the one time we tested it it was quite loud above water but no one heard it underwater. And the model they recommended did not fit the BCD I told them I had, so I gave it to my brother in law who tried it. loss of $85USD

I had high hopes for this product and after testing it on 10 dives, the best noise I could get out of the underwater Duo Alert was similar to blowing a raspberry at someone, underwater. My dive buddy couldn't hear it all unless he was within a meter. The topsideDuo Alert was no better. Beyond 2 meters the noise it made fell into the background noise. Our conclusion is that the Duo Alert is quieter than blowing the whistle attached to your BC. I sent mine back for a refund.

Topside noise maker is not as loud as my last one. You really need to shake out the water for it to scream. The rest works fine.

Underwater signal okay. Works better at depth (with less ambient noise). Have to hold button down for over 10 seconds with surface signal to clear out water before a moderate whistle is heard - not great for panic situation.

I bought this so as to combine the underwater "quacking" of my Aquatec Scub Alert with the ear splitting safety signal of my Dive Alert Signaling Device in on convenient package. Well the "quacker" works great but the surface horn is a feeble joke. I put on hearing protectors and threw the dogs outside. When I triggered it I had to take off my earmuffs to make sure it was working. The volume is much less than a regular whistle. I was excited to see this product because the previous attempt to combine surface and underwater signaling "the Dive Alert Plus" was also a bust. It had a great surface horn but a useless underwater signal. This dog is going back to Leisure Pro. Sure wish Dive Alert and Aquatec would build a joint product
