Questions & Answers

Shopper : is the foot pocket sizing the same as the Splits?JOE S : Cosmetically they look different, but the sizing works the same.
Angela A : I have Atomic Splits, will the spring straps fit these??JOE S : Yes they should work on the X1 fins.
Shopper : Are the Atomic X1 Bladefins positively, negatively, or neutrally buoyant?  And how would adding atomic spring straps change that?JOE S : Slightly negative and should not be an issue with your feet sinking. The spring straps would have little affect on the overall buoyancy.MICHAEL F : Negatively buoyant and do not drop in the water reguardleas of strap type.
Shopper : I wear a size 7.5 women's shoe. Looks like I am right in the cut off on the size chart. Any idea if these Atomic X-1 blade fins run big or small?Robert W : They run big. I wear a men's size 9/10 shoe and the large is a bit loose.
Shopper : How long is the fin blade (for the large size specifically) from the front of the foot pocket to the tip of the fin blade ?YAN G : Total length for the Large size is 25.5 inches.

good first impression...not for career hobby.

They are good for the novice diver, but for deeper dives I do not recommend these atomic fins I recommend the split fins for better strides. I love atomic but for the seasoned diver I dont recommend these. After awhile they fold and lose efficiency. Definitely do not use these for technical diving!

XL Is Narrow

I bought XL size to use these with my drysuit. I am still amazed at how narrow the foot opening is. I can't even use these with my heavy sole wetsuit boots. The fins themselves are nice and stiff the way I like them, but they are useless since they don't fit. Other sizes may be OK, but not the XL for my purposes.

Footpocket is narrow

After consulting with LeisurePro I bought the medium size. I wear a size 6 hard sole bootie and a womens size 7 medium width shoe so the medium was a step up in size from what I would normally wear. I just spent three weeks diving and trying to cram this fin on while bobbing around on the surface while shore diving. It was all I could do to get my foot in the narrow foot pocket of this fin. Once it was on, the propulsion was good. Getting it off was another battle. If you are set on this fin and wear a bootie for shore diving, buy two sizes up.

Favorite Atomic Fins Thus Fare

I have used all 3 atomic fin types. (Spilt, Blade and X1) Overall the SPLIT are great for easy kick with little propulsion moving forward.(7 out of 10) If you get craps id recommend the split fins for easy kicking. The BLADE fins are a happy medium. They have more power and movement plus better for frog/ helicopter leg kicks. I think these are great just not as much power id like to have in my fins.(8 out of 10) The X-1 fins are Powerful, Flexible and the Priced is very fair. Personal I frog kick mostly while diving and these are designed for that style of diving. I dive recreational and side-mount but I've been told these are great for diving with double as well. Keep in mind they are a lighter fin but natural a bit negatively buoyant. The foot pocket is a bit large so perhaps one side smaller if you do not dive with a larger neoprene boot or drysuit boot. Overall Score (10/10) Best fin Ive used so fare!
