The crew on the Aqua Cat in the Bahamas used this set for identification. We are relatively new divers 100ish dives and found these reference books to be quite helpful. I shopped around and this was an excellent price for the boxed set.

Use is helping students identify what they see, Case is very fragile and if your not careful will rip

This is a great reference set. Being a new diver, I still encounter lot of fish I've never seen before or an umfaimilar with their various phases. So far, I have been able to find every fish I had a question about in these books. They have great photos and detailed facts about fish, coral, creatures etc. Definately worth the money!

The books are well made but heavy. I probably will not take them on trips requiring air travel due to the weight added to a checked bag and too heavy to take all 3 in my carry on.

While you can't take it with you on a dive, it's great for use after the dive to identify what you saw during the dive. Usually this involves reviewing the images on your digital camera. The books are set up so you look for general shapes and descriptions to find the appropriate sections in which to look for your particular fish, coral or "critter."

I'll use them post dive to identify what I've seen and to get IDs for photos

The fact that the books even show the juveniles along with the adults (on some fish) really helped us identify every picture that we took for our recent tropical trip. With over 500 pictures, we were very happy we made this purchase!

These books are the standard for recreational and advanced recreational fish, creature, and coral identification. Lay-flat, traditional style binding is an improvement over the spiral bound versions of these books. No spirals mean that pages can't creep out of the spirals, or get snagged on them as you turn the pages. It's nice to buy the complete set: you'll get 3 great books and they'll all be the same version. The Fish Behavior book from this publisher is a nice enhancement to this set of reference books. They can be heavy and bulky to take on vacation, but it's nice to have at least one of them with you on the boat or back at the hotel. Very useful when identifying creatures during your trip, or when you get home and are looking over your underwater photos.

We bought the Reef ID set to not only help us ID fish that we encounter but to serve as a good color reference when retouching our digital photos. After researching other sites and shops, the price for the set at LeisurePro was the best. I only wish there was a CD-ROM version that we could take along with us when we travel. Although, we usually bring the Fish ID book with us.

The scientifically up-dated text now boasts 825 classic marine life photographs of 600 common and rare reef fish species. Our 2nd edition includes 220 new photos of beautiful shells, outrageously camouflaged crabs, a superb collection of exquisite nudibranchs and the most outrageous octopus ever discovered in the Caribbean!

Existing in an abundance of colors and intriguing shapes, these animals are worth a closer look. 530 classic photographs of living specimens and the most current scientific classifications help identify virtually every species of stony coral, gorgonian, fire coral and black coral inhabiting the tropical western Atlantic.
The new 2nd edition includes a comprehensive photo-essay of coral diseases and predation and a photo gallery on coral reproduction.
