Shopper : Am still not clear what an QD is and if I need it to mount the aqualite over the gopro?JOHN C : QD, Quick Disconnect. The flex arm can be easily removed, or Quick Disconnected, from the tray. The Aqualite is mounted on the end of the flexible arm. With the QD you can easily remove the light and flex arm if you are in area that you will not need a light.
Shopper : What is "QD" in product option? Can I attach a video light with YS mounting? ThanksYAN G : The Flex Arm has a QD on the base. This is made specifically for the UK Aqualite, and does not have a YS adapter.LARRY L : Not sure of the mounting options but I can tell you that I am using this rig to mount a Underwater Kinetics on the mounting arm and it works great. Also, I found that the bottom handle is useless and you can just unscrew and remove it and hold the device by the arm. A GoPro camera slides into the bottom mount perfectly.

Great product

Initially I was concerned that the light bar would block the screen since it sits directly behind it. While there is a bit of that problem just shifting your view slightly to one side pretty much lets you see the viewfinder on the camera good enough. The unit does not have a real good option for a lanyard hence the 4 star rating. I ended up with one attached to the steel cable in the light bar which is above your arm so it was a bit in the way. Not a big deal but I would prefer something below the grip to attach the lanyard.

About Beneath-the-Surface Adjustable Tray, Intova & UK

Beneath the Surface provides you with a tray for a GoPro/Intova Camera, a pistol grip handle and a flex arm that accepts optional Underwater Kinetics (UK) mount dive lights. The handle is mounted to the bottom of the tray, while the flex arm and your camera, in its underwater housing, are mount to the top, with the camera facing forward and the arm and light behind it. This allows you to position your light directly over the camera. The standard GoPro mount that came with your camera and attaches to the bottom of the housing slides directly into the tray's mount.

The handle is adjustable, sliding along the tray closer to or further away from the camera to suit your preference. The flex arm features 12 beads/joints for maximum flexibility, giving you an array of possible lighting angles and positions. All components in the tray and flex arm package are constructed from durable Delrin acetal resin with stainless-steel hardware. The arm measures approximately 10" (25.4cm) and weighs 9.0 oz. (255 g). The UK light easily attaches to the top of the arm.
