Questions & Answers

Shopper : Not 100% on how to correctly use this. Could some one upload a pic of it on their computer?RICHARD S : My gear is put away but it's simple, I use this to secure my gauge console: The hook clips to a metal loop on my BCD and the long elastic cord secures to my console, when I want to view my gauges I simply reach for them and stretch the cord to have a look, when finished it springs back to where it was... I have other types but like this one the best...MICHAEL H : You loop the rope end to a lanyard hose on your console. Did not like it so I returned it for a similar item with caribeeners on each end.DELBERT M : I was a little baffled by it too. I finally decided the only way it could work would be to push the little closed loop end (at one end of the long tube like retainer) through a D-ring on my BCD. Then I threaded the larger clip end through the closed loop end after making the opening larger by pulling it out a ways through the tube. Then just pull it tight and you will have the elastic pull looped through itself around the D-ring to hold it fast, with the protective tube extending away toward the clip end. I guess the tube is to protect the elastic and to keep it closely gathered. I used this device for a few years on my console w/air gauge and computer and compass. When it finally broke, I just retied the elastic and continued using it--although the tube fell off and was lost when the elastic snapped. I continued to use it until I got a little better one that came as a pkg deal with a new dive light. I still have it and another one just like it. Very simple and easy to use--Just grab and pull whatever it is connected to and bring it into range and then let it go when you're done.JOEL B : Due to its length, I hook the plastic clip (1pm position in the product picture) to the metal (or plastic) O on my BC at the chest level (I prefer the permanent/ nonmoveable one. the moveable one is the one at the end of the BC shoulder strap adjuster and ends up in different positions depending on how my tank is positioned, wet suit use, and general comfort that day. Using the non-movable one, I always have it in a consistent location. Leave the rubber sleeve on the elastic. Put your computer (which I assume is mounted into a housing with your pressure gauge through the loop (2pm position in the picture). You can then tighten down the sleeve to minimize the loop to a reasonable size where the elastic hooks to the clip (7pm on the picture).
Shopper : Is the extension long enough to use when compass is part of the combo?LeisurePro S : I don't know the exact size of your console, but I don't foresee you having a problem.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?TODD M : A freind highly recommended this.ROB S : FunctionalityRICHARD M : Broke rather quicklyJENNY H : wanted a keeper for my gages...HATE this thing. useless. Lets gage drag. I just tuck mine in by BC now.Antonio A : It is nice to have every thing in place and handy, and for the price you can`t go wrongGEORGE W C : oh yeah,,ROBERT D : thought i would use it but never have.CHUCK C : Goods console holder in the absence of a retractor.PAUL J : like to have the guage system easy to find when diving.GERALD O : Inexpensive way to help protect your computer.LENORE N : works well to secure camera to BCERIC W : universal fit for all consoles, ease of use.MICHAEL B : Excellent quality. Serves its purpose very well!

Great for Helping to Streamline Gear

Excellent, used to attach my backup computer tightly to my chest. Great for streamlining but also allows for it to be pulled out easily to read display if needed.

Keeps your console streamlined

I purchased this for my partner to keep him from dragging his console in the sand. Works great.

great idea

Great idea, I just wish there were instructions or suggestions as to how to use it as there are at least a couple ways to connect it.

Great concept, too much plastic.

This is a great concept but it works better with a bolt snap. You could make your own with bungee line and some semi rigid rubber tubing. I tossed the plastic and used a small SS bolt snap. I like where it positions my console.

Works great.

I used it to hold my SPG. the short leash held it close to my side so I could glance down to see pressure and bungee let me pull it right up to my face to watch ascent depths.

Nice & Simple

This worked really well, and it's simple. My wife & I have both used consoles for our computers for years but we just moved to the Oceanic Pro Plus 3 computer. This is a pretty large computer...cause our eyes are getting old... but it's the first time we haven't felt a need to hold on to the console throughout the dive. Never had any problem locating the concole

Golden zone ergonomics.

Once I had this in place it was so relaxing and comforting to always have your computer at your finger tips. It helps with your dive form as well. I hold onto my computer as I dive because the console has it right there, so natural feeling. This keeps one from using their arms unnecessarily. Saves air and makes you a better diver. Love it....

Good utility strap

On the fence on this, great price, useful but just ok. Nothing wrong from a manufacturing point and does what it should but next purchase will just be something a bit heaftier.

Loving my CONS-HOLD

I wanted something to hold my computer close to me but still allow it to be easily reached and used. I attach it to the D ring on my BCD and its keeps it right by my chest. I can still so my dive buddy my computer if needed. I've had it on nearly 8 dives in 3 months and its holding up well so far. My dive buddy is considering getting one for his gauges as well.

Works like it should

I use this retractor for my primary dive light, so I don't use it all the time. It remains attached to my BC, but I only attach my dive light to it for night dives. It's a good retractor.

Handy Addition

Perfect addition that I clip my dive computer to my BCD so I know exactly where it is everytime. Very functional and unclips so the dive computer can go with my regulator at the end of the dive and the clip stays on my BCD for next time. Very functional and easy to use.

Average

This is a cheaper alternative to a retractor. Whether or not it works for you will depend on your equipment and set up. It gets the job done but next time I would probably pay a little extra and purchase a mini retractor.

Works fine, just doesn't necessarily cinch super tight, so there is still some dangling of the console or light...

Just what i needed

Great product

By Bucket

I bought one from [...] a few years ago and it is still working great. I have bought several more for other divers in my family.

We always need to attach more stuff to our equipment to free up our hands when we need them. Lanyards for lights, cameras, gauges, game bags, or maybe even a fish stringer when spear fishing. This Console Extender mounts in seconds. Simply thread the Cons-HOLD back through its elastic loop so that it holds your console snugly. Cons-Hold keeps your console at the same viewing angle throughout your dive.

When you need to see your gauges up close it extends to twice its length. When you're finished monitoring your dive information it retracts to its original viewing angle even after being pulled by another diver for a reading. Con-Holder has durable rubber tubing over abrasion resistant polyester bungee cord material, with a non-corrosive squeeze-style plastic quick-release buckle and swivel gate clip snap for attachment to gear. It's always good to have some extra clips in your save-a-dive-kit.
