Questions & Answers

Shopper : How big is the inner hole diameter on this float? Can it be used for storage of waterproof equipment?JESSE D : You could put a camera without strobes or a small water proof bag
Alexei G : I've just got this product and I don't see a way to keep the flag upright ... even in the calm of my home. The only holes seem to be at the sides of the float where the line passes which are not rigid so the poles would not stay upright under any conditions. Am I missing something?DIXON S : This float is only designed to support the flag that's shown in the product picture (2 poles). It's not designed to mount a standard single pole dive flag.AARON L : I had the same issue and tried everything, even putting weight in the center hole but the problem persisted. I finally solved it by deflating the buoy, then throwing it in the trash and ordering a different design. Sadly we have both wasted hard earned money on a badly designed product.ABRAHAM W : don't know; never opened it up or used itJAMES R : I found this to be a poorly designed product. Yes, it tips over, and then the flag falls off. if you get one, add a string across the bottom and add a one pound weight to it. Then duct tape the flag to the poles.
Shopper : I plan to use this to attach to my kayak and paddle around so that other boats can see me. With regards to stability will it tip over easier than the ones that just have the sercular buoy?JULIO CESAR L : I haven't used in a kayak, but I don't think so, this is a pretty big buoy, but if you get a lot wind, just don't place the flag, the buoy will still be pretty visible to, unless you also have heavy boat traffic.LARRY P : The middle of the float is made to be filled with water. I've had it anchored in 30mph wind without it tipping over.WALLY H : No. you can fill the inside with a little water and it will stay upright. The inside opening is sealed at the bottom where you can put things that you find while diving or you can store drinks with ice. Its pretty stong! Most of my fellow divers purchased them that were using the bouy type because of the storage capability.JASON J : No it won't..this is a very stable unit and you can add weights in the middle for even more stability..this is a great unit ROBERT M : I use mine as a stationary marker buoy but it should be stable to pull behind a kayakCARL T : Yes a little wind will blow it over
DAVID D : What would be a good affordable line and reel to tow the float?GERALD W : You can get a cheap roll of poly line and a reel from Leisurepro.GARY R : I use a 1/4 inch polypropylene rope. It's hollow braid and is easy to work with. You can find it at any hardware store for about 6 dollars for 50 feet.
Shopper : Do you carry the red and white replacement flag for the Flag-N-Float?LeisurePro S : We have the red replacement flag <a href="http://www.leisurepro.com/Popup/Common.aspx?Op=ItemSummary&ProductID=AQUFFIF" target="_blank"> here</a>.

Works great for static use

This float and dive flag works great for static use, but is not so good for towing. If the wind is above about 15 knots and you are towing the float with the flag, it can turn upside down, and the flag may fall out of the holder. This happened to me, but was fortunate to find the flag on the bottom of the lake on the return leg. When I saw the flag on the lake floor, I thought "Hey that flag looks like the flag on my float" not fully realizing it was my flag.

Good flag

Its easy to see, pretty good quality, easy to inflate. I put a weight under it to make sure it stayed up-right (although I didn't have any problem with it turning over).

Great Flag and Float

Great product. Has a place in the center to put extra items like weights, anti fog, or water bottle. Durable. I've used it several times a year. I like that it has writing all around the tube. Great for beginners who may struggle with buoyancy as it will hold you if you tend to sink. Tied down one lower corner to a pole so wind does not wrap it around the upper pole.

The seam breaks easily

The seam breaks easily. I used it twice and now there are several seam leaks that I can not solve. It is necessary to make stronger seams.

Decent dive flag

Good dive flash for the price. Flag could be attached a little better but is adequate. You need to fill the center pocket with a bit of water to make it more stable. Can put a GPS in the center pocket if you want to track your dive that way.

Inflatable dive flag float

My review is .... It's ok. The quality and construction I feel is quite good, but the major issue is that if there is any wind or small waves the float capsizes. I thought by putting a 5 pound lead weight inside of the float would fix the problem, but while diving one time with my wife at 50 feet down I saw the 5 pound weight pass between us falling to the ocean floor narrowly missing my wife. I of course did not tell her, but then went out and purchased a standard stick type dive flag float.

good idea poor performance

Falls apart in the wind and does not stay upright. Tried it in Hawaii - Maui first on the Lahaina on a windy day. It was upside down for most of the dive no ticket. Then used it back in Oregon and the wind blew it apart. Our conditions can be a bit sketchy. Then put the float in the car and went back to try a locate the flag. The float exploded from the heat in the car while I was looking for the flag. came apart at the seam. Good luck if you use it might try a weight in the bottom of the float and gorilla glue to connect flag to float.

fast, easy, and pack's up small

the places that I dive require that you have a marker buoy otherwise you could be getting a ticket for something that's easy to avoid.

Great Buy! Great Product!

Used this for the first time at Table Rock Lake, MO yesterday and it worked great! As another reviewer wrote, the bright yellow part saying diver below is especially nice for lake dives where not everyone may understand what the dive flag is. Easy to assemble and place, just make sure you've secured it well (we had to go swim after ours, completely our fault). Online I was concerned about the size but having used it i am fully confident in this product. I really have no complaints. If you don't buy it with a weight and line or forget them on a trip, its easy to just use extra rope and an old workout weight to keep it in place. It deflates/rolls up to almost nothing and will easily fit in a dive bag with your fins and other gear.

Best dive flag

Okay, the purpose of the flag is to not have your head turned into fish food by somebody's prop. That being said, this is 'hands down' the most visible flag on the market. For that reason alone it's my favorite. You can store accessories in the center compartment which is nice. I had the same tipping issue in high wind as the others, so I just tied a 2lb weight to it and it's been good ever since. One tip, if you store it completely deflated between dives, you may get leaks in the seams. I now store mine partially inflated and the problem went away.

Get a normal dive float. NOT this one.

We perchased 4 of these for the dive club i help run. We use them on every beach dive, in both very optimal and bad conditions. we have lost 3 of the flags at this point and have had at least 10 float flips over the period of 4 months and like ~25 dives. im planing on replacing these ASAP. ive gotten in trouble 2 times now with FWC for diving without a flag cuz the thing gets lost. the float only works in calm water. once u get waves forget it. FLIP.

safety float

I have tried many types of safety floats mostly cheaper models that were a total waste of money. I have not put this into the water yet but looks stable and functional floating in a pool. If you need a safety float don't go cheaper than this one you will just waste your money.

Great float for the value

Construction seems sturdy. Much more bang for the buck compared to similar priced items. Flag is not attached on the sides so it won't catch wind and stayed in the holders with no issue. Due to previous reviews about tipping I tied a small length of string to the bottom grommet of the flag and attached it to the float itself just in case. Attached a mesh bag and a few rocks to the bottom to weigh it down as previous reviews indicated it was easy to flip. Had no issues at all with it flipping in choppy water with some gusting and a bunch of boat traffic. Not hard to tow at all and storage compartment was large enough to carry extra weights, defog, spare rope and have plenty of room left over. Great lift and was able to hold onto it for support during surface interval.

Flipped Over & Flag Lost

The 1st time I used it from the boat the float flipped over and the flag fell out and sank. Need to secure the flag & pole assembly to the inflatable tube by a short cord attached to one of the lower grommet holes on the flag.

Cheaper than at my local dive shop

I had been looking at this at my local dive shop, but did not want to the pay price considering how simple it is. LeisurePro had this for half the price of my local dive shop. I did not hestitate to purchase it. It is exactly what we needed!

Flips over in the water a lot. Lost my flag the first day I used it. Needs some way of securing the flag.

Works like a charm ... multi use

Awesome price point. You can place extra stuff in the middle of the donut. I suggest also filling up the pouch area with water for extra stability (I also attached a 2 lb soft weight to 3 ft cord so this thing is completely stable in choppy waters).

Not for me

It appeared to be made of good construction, however once together there are no mechanical means of securing the flag poles to the sides of the bouy. Due to sea conditions during the first dive I took the dive flag out with me, the flag was unfunctional. The bouy flipped several times due to the waves and eventually the flag and poles were lost to the sea. The bouy itself also does not move smoothly in wave action. Unfortunantely the end result was I was dissatisfied with the product. I would not recommend this product, unless used in calm water I.e. springs.

Flag acts like a sail if there is wind.

Flag acts like a sail in the wind putting strain on the vinly slots the flag posts stick in. Causes premature failure. Not recommended for more than just casual occasional use.

Works but has some design issues.

Good item for the price but with both sides of the flag being secured it makes it into a great sail and if you dont have a good anchor will sail away and never be seen again, also in heavy waves need to put a lot of water in it to prevent it from tipping over.

Really nice float / buoy!

By Shore B.

This float is great. I used to use just a "normal" dive flag but I would have boats coming up to me to see what the flag was. (I know tell the DNR or the Coast Guard. I'm in an area of the great lakes with LOTS of recreational traffic and they have no clue what a dive flag is some times.) With this float it says diver below and has the flag. That did the trick. I have not had one boat come up to me while using it. I attached a 2lb hard dive weight to the bottom of it (it is made for ...

Easy to stow

By JIM W.

Suspend a weigh beneath the float to get better stability. I also, fill the center with water and stow a couple of extra pounds in the center in case I need them for students. I like the fact that I can collapse this and stow it in a nice little box with my other float, leaving more room for tanks, etc.

Being a safe diver is important as more and more people are taking to the water every year, and there is increased watercraft traffic in our favorite dive sites. Make sure to fly a flag when diving to alert watercraft operators that there are divers below! Flag is a traditional red & white diver-down flag. The Innovative Inflatable Flag-N-Float has a horizontal flag mount and inflatable buoy base that is easy to use. 22" (55.9cm) diameter buoy base and weight attachment strap provide excellent stability in rough water or while towing. When deflated, Flag-N-Float stores in your dive bag. Flag-N-Float sets-up quickly. Put a small dive light in the center compartment to illuminate the buoy at night. Complete with buoy base, 16" x 20" (40.6cm x 50.8cm) flag, break-down pole, towline attachment ring and weight clip strap (weight not included).
