Questions & Answers

Katharine L : I have this system and love it. Several of my students have lost a pin here and there. Where can I find replacment pins??darrick c : Hello Katharine, you can find the replacement pin at: https://www.scuba.com/p-aquta38/clevis-pin-for-quick-draw-easy-mount-pony-bottle-holders.
CLIFF H : How does this affect buoyancy? Seems like it might add weight to one side?BRUCE B : Your buoyancy is going to much more effected by the pony tank the bracket holds. Bracket is light aluminum and the weight is negligibleBRYAN F : For me i had to offset the pony bottle with a 3 lbs. weight. I used a velcro trim pocket weight holder and slid it on to my tank’s cam bands. Works perfectly. All trim in check. BryanCHRIS S : Primarily, you’ll want to know the negative bouyancy of your full pony bottle from the manufacturer or retailer. My Al13 is about 2 pounds negative when full of air, so I put a 2 lb trim weight on my back on the opposite side to balance out.WAYNE H : Does add weight to one side. With the 13 or 19 cuff tank I add 2 lbs at top pocket of my bcd on opposite side to the tank. Surpriseingly I had to add 4 lbs opposite with the 30 cuff tank with mount, 2 in top and 2 lbs in bottom pocket.
Shopper : Does it fit on a 30 cf pony tank?Dallas P : If same diameter as 40cf pony tank, yes. I have 40cf pony tank (Luxfer). It fits.LEWIS H : There is one for a 30cf cylinder.GREGORY S : I have one and currently use it on a 19 cu ft luxfur pony bottle. I'm not sure if that will work on a 30 it would really depend on the diameter. The device works very well and is easy to use. Hope that helps.RONALD S : Yes it does. I have a 30. Measure your tank diameter and what the bracket dimensions say. Should be the same.Carl S : My husband purchased. He is out of the country. I have no idea if it fits or not. Sorry I cannot help you with your question. I think he used for a 30, but I am not sure. Whatever he used it for it worked well.
Daniel K : Will it fit on a 8inch primary tank like a steel HP117, or is it just for 7.25 tanks?Joe J : Yes, this fits my steel 8 inch Fabor-95MICHAEL R : The main bracket fits on the pony, a 19 or 13 cubic foot tank, then your strap goes through the other part holding it to your main tank. It will fit 8" or 7-1/4" .STEFAN S : This mount is only for the small, "pony" sized tanks; 13 or 19 cubic footers. Works GREAT though.LARRY C : The model that I have (QD-200002) will not accomodate a HP117 (hoop is too small). You could check with the manufacturer to see if there is another model that could work for your application, Leisure Pro should be able to get it if available. You can also check in tech gear for the strap/clamp/suicide clip options that are also used in staging/bailout applications.ROBERT K : I would say yes. I"ve never tried it but the band is adjustable.ARLEN Z : Size of primary tank is irrelevant. Quick Draw pony mount attaches to your BCD tank band. It becomes part of your BCD assembly. When you switch to a different primary tank the mount goes along with your BCD . You can remove pony bottle from mount for ease of transfer then pop it back on. Thus, the name Quick Draw.CHRISTOPHER T : It mounts to primary tank by running band through it. I have mine on a steel LP 130.. the band that attaches the pony bottle is 2 Allen head screws
Shopper : How does the clamp tighten up around the pony bottle? Is there a bolt on the other side? I'm only seeing one side of the mount.Dallas P : There should be 2 hex screws. Loosen the screws enough so the tank can slide through the opening. Adjust as necessary then you can tighten the 2 hex screws to secure tank. Hope this helpsShawn W : There are two allen head bolts that allow the clamp to be tightened around the pony bottle. This mount works great!MICHAEL R : The aluminum ring has two bolts that tighten it to the pony tank, the piece you see with the two pins and rings attaches tomyour BCD tank band. This by far is the best mounting system for a pony tank I have found. Just be sure you get the right size for the correct size pony bottle you have.Joe J : The loop you see in the picture goes over/around the pony bottle. There is a split in the ring, close to the bracket, which is pulled together/closed with an Allen screw. The bracket is held to the main tank by putting your tank strap though the bracket. You only put the ring on your pony bottle once and you leave the rest of the bracket on your BC-tank strap all the time. When you are ready to dive, the pony take hooks to the bracket with a quick disconnect pin. I find this bracket very easy to use.Kenneth M : The mount is held by the tension on the strap. It WILL NOT move! I'm somewhat OCD, so I added an additional strap for only the pony mount. It's probably not necessary, but it makes me feel more secure. I've had a couple of different pony mounts over the years but this one is by far, the best.Hans-Eirik H : There is two(2) hex head bolts that tighten the band to the pony bottle.KEN D : Allen head bolts on the thick side of the clamp. Make sure you lubricate the threads because they will collect corrosion over time even though they are stainless. Great clamp and will not loosen upHarvey F : Mine is not home right now, but I think it has a recessed allen screw to clamp the bottle. In any case, this is an extremely secure and rugged mounting system.Kevin H : There are two bolts that tighten the clamp around the tank.LEWIS H : Two hex head screw hold tank to mount. This is the best pony mount out there in my opinion.SEAN B : Yes, there is a bolt that secures the clamp to the bottlePeter F : Yes there are two recessed bolts that can be turned with an Allen wrench that are on the other side of the bracket. By the way, this is one of my favorite pieces of gear. So easy to use.

Best on Market

Great product!

I have owned my QuickDraw for over 10 years. Initially used it wi a 13cf and then moved it to a 19cf. The product is solid, good quality, and there is little to no play once mounted. As the title notes easy to mount and release the pony tank. This is supper useful when setting up and taking down your gear. The mount has taken a beating over the years and is still going strong. This is one piece of gear that has exceeded my expectation.

Works great, with a few adjustments

After using a different pony clamp for decades, I switched to this. SUPER EZ AND FAST to swap out tanks between dives. With original installation, I had some trouble getting the main pony circle bracket to slide onto my 13 pony, the tolerances were too tight, and I had to use a hammer, but I got the job done after a bit of fussing. The "key rings" on the top of the push pins can bend easily, so replace them with sturdier ones or have backups. And those pin "key rings" on top can get jammed between your main tank/belt and the pony, so you just gotta get used to aiming them properly when you operate the pin. Fantastic clamp once installed. I am going to replace the push pin that goes in/out constantly with a Quick Release style push pin from Grainger. It will be easier to push in/out with that style of "triggered" ball bearing.

Solid mount.

Really solid mount for 13 or 19 cuft aluminum pony tanks. Easy to install and manage. Much better than the other model I had before (long rod that extended from valve to base of tank).

Fantastically solid and versatile tank band mount for pony.

Quick and easy. Can even be disconnected and passed off underwater should the need arise, given the proper configuration of the pins.

The best

This is the best pony mount I've used so far, and I've had a few. The most solid, and the mount that stays where you pit it. Well done.

Best pony bottle mount oun the market

This mount is easy for one person to quickly mount or dismount a pony bottle. Makes main bottle changes quick and easy. I've had mine over 4 years now and there's no wear or signs of fatigue!

Easy to secure to your main tank

I Highly recommend. I would caution that when pulling pin out to take off your pony you can bend or break the grasp ring. It should come out easily. If it doesn't come out easily don't force it.

Most secure and quickest I have found

My wife and I both own one, as well as many others in my dive club. Yes, it's more expensive than others, and that deters people from buying. However, many who started with less expensive straps also bought this after spending money on a cheap alternative, so their cost is actually higher than starting with this one. What is the cost of a lost pony bottle, reg, etc., or a blown dive because you must surface to fix your tank straps. One of our dive club members suffered through eight or ten such dives before tossing the cheap web strapping based holder into the trash and buying this one. No more problems - ever. The quick connect feature of this setup allows you to very quickly change out main tanks without removing the securing strap on the pony bottle. You pull one pin and rotate the pony bottle out of the bracket, then change out the main tanks as normal. I have no idea why others seem to believe they need so much grease on the pins. I've never applied grease and have no problem at all inserting or removing the pins. I suspect they're not rotating the pony bottle fully into its place, therefore not lining the holes up properly. My wife had that problem until I showed her how to tell if the bottle strap was fully inserted into the bracket. I did add a small bungee cord to one of the pins. Although they're attached to each other with the "safety cable", they're not attached to anything else. If you pull both pins, then they're loose. I atached the bungee to the main tank strap and now I don't have to worry about forgetting or losing my pins.

Great pony bottle cramp!

This item was a replacement for another manufacturer's similar item. Theirs fell of my BCD tank strap once too often (that means just once!). I should have bought this in the first place.

It works great!

This thing saves a lot of time, I was using the Zeagle dual stap before and the tank never really felt secure. Now, it's on there pretty solid and easier to take off when changing tanks.

Best solution for mounting a pony

The best solution for mounting a pony. You don't need any additional hardware, just this. Easy to add and remove pony simply by pulling a single pin. Would be nice if it was cheaper though!

greasy and expensive

Very expensive for what it does...many equally functional options on the market for less money. The pins require so much grease its impossible not to get grease on your BC & suit.

I returned this to Leisure Pro

I did not use this in the water. I wasn't impressed with its overall design relative to the cost, (its about the most expensive pony bottle mount on the market). The pins are very greasy, I'd rather not have grease all over my BC, tank and gloves every time I dive. The instructions are clear about keeping copious amounts of grease on the pins. I would've kept this if the cost was $69.99 but its double that. I bought a different pony holder on LP for $49.99...looks like it will work equally well. Cant advocate for this mount until they lower the cost.
