Qiao W : Does is fit the Halcyon Evolve Wing?JD B : While I have not specifically used this with a Halcyon Wing, this backplate has standard 11" spacing for the bolts on either a doubles or single tank adaptor setup. For the money, this backplate is hard to beat. The only difference I have noted between this backplate and the Diverite Backplate is that the plate is a little shallower in the center - but this does not affect function of the plate.
Shopper : is this a bag ?Angela H : Kind of--it's a plate packaged in a plastic bag, or at least mine was. But the bag is garbage while the plate is a steel/steal. Have to buy a wing, webbing, etc, separately and then assemble to make a functioning BCD.JAMES K : No, it is a back plate.CHRISTOPHER C D : This is not a bag. I’m guessing autocorrect changed BCD to bag. The backplate is part of a BCD system, that also includes the inflatable wing, a nylon web harness and a means to attach the scuba cylinder(s). Those additional items would be purchased separately to make a complete BCD. This style of BCD is commonly called a backplate/wing setup. There are advantages and disadvantages to this style versus a jacket or back inflate BCD. It comes down to diver preference and the type of diving you do. In the end the cost difference between the different systems is small. Good back plate

It works just fine and is still nice and shiny after 10 dives. I set it up with the divegearexpress backplate and wing package because they were out of stainless steel plates.

Better than my Halcyon

This is a great product. I have a Halcyon stainless steel BP to compare it against and honestly I think this is probably a better product. Despite the cost, the Halcyon has less attachment points -- this is much more versatile. At the cost--which is 1/2 the price of competitors--this is a no brainer. The edge finish quality is also similar to the Halcyon. Honestly this is a great bit of kit...

It replaced an aluminum plate. Has everything I needed.

The plate replaced an aluminum plate. Had all the holes and slots needed for my wing. I dove it last weekend. Functioned perfectly.

Blue Reef SS Backplate

The backplate seems to be well designed. I have not assembled it with a harness, as I am trying to find purple webbing. This will be my wife's backplate. It looks like it will match up well with the Hog 28 lb wing . Both items were Christmas presents. We are planning a dive in February and will be able to add to the review at that time. As advertised, there are no rough edges to file down. I'm hoping that the webbing will slide easy enough through the slots.

Stout Product, Great Price.

This is a heavy backplate, 5.2# of thick 304 grade SS (will need a good rinsing after SW use). Has plenty of mounting holes and multiple slots for a variety of wing mounts. I plan to cut mine down a bit in the middle to streamline it and take a couple of pounds off of it. The reasonable price allows this without the worry of messing up a $125.00+ plate. Another good point, the waist strap slots are 5/8" apart. This allows the use of the Sub Gravity back-plate harness sliders to make a cheap, QUICK-ADJUST HOG style harness that Halcyon charges many $$ for. The laser cut holes leave a fairly sharp edge, but a little time with a Dremel will fix that. It's not 316 grade SS, but for the price it's a great product; especially for those who like to tweak or customize their BP.
