Holds too much water takes forever to drain

First the good. Good quality, held up well over the years. Now the bad. Takes forever to drain and days to dry out. Weeks to dry out in the winter here in the New England. . When I do a shore dive out of the back of my SUV, this thing soaks the entire back making it necessary to remove it and throw it in a bucket. Even then, so much water pours out you get an trunk full of salt water no matter how you try to avoid it. After washing my gear, it must be hung outside to drain otherwise you get a garage full of water. Or you must rig a hanger on the wall so it drips into a buck. Huge pain the rear dealing with what is one of the most absorbent sponges I've ever had. I don't need a sponge. I'd like a pad that does not soak up half the ocean.

Nice addition to the backplate

Looked like the picture, good quality and it fit well too. Dove with it attached to my SS backplate for about forty dives so far.

Confortable...

Is a gear that make my steel plate harness so comfortable. Is made in USA and its quality looks like it... is no 5 stars because Velcro strips seems no fit but work good to keep pad on place, I don't care a lot about that... I buy it again without think.

This fit a Hollis aluminum back plate perfectly which surprised me.

The XT Back-Plate Pad's high-tech design consists of molded foam contoured in all the right places to prevent uncomfortable pokes and prods when wearing a metal back-plate. Mesh airflow channels provide instant draining topside and resist compression allowing the pad to maintain its thickness and comfort at depth. An integrated sleeve means the XT Back-Plate Pad can also be used to carry lift bags or surface markers.

The Dive Rite XT Back-Plate Pad is constructed from strong and durable 1,000-denier ballistic nylon for maximum tear and abrasion resistance. The quick-dry foam padding with an open cell porous design allows the pad to release water and dry in a hurry. Two marine grade 316-stainless-steel grommets resist rust and corrosion and provide drainage. The back-plate pad measures (W x H) 10.5 x 16" (27 x 41cm), weighs 6 oz (170g), and is proudly made in the U.S.A.
