Questions & Answers

JOHN P : Will this boot work on a galvanized faber steel 100 scuba tanks?darrick c : Hello John, no, the diameter of a steel 100 is 8" diameter, you would need this boot for your tank: https://www.scuba.com/p-xsstb8/xs-scuba-8-203-cm-octagon-tank-boot-for-steel-tanks.
Konstanti K : I'm having trouble getting it on my tank is a 7.25 just like the boot any tips to get it on?WALTER G : In my experience it was a very tight fit. I set the boot on the ground and gently dropped the cylinder straight in it to get it started and repeated that until it was all the way on. Been good so far. Good luckL R : Well if it's the right size?, put it in boiling water for a few minutes, spray some silicone on the tank bottom. Hold the tank by the valve use the tank's weight to force it on by pounding against the floor. Although these boots have better drainage and prevent corrosion, better than the factory ones, frankly, I don't think these boots are properly sized. Mine eventually split and are held on by a hose clamp.
William C : Do these tank boots have cross-members on the bottom to protect the protective paint from being scarred or the tank from dings when in the upright position?L R : YesMICHEL J : No, generally steel tanks have rounded bottoms so boots will not have cross members.KEVIN F : Not on the middle portion, no. Around the sides of the circle, yes.BRUCE R : No, the bottom is open, no protective cross members, 1 1/2" of plastic rim on bottom, the rest is openJONAH Z : No. The bottom of the tank sits a little bit higher than the bottom of the boot, but if you put it down on uneven ground you could scratch/ding the tank.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?JASON P : Best of the best protection of my new Catalina tank

They do not make good hexagon tank boots any more...

These new tank boots without cross embers on the bottom allow steel tank bottoms to scrape. There are some plastic boots with cross members for steel tanks but they crack very easily. The old ones were made of hard rubber that protected the tank bottom and did not crack.

Happy

Fit my fabre 120s perfect. Wished they had a closed bottom to protect the tank a little more. Overal very happy, a lot better than those rubber boots that come with the fabres

Two of them split after a year.

Drain better than stock boots. Split after a year, on two different boots.

7.25" Tank Boot for High Pressure Steel Tanks

This tank boot fits my white Faber high pressure 80 cu. ft. tank perfectly. The original Faber boots that came with my 2006 tanks do not have a stable bottom so therefore they topple over easily. My 80 cu. ft. high pressure steel tank has a slightly rounded bottom and these are excellent replacement boots for it.

HP Tank boot fit issue

I have a steel 120 HP tank that I bought this for that is apparently just a slight bit skinner then it should be. It would be better if these boots could adapt to a wider range of tank size variances. The boot is probably fine for the far majority of tanks.
