Questions & Answers

Shopper : is there and attachment for a Rope or line ?darrick c : Hello, yes there is a loop hole on the bottom to tie a line too.
Shopper : is this legal in Florida?Central F : Yes, this flag satisfies the Florida law dive flag law for buoys and floats. Florida requires a 12"x12" flag with a wire stiffener.Lindell W : Sorry I have no idea. It is ok in Hawaii though.
Shopper : Is there a way to attach this buoy to a plastic tether that can be attached to a swim suit or upper arm?BRUCE B : There is a location on the bottom to attach a tether. For snorkeling we use a 10' cord with a Velcro wrist strap for Diving we use a 100 foot real.MARVIN N : Yes, you can connect a tether to the water fill plug that is on the bottom. The problem with pulling the float this way can lead to the flag pulling out and separating from the float. So I tied a string to the flag and to the water fill plug. I then connected the tether to the string to keep from losing the flag. MarvinClaude P : There is an attachment point located on the bottom of the buoy for the purpose of anchoring the buoy that could be used to attach a tetherJOHN M : There is an eye ring on bottom of float, yu can attach a line here .MILOSZ S : It has a small plastic loop at the bottom, so yes you can attach a spool easily to this buoy.
Shopper : How do you attach the flag to the float?CHARLES W : The flag is on a hard plastic shaft that simply inserts into the top of the inflatable.MIGUEL H : the flag is attached to a rigid plastic pole which inserts into a pocket in the center of the float body.VINCENT B : The flag is PVC vinyl and is wrapped around a semi-rigid plastic dowel, which inserts into a sleeve down the middle of the inflatable ball portion of the buoy. This buoy has it's pros and cons. It's very inexpensive and compact, but it's inflatable like a pool toy, so you're probably gonna buy another one eventually. Also, there is no flag stiffener, so in low winds the flag lies limply. Another common complaint is that in high winds the flag comes out of the middle tube, so you can loose the flag. Also, it's only about 24" from tip to bottom, so the visibility isn't the greatest. But it IS cheap, and takes up basically zero space in your bag. IMO, you are better off spending another 20 bucks and getting the donut style Flag-n-Float, or the Pocket Buoy, both of which are also inflatable.CHARLES E : There is a receptacle for th flag on top. Very easy to use and the flag is very stable even in rough seas.RICHARD G : Hey! This is an efficient way to let boaters know you're in the water. Worth the price. The flag is on a plastic tube (think a stiff heavy soda straw). The float itself has a reinforced hole at the top that accepts the tube. It has remained stationary in moderate winds. There is a section at the bottom of the float for balast. Its a little tricky, but if you fill it with water it keeps everything upright. I like this (as a snorkeler only) for its portability. For serious open-water diving you might consider something more cumbersome but also more stable. Good buy for the buck, as always! Teacher DickANDREW B : There is a plastic or fiberglass stick that goes through the side of the flag then sticks into the inflated section below. It stays in reasonably well as long as the lower section is fully inflated. It also has a pocket on the underside which is meant to be filled with water and then plugged back up. This keeps the float from tipping over and works pretty well. We use it on the boat as a second flag when diving that we drop on a weight a few hundred yards from the boat. Then we have a bigger one on the radio pole on the boat. The theory is we try to stay in the middle so we don't have to carry a flag and get tangled. I'd say if you are looking for an inexpensive flag that you can easily carry deflated in a bag then this one it pretty good. But if you are looking to use this as your only flag then there may be better (more expensive) options.RUSSELL G : it just plugs into a hole in the top of the float. its removable.
Shopper : Is it possible to get a replacement flag?LeisurePro S : The best replacement flag we have is <a href-"http://www.leisurepro.com/prod/aqufd07.html?search="op%3ddtSearch%26Term%3dflag%26SearchFlag%3dall%26AdvSrchSortField%3dRelevance%26DescSort%3d0%26Description%3don%26Hit%3d1"" target="_blank"> here</a> and can be attached to the vinyl float with some zip ties.

Airline travel flag

Easy to pack, better for travel than the typical flag. After exiting dive deflate slightly to make it easier to carrry with camera and other dive gear. Used many times when flying and diving in Florida, cheaper than renting a flag daily. Must fill bottom with water for stability.

Flag pole

After a period of time the flag pole broke and I replaced it with something a little more sturdy. All in all it worked great.

This is a nice, light duty inflatable dive flag. It does require you to pour water into a bottom compartment to ensure it stays upright. Also, the "diver below" graphics are not painted on the float; it's an additional plastic "wrap" that could easily be torn.

Piece of Junk

I bought this for a trip to Ft Lauderdale so I could do some shore diving. I though it would be good for traveling because it would pack easily and not take up much room. The first time I used it, the stick holding the flag broke when I was trying to put it in the top of the float. It was unusable after that. What waste of money.

a good value for the money

Easy to carry and inflate. Easy to pull through the water with very little drag. Never seem to last more than a season or two without leaking, but they are cheap so I have several which I place around my kayak in heavy boat trafficked areas. I glue the flag in place because it tends to fall out .

Perfect

Great for travel or for local. Can use as an assent line if needed. Highly visible. Not sure if it meets all legal guidelines but I think it is clearer to non divers than a dive flag alone.

Does the job nicely!

I love this flag/float combo. Its easy to use and very lightweight. Seems to be made well and I expect it will hold up a long time. Bottom has a chamber for adding sand or water to make it more stable in the water (I have tried it with and without water in the bottom, and recommend using water in the base as it is more stable then) very stable in the water and is pretty visible. Would be nice if they made a version where the inflatable base was bright yellow (like another float that is sold on the site) Only downside is the flag does not have a rod in that spans the flag diagonally to keep it extended, but that would keep it from rolling up, so its a trade off.

Great product and best service!

I have a dual use for it. If snorkeling from the beach, as a "Diver Below" signal to boaters. If snorkeling from a boat (with a 'Diver Below' flag attached to it)...as the end buoy of a transom safety line to help with currents.

BE SAFE

If you dive in lakes or rivers this float is a must. A few boaters have a six pack or two running through their vains and are not paying too much attention. This float will help to let people know a diver is in the water and may prevent a watercraft from running over you. In California the law requires you to have a float if your diving in a lake. It deflates and packs easy into your dive bag, great for travel. It has two chambers, the lower chamber fills with water to give it weight, the upper chamber you inflate with air. I just added a one pound weight to the bottom and I did not have to add water to the lower chamber.

Packable Dive Flag

This is a good packable dive flag for casual/recreational use. However, I found adding a small weight to the bottom kept it more upright. It is difficult to fill the bottom compartment with water. Be careful if snorkeling around rocky islands!

Works Great

Pretty neat product. Works like an inflatable beach ball, but the plastic is a little heavier. It has a pocket on the bottom to put ballast and I would suggest putting some lead fishing weights in there. Worked great for me.

great marker for a great price

Used this for shore diving in Pensacola FL area. Had it attached to a spool of rope I bought from [...] and it worked fine. It was very easy to pull through the surf and currents. The only downside is the bottom weight area. seems like I could get enough water in there for it to stay upright soundly. I even tried stuffing some sand in there as well. As a result I had to keep pressure on the attached line to ensure it would stay upright. If the surf did catch it and toss it around the flag will come out rather easily. you may want to get a 2-4ox fishing weight and tie it to the bottom to ensure it won't tip over.

Great price and great for air travel!

This flag was perfect for fitting in our luggage, light weight, not bulky, and it held up under some pretty choppy conditions. For the price, it's a great buy.

All you really need for most situations

The flag can be replaced with a larger or taller one if you like, but it's not really necessary. If conditions are rough enough to sink this thing you shouldn't be diving anyway.

Can't beat it for the price

A bit flimsy and I'm not sure if the flag will fly away in winds, but the float itself is a nice marker to show boaters we are under the water. Good enough for what I am looking for.
