Shopper : Is there a screw nut to tighten it against the hot shoe?VP516609 TONY S : no. just rotate the ball to tighten.Ken C : The bottom square plate is threaded into the black base. You can tighten it by hand.HUGH W : Effectively, yes. The flat part on the bottom slides into the shoe holder and then you turn the whole think to snug the washer down on top of the shoe. There is not a separate set screw, though, but it is very secure.
DAVID G : I have a Fantasea housing. I want to attach a Sea Life video strobe to the bracket that is at the top of that housing. This looks like it will work but I thought a hot shoe was a powered connection to make a strobe fire with the camera. Will this securely clamp on to my housing?
