Questions & Answers

Shopper : What brand is it? Innovative?ROBERT F : I don't recall the brand - who cares - its a wrist slate and it works for UW communication!CHARLES C : Sorry, think I answered the wrong question before. The wrist slate works well. I would recommend it for tec and OW diving.
Shopper : Is this slate suitable for a petite woman's forearm/wrist? What are the dimensions of the slate that will wrap around(?) the forearm?WILFRED A : I wore a wet suit the first time using it and it rolled around my forearm too.I got some silicone caulk and put lines down the side that goes against my wetsuit. Perfect fix.JAMES O : I have a very small wrist for a man and the slate works just fine. However I don't dive without a wetsuit or drysuit so my forearm is always covered prior to using the slate. I've never tried to use the slate without an exposure suit. Sorry I don't know the dimensions.DAVID M : Unfortunately, it's not even made to fit the wrist of The Hulk. The curvature would fit about a 14" forearm (okay, maybe the Hulk...). Now, saying that, the slate really is fantastic, after I modified it. Take a regular hair dryer to it for about 5 min and it becomes slightly pliable. I just kept at it and slowly I rolled the bottom slate down so it would fit my forearm. Then I glued a very thin piece of neoprene to it (to make is sticky with my skin-suit) and ta-da, custom slate. Between writing misc info for me (underwater photography) and getting info to and from my dive buddy, I won't go diving without it. I've went through a number of slates and after modding this one, it's by far the best. As a side, you can use a Magic Eraser (the household cleaning thingy) to clean these slates to brand new.SARAH B : I don't know the dimensions, but it fits mine just fine and my forearms are skinny.ROBERT F : It's one size fits all. The elastic band hold it to any size wrist/forearm. Do you wear a wetsuit?TED S : It will be very loose on a petite womans forearm. Might even be loose on the bicep. The only time it fit snug on me ( 5'10" and 195lbs.) was while wearing my drysuit.
Shopper : Can the glow in the dark version be read easily in higher light situations as well as in low light situations?LeisurePro S : The glow in dark is visible in normal light as well. If you have no need for the glow in the dark, you can just tget the normal version, but if you might need to use the slate in the dark, glow in the dark will be fine for all applications.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?NORMAN C : Easy to communicate detailsJASON D : highly rated, low priced.RIGO L : looks practicalRANDY M : Saw in a local shop and liked.IVAN O : Old slate was a pain to release and write on, this will be quicker and easier. Also like the idea its not creating drag or dragging on reefsMARK K : needed a way to record measurements and communicate while divingDonald N : Very handy, beats the flat slate hanging off your bc.GEORGE H O : For noting dive particulars until I log them later. Great price and liked the looks of the compact design. Seems like it will be easy to use and carry without dangling from my BC of having to shuffle around in pockets.BRIAN A : A friend of mine had one and it worked really well.Carl M : Easy access.Olykene T : Very handy at work and cool design!ROBERT G : Needed for communication with buddy. For day or night diving.Ronald M : it is a convenient wrist mounted slate eliminating one more piece of gear dangling off the BCD potentially snagging. Multi pages allow for organizing notes or explaining training tasks U/W. Glow in the dark is nice in Wrecks or Dark dives or when doing penetration planning/recording.STUART P : Good buy.DAVID T : EVeryone should have a dive slate. Not only to assist communication and for recording compass and natural navigation, but for depth and time and pressure calculations etc...BRUCE T : Recommended by my instructor as very handy for deep/technical diving applications.PAUL O : Thought it would be good for notes - ended up not using it muchART R : Obviously underwater communication and safety, but especially to understand my divemasters intricate understanding of Cozumel dives.CHRIS L : Worked great but rubber bands broke so sitting unused in scuba drawer until I can get some replacement bands.RICK W : Another dust collector in my dive bag. A plain slate is probably easier.TRAVIS K : I gave up on these after breaking two. I dive "Halcyon" wet notes now. Can't break them.OSCAR L : Is awkward trying to extract a slate from pocket or hanging load without knowing when to use it

Works Well for the money.

Works well. I found erasing it difficult, but a buddy told me to use Magic Eraser on it and that worked great. My only issue is that the straps have limited adjustability. Fortunately, I has slots so I can use a bungee.

Great slate for diving.

Multi page white slate is well suited for wreck training. You can use to communicate with other divers as well. I was able to tell a dive master about a found boat anchor tangled in the wreck, that had been cut away from fishing boat. Washable for continuous use. Rubber bands keep it open and workable to change pages.

Arm strap

It’s a great product I just wish the arm band was a little smaller. When your diving it turns a lot on the forearm. But other than that great.

Smart Design

We`ve all seen slates hanging down off of BCD`s ruining trim or small enough to fit in a pocket. This is neither. It velcros around your arm and gives you 3 pages to take notes on. I start on the inside page for my first dive and work my way out with each dive. 20 dives so far and a big help for my log book Noting dive location, sea life or a note to my dive partner.I like it because it wont affect trim, easy to get to and use. It did slide around on my first dive as another reviewer stated but I fixed it with his suggestion of a few lines of silicone caulk. Perfect fix.My dive Partner liked it so much she asked for one for Valentines Day! Easy gift.

Sizing issues- probably a great product, just not for small humans.

Great product, just not for me. Would not recommend for people with smaller arms- the plastic arc at the back of the sheets is really wide and doesn't fit on my arm. The Velcro system doesn't really work, because it's so big\can't tighten enough to fit. My boyfriend loved it, though--so just know that it's probably a good product for someone with a larger arm.

Good, one minor problem for warm water divers

Slate works well, glows in the dark nicely. One minor problem, I do alot of warm water diving in the Philippines, (no wetsuit required). So when this thing is around your wrist, the cord attachment point under the slate is shaped like a small rubber or plastic nub. After a while you start to notice this little nub digging into your skin even with a rash guard. If you were to use it with a 1.5mm or thicker it wouldn't be a problem.

Wrist Slate

This a cool item. Not like a slate that hangs off you BC. I haven't used it yet but it fits snugly on the wrist and out of the way and be reached quickly. I'm not quit sure on the o-rings but extra came with the item. I like the holder for the pencil as well. I definitely recommend this item.

Multi Page Wrist Slate

Bought it to use on a recent dive trip. I did 3 dives a day over 7 days. Easy communication with my buddy with no equipment dragging as a flat slate might. I recorded air out and in and everything I saw on each dive to supplement my computer. This kept my dives clear and concise until I logged them. It was a little loose while diving with just a skin but a few lines of silicone caulk on the underside stopped any sliding. Easy to write on. Highly recommend it.

Very nice slate

Very nice slate. Pages stay in place well when closed and open. Good pencil. I didn't like where the pencil cord was and I had to cut the end to reposition it. Not a big deal though. I wasn't too fond of the strap either as it is a long and I'm a pretty big guy and wear a dry suit. I replaced it with some bungee. Minor adjustments, but now it's the only slate I use.

Handy design but sometimes hard to keep inplace

This slate is convenient, allowing for pre-planning and recording on multiple slates. Locks open or closed and glows in the dark. I added a bot of rubber cement to the inside of the strap to stop it from sliding on my arm.

The only way to go.

I don't have a need for all three pages (at least not now) so I simply popped them off and stored them for future use. I also added some Velcro (the hook part) to the back of the slate to prevent it from spinning on my arm or slipping toward my wrist. with those modifications, I am very happy with this product. It is much better than having it dangle from my BC or stuck in a pocket. The tube-type pencil holder also works much better than the clip type I have seen on others.

Great!

I really like this. As I dive, I make short notes. 15m - 5' Nurse Shark 32m - Sting Ray I can also make notes of start/end air, and whatever. When I get back on board I can discuss what I saw w/others. It can also help to communicate complicated messages w/other divers below.

Good accessory

Works as stated. Fits comfortable on your forearm. Was a little big for my wife's forearm. The extra o-rings helped save a fellow diver's dive as he forgot his save a dive kit and we had the o-rings on hand. Little hard to erase.

Great Idea

Just got back from a Liveaboard in Belize. This product definately worked and wife and i enjoyed them very much. Allowed us to communicate about specific things, "where did everyone go ?, do you know where the boat is ? Why are you going this way ?" It's very easy to use but very hard to clean. Elbow grease and a little soap made it useable for the next dive. It's a little lightweight, so i wouldn't recommmend it for pro divers without some mods; stronger mounting strap to keep it secure and in place. longer strap to keep it from flipping open.

The slate is too big for my arm, but may work well for a larger person. The pencil was hard to erase after a dive.

Whether you are a new diver or a dive instructor, or anywhere in between, you always have the need to write something down underwater. For the new diver, it may be for asking questions later back on the boat or shore about why you felt something or what kind of marine life you encountered. For the photographer, it may be the camera settings used on specific shots you took for review later. For the instructor, the ability to write underwater may be necessary for an evaluation of a student's skills.

Whatever your need, this Multi-Page Wrist Slate is curved to fit comfortably on your wrist and is available in standard and glow-in-the-dark models. If you have been night diving or in a low light situation (wreck or cave penetration) and wanted to write something down you need 3-hands, one for your slate, one for the pencil and a third for the dive light. The three-page design gives you more than enough writing space to get your message across. Slate is equipped with a hook and loop strap for mounting on the wrist, and the slate has a pencil that is attached to a coiled lanyard and a tube to secure pencil when not in use.
