which had gone on the fritz. The buttons and modes took some time to get a feel for. Really love the solar aspect-haven?t had to put watch on charger since I gave it the first full charge.

Excellent product

Not only is it solar powered but it has many improvements over my 2 yr old instinct. Some of the new features were only available on the expensive Fenix.

Exactly what I wanted!

Had my solar for a month after switching fro Fitbit. I work outside so solar charging is perfect. Haven't had to charge it yet. Tons of features. I use mostly health tracking apps. Garmin Connect is easy to use and gives great feedback. 100% satisfied!

Doesn't hold a great charge

I have both the Instinct Solar and Non-solar version. The solar doesn;t seem to hold a great change. I recently was rafting the Grand (plenty of sun) and the solar watch was dead (in battery saver mode) faster then the non-solar version

When a G-Shock and a Garmin have a Baby

I love my G-Shock watches. I love their toughness and their solar charging and their great battery life. I also love the fact that they're more like a tool watch than a fancy smartwatch. This watch is perfect. It's got the best of all works. And, by turning off all of the smartwatch features, I can push its battery life, with HR and all lifestyle tracking, to over 30-days on a single charge. It now lives on my left wrist 24-7. It's also very light and very comfortable. It doesn't interfere with sleep or knock around on my wrist like a lot of much more expensive smartwatches.

I love it!

This watch is amazing. I got the Instinct to replace my Apple Watch that I abused and used. The battery life is unmatched as far as I am concerned. 12 days with the settings I regularly use, including sleep and pulse ox tracking. Being in Alaska, I really appreciate the GPS functions because adventures turn in to rescue missions when you least expect it. I think it?s plenty stylish and lightweight enough to forget I am wearing it. The Instinct is a rugged and beautiful work horse!

Decent features.

Disappointed with Solar charging, I was hoping it would last longer than a week. Also, I can't cross my arms; it disconnects my iPhone.

Great for my First Garmin

I've had other smart/fitness watches but this one has been the most accurate, easy to set up and utilize, seems rugged, and the battery lasts for a long time. Don't get hung up on it not having a color display, you don't need it.

It?s a great watch but?

The watch is great but there is one thing. Extremely expensive. The watch features and interface really are not the best on a watch. The solar feature also isn?t the best, the battery will go down if not connected to a charger. No matter how bright the sun is, it won?t charge a bit. The battery will last a few days though with enough charge. The watch is user friendly and it looks good, it has a simple and clean design. Garmin just need to take it easy with the prices, I don?t think these are expensive to develop or have anything special other than the GPS. Overall I?m somewhat satisfied with my purchase. 6.5/10

It's a powerful tool in a small package.

I hiked Half Dome with friends a month ago, carrying a Garmin Etrex Legend that I bought at a thrift shop for $2. The Etrex kept a record of that track, but it was spotty due to trees getting in the way of the GPS signals. A few days after we hiked, one of my companions gave me the Instinct Solar saying, "Try a Garmin with more memory." More memory isn't all it's got. It has fast GPS. It maps it when I step a few feet out of my jogging path to toss a piece of trash in a bin. It has an opinion about the quality of my sleep. It vibrates and awards me "prizes" when I exceed my previous record for pace or distance. Heartbeat and pace show when I run. Moon phases and sunrise/sunset times are in there too. There's more, and I'm still learning. It also has a very extensive instruction manual that jumps around a bit, so it has taken me weeks to digest and make handy a lot of what is in there. I downloaded the 32 page pdf, then printed it, two pages per side, double sided. I've figured out many ways to use the Instinct Solar but not nearly all it offers. I don't have the extra complexity of a smart phone to pair it with (maybe one day I'll add that functionality). Garmin Express lets me see my track on a map with great detail.

Love it!

I decided to go with the Garmin because I felt like my privacy would be respected. This is the first time I've enabled all features on a fitness device and I'm loving it. It's rugged, I'm not stressing about damaging it. The Pulse Ox is a great reminder to take a deep breathe. The move bar reminds me to step away from my desk and do a lap around the building. The heart rate & stress levels are helping me to take a moment... get myself in check.

Great Watch

I recently bought this watch for hiking and for the navigation. I went to the renegade burning man festival and it was the only way I could easily get around to various places in the dark since their were no streets it good landmarks to use. The watch worked beautifully and I never got lost. The solar didn?t work as well as I had hoped but the battery lasted all weekend once I started turning it off when I wasn?t needing to navigate. The watch also feels better than any watch I have ever worn. I usually hate to wear a watch to bed, but this one is so comfy I never take it off.

Hard to set up features

Love the look and feel of the watch. However, the features are difficult because of directions, or lack thereof, of how to set your watch up. You need more YouTube type tutorials or have it where you can set it up by your phone.

Love the ability to customize

I've had the Instinct a little over a week now and really love it. I was replacing an old Forerunner, which in turn replaced another Forerunner. With both of those the battery life eventually became too short which is why I went with the solar powered Instinct. The Instinct is as intuitive to use as my Forerunners and I've been able to easily customize the watch face and data screens to suit my needs. What doesn't fit on those is easy to scroll down to even when suffering from "hiker brain". I've also be able to turn off, or remove, features I have no interest in using (i.e. I'm on the trail for serenity, I don't want to be notified of every little thing). As well as being comfortable to wear and easy to use (and read), I believe the Instinct is sold at a good price for its features and usability. My wrist is small so I do wish there was the option of a smaller band but that's OK.
