I'm afraid I did not find this holder to be very effective in holding my octopus. It fell out too easily. I had to stop using it.

Octo can free flow when it is in the bubble. Fill it up with water!

My octo often slipped out and it never took too long for the ring to tear free. I tried 3 of these before I finally gave up.

Doesn't really hold octopus mouthpiece securely once wet, and it just swings around getting in the way.

I/m in the dive master class and what I use to use was not setting a good example for the students.

I had an issue with my delicate and expensive primary regulator swinging around while i made my way around the deck on my boat dives. It was nice to just tuck it away for a moment while i get my dive camera and lights ready to go. I'm a little picky when it comes to being organized and having a place for everything. It is slightly hard to put the regulator into the holder but at least i know it is secure. (i'm not sure if it's because of the size of my mouthpiece i have a scuba pro a700)

Bought it in yellow for easy identification. I have always used it with Sherwood octopus in warm water and have no problem taking it out or putting it back in. I have used it in rescue training with no problem at all.

It serves its function to protect the octo well, but the opening is too small to feel comfortable in emergency. One of my octo regs (Scubapro) slides out Ok, but the other (Aqualung) is too tight and unless carefully removed may pull off the mouth-piece. Emergency and careful removal do not come together very well. Also there is a tendency to free-flow as others have noted. This can be a great product if the opening is made bigger and free-flow issue is solved (a few small holes perhaps).

Good price of equipment to have. Get the octopus out of the way and you know where it is when you do need it, you don't have to reaching for it.

This was the only Octo keeper that would fit my new octo but it annoyingly causes freeflows. I had to fiddle with it at the beginning of each of my 25 dives I made last week. I think I'll be punching some venting holes in it.

This causes my reg to hang mouthpiece up, and the reg freeflows in that position. Annoying, but as much the regs fault as it is the scumball. Below 20ft it works fine.

This is the best mouthpiece cover I have used.

Good product, but the material that it is made of does not last more than about two years. They always tear lose where the ring meets the ball. I have had several and they all do the same thing.

Had to put some extra holes in it to stop the reg from free-flowing

This thing works. The Reg is easy to put in and it comes out with a slight pull. The resistance in my opinion is not enough to pull the mouth piece off (unless its not on properly) like another review states. It does tend to cause the octo to freeflow if you dont let it fill with water before you insert the oct, it will eventually stop but easy just to let some water in. A couple small holes may stop this also. Main point my reg NEVER comes out unless I pull it.

This little extra holds the octopus very well. It kept all the “skum” out of the octo mouthpiece. It a big improvement over those cheaply made octo holders that you cant put the mouthpiece in or those that fall out during the dive.

It worked well. It kept the octopus where I needed it and kept the sand out of the mouthpiece. It was easy to use, just pull on the octopus and push to insert.

If you poke a couple of holes in the side opposite the reg opening it will save you LOTS of grief at depth trying to pull it out. Also have had problems causing air dumping (free flow) at depth. Have heard of ppl losing mouth piece from these holding their octo too well. Buyer be warned!

Bright in color for easy identification in an emergency, the Skum-Ball Octopus Holder with Clip. Hardened stainless steel split ring and clip attachment will retain your alternate air source where you attach it to your equipment until you need it. Won't allow octopus to drag along the bottom collecting sand or destroying the reef, Octopus holder also helps prevent free-flow from accruing when entering the water or when encountering a current. Octopus holder can protect your regulator mouthpiece when you stow your equipment after diving. The Scum-Ball Octopus Holder is made from durable plastic and includes a non-corrosive plastic gate clip for attachment to gear. Can double as an out of water mouthpiece protector for regulator storage.
