Shopper : Does this cap have a way to relieve pressure, in case the cylinder is opened while the cap is screwed on?Steven D : The correct answer is YES, this cap does have a way to relieve pressure in case the cylinder is opened while the cap is screwed on. The string lanyard is passed through a hole through the center of the cap. Air will flow out the hole along the string if the cylinder valve is opened. It works. I just tested it.CHARLES H : No, it does not. It is designed to keep debris out of the valve not to keep air in the tank.DAVID F : Yeah it does - the lanyard is threaded thru the hole and tied in a knot, and some air can vent thru that hole as well. Very slow leaks can be accommodated I would think. But you don't want to crack the valve with the cap in it. It is plastic.The area is just under a half square inch. if you crack the valve on a 3,000 psi cylinder as there will be over a half ton of force trying to blow that sucker out of there. Don't get me wrong - I use these on all ten of my tanks. However, I only partly screw them in. It is a dust cover. I don't know what would happen if you screwed one in tight and then opened the tank valve. That's all I got. :-)LINZY K : The cap does not seal air tight. There is a hole through the cap that also allows for the attachment of the lanyard. This prevents any build up of pressure.BILL Z : It does have a vent hole through the cap.

A Must have for Din tanks

These plugs are much better than the rubber "hood" type of covers for din tanks. I replaced all of mine with these
