I know if needed they have adapters for all hose sizes. I have a Dive Rite and didn’t need an adapter.

s b : How many decibels does the new model produce? How far away from the diver's ears is it mounted?GARY M : I recently used the device on a spearfishing trip in FL. It was required by the dive operation along with a see me sausage. You could barely hear the horn while on the surface with a hood. The crew however would respond immediately when signaling. I simply held the unit out of the water and pointed it directly at the boat without regard to where I was holding it. Hope this helps.PAUL T : It is installed on your power inflator on the bcd.It is held over your head.It makes a big sound much louder than you can.Very highly recomendeed when you may incounter currents that take you away from the dive boat.It also cheerps underwater to get attenion from a wandering dive buddy. It is required equipment in some areas.,.Instructor Paul,.OWSI 165870STEVEN K : I have no idea how many decibels it produces. Im sure the manufacturers website can help you with that. I can tell you that it is attached to my Air2 which is inflater/octopus in one and is not far from my ear. When I use it I drop under a few inches so my ears are in water. Its loud!MARK C : This thing is very loud and you do not want it anywhere near your ears. Its mounted at the end of tour BCD hose put your head underwater when you use it so you will not damage your ears -hold it up in the air to useJEFFREY H : Ours are mounted on the low pressure hose right above the inflator valve for BC. You could probably get it about 15 inches from the left ear. BUT: as with all DiveAlerts, if you need to sound it, you & buddy should get your ears under the water or it WILL hurt. We have done that for decades and it makes it tolerable. This model seems about as loud as earlier ones. Decibels? No idea. But let off a stray blast on the dive boat and everyone aboard and on adjacent boats will tell you it's real unpleasant and possibly make comments on your ancestry. JSUSAN M : I don't know how many decibals, but it is VERY loud. It is mounted near the end of the inflater hose. Since it needs to be out of the water when it is used, you lift the inflater hose being careful to hold it away from your ears and warning the divers nearby tomcover their ears.
Daniel A : Does it work underwater?JEFFREY H : Sorry, haven't tried them - next dive is next month. Original DiveAlerts were not supposed to work under water, then they issued one which was supposed to . . . never was even close to loud enough under water in our experience. I will try the new ones and email @ end of May. We bought these for surface (air) use and they sound like the old DiveAlerts used to! JJAMES J : No. It is not intended to work underwater. There are other models/brands that work underwater or combine both functions. IMHO, get something that does not use your precious air to signal your buddy. A clicker, rattle, etc. Fewer points of failure, etc.PAUL T : yep.MARK C : I have not tried mine underwater yet but if you use it above water make sure its away from ears as it REALLY LOUDMichael B : Nope...not meant to signal underwater...JEFF K : I do not believe it works underwater. Above the surface it is LOUD!SUSAN M : NoMARK M : As a dive instructor it is absolutelythe best signaling device i havr used underwateror topsideANTON N : It's muted however will catch the attention of fellow divers within 10-20 yards

Worked like it was supposed to

Worked great, easy to assemble and helped my guide notice that a turtle was swimming directly under him when I sounded the horn. This model is plastic and my old one was metal, hence the 4 star verses 5 star rating. I would purchase again as I really do like the item.

Duck call verses signal whistle.

I gave my original to my wife for a drift dive. I purchased another one that was duel purpose. It sounded like a duck call and wasn't very loud. The boat captain complained every time I used it. Once home I contacted Leasure Pro and ordered a replacement. Now I can be heard miles away. This thing is GREAT.

Exactly what I like

Came in quick and looked as it was supposed to. Works well. Loud enough to get attention from at least 200 yards away on a windy day. Doesn’t leak.

Always dive with it

There are a few pieces of equipment that are essential for your Life Safety while diving. A reliable, robust surface signaling device is one of them. I have used a Dive-Alert for years. When the LP seat was no longer reparable, I replaced it, before my next dive. While low maintenance, it does appreciate a fresh water rinse and a LP air blow-out. Stay safe and keep the current pushing your fins.

Dive Alert

I had a slow leak on my inflator hose when the dive alert was attached. None of the dive shop crew could fix it. I left it in Indonesia.

Dive Alert

Easy to use and very effective. Hardly audible on the surface but got the crews attention immediately.

Duck call verses signal whistle.

By RICHARD S.

New look, slick re-design of the original, audible surface signal. Dive Alert is a specially designed, small, lightweight air horn that uses quick-connect/disconnect hose couplings to become an integrated part of your power inflator, breathable/inflator and buoyancy compensator. Installation is easy and only takes a moment. Why have Dive Alert? What would you do in a diving emergency if you needed to get the attention of the pick-up boat or someone else on the water's surface? Before Dive Alert Scuba divers had relied on whistles or a SMB (surface marker buoy) as their only signaling devices in such an emergency. But if the diver is disabled and can't blow into a whistle (or deploy the SMB) the whistle makes no sound at all. Or if the boat operator is not looking in the direction of a diver with a SMB deployed (if the diver was able to even deploy the SMB) the diver goes unnoticed.

Equally frustrating (and dangerous), if a diver needs to attract the attention of someone who is too far away to hear the whistle, the whistle is of no help. In contrast, Dive Alert enables divers, at the mere touch of a button, to generate a blast of sound that can be heard up to a mile (1.6 km) away! There are three different models available; one for approximately 85% of standard power inflator mechanisms model DB1. There are several breathable/inflator mechanisms that require a larger coupling for a higher flow of air so there are two models to accommodate them. The model DB2 and the model DB3 (see list below).

Installation is easy and takes only a moment. Dive Alert does not require any modification of your other equipment, and it does not interfere in any way with its normal operation. When you need to get someone's attention on the water's surface, you simply press a button and Dive Alert uses a small amount of air from your scuba tank to make a piercingly 132db loud sound; even as little as 100psi will give you a full-throated screech. The Dive Alert is manufactured with a durable impact resistant injected molded thermoplastic body, stainless-steel horn diaphragm and the actuator valve and quick-disconnect/connect coupling are chrome plated brass.
