The Akona AKB144 seems to be a great bag so far. One problem I've had so far on my first trip is the zipper on the smaller pocket broke. I'm a little disappointed in that. However the size and usability of the bag are perfect.

The bag holds all of the scuba equipment for my wife and I. My only complaint is that when its full, it tends to tip over easily. Otherwise, I'm happy with it.

I’ve been traveling with the Akona AKB144 dive bag with wheels for over fourteen years. The bag has a few small tears and small puncture holes and I have replaced most of the zipper pulls. I guess that’s expected when you travel with a dive bag 3 to 4 times per year. The Akona dive bag outlasted three business suit cases. I dunk the dive bag in fresh water after diving and I thoroughly hose the bag down when I return home. It’s tasted a lot of salt water over the years. I carry a bunch of personal gear because I don’t like to rent and I prefer having back up gear on liveaboard trips. I’m also the guy that carry’s a few tools to make small repairs and support fellow divers. My favorite compartments are the two fin pockets. I use TUSA X-Pert Zoom split fins that are 29” long and they fit perfectly. I keep my logbook, safety sausage, flashlight and a few personal items in the top outside pocket and I keep accessories/tools in the flat regulator bag in the lower outside pocket. I carry my regulator(s), dive computer and camera on the plane in one of the older Akona specialty bags. I am honestly amazed that my dive bag made it fourteen years. The wheels are absolutely amazing and very rugged. I’ve rolled that bag through the nastiest conditions and they still work. The pull handle finally broke and that is why my Akona is now retired. As far as bag weight at the airport, it always weighs in at fifty pounds. Lift the bag using the top handle and the large bottom brace. If you cannot lift fifty pounds, ask your dive buddy to grab one end. Travel bags are unique to every person. If you plan to travel and you dive multiple times per year, get yourself a durable, reliable bag that is easy to roll. Fortunately, my Akona bag did very, very well. That is the reason I am buying a second Akona. Good luck with your decision. John/TX

Love this bag. This is the second time I have purchased this bag. It is large enough to fit a full set of gear and still have a little room for extra travel stuff. Very Durable My bags are always overweight so the handles and wheels are nice for moving the bag around.

This is my second Akona roller backpack and I will never buy another one. The second one is made even worse than the first. I liked the design so thought I’d give it a second try. After a few flights the fin pockets have torn. Great design / poor quality

I love this bag but after a half dozen trips it is coming apart. There are rips in both fin compartments. One wheel is wobbling. The interior has broken plastic.

So I have this bag for two years and it is done. The two fin pockets are ripped across the top. There is a number of punch holes in this bag and the pulled on the zippers are missing. So in conclusion yes this bag looks like well build one and very durable but, unfortunately it is not. At $250 I would expect a few more years out of it.

This bag has room to hold gear for 2 divers. I was getting hit by airlines for excess baggage fees due to the size of my Aqualung roller bag. I don't have that issue with the Akona bag.

The bag is very large and will hold pretty much all your gear. Seems to be very sturdy as well, hopefully airport proof. Haven't used it to travel yet but there is plenty of room for all gear and some extra clothes or goods if needed. The only adverse thing I would say is that the dry weight (unpacked) is 15 lbs therefore, you only have 35 lbs max you can load for airlines which has a limit of 50 lbs without charging extra.

We have used this gear bag for two big dive trips this year - one to Grand Cayman and the other to Belize. Able to stuff two sets of fins/masks/snorkles/booties in with two full size Zeagle BCDs and still stay right at 50 lbs. The two regulators and large dive light needed to go in the Akona reg bag (also included) and this went on the airplane with use. Had to make minor repairs (add two bolts where two rivets popped)to the handle frame inside the case after trip #2. Seems to be a pretty good bag.

Fits all my gear plus more. Full 7ml wetsuit,BCD, boots, hood, gloves, weights. and I think i could fit a dry suit in there as well! Its huge! Love the bag, solid make. Reg bag is awesome can fit 2 sets of Lg Fins, Great buy!

Too heavy for staying under the 50 pound airline limit with two sets of gear. Packed regulators in carry on and had to put both wetsuits in carry on for the return trip to account for wet gear.

My husband and I are able to fit both of our complete gear set-up's in this one bag! I primarily use it for just my own gear, but am grateful to be able to travel with just one bag for all of our gear collectively. I could not be happier with this bag!! I have owned it for 7 years and I do about 315 dives a year and it is just starting to show some wear. I will DEFINITELY purchase again!!! Well worth the money!!!!

Poor choice of materials and quality of construction. Pockets are largely useless when used as a checked luggage. VERY tight zippers - closing a packed bag is a challenge in and off itself. Very heavy. No direct customer service in the US to deal with defects.

I have had this bag for 5+ years and have made numerous international trips with this bag and it has no broken parts or zippers. Everything still works as if it was brand new. VERY durable bag. I highly recommend. The only issue I have with this bag is that it holds so much stuff it usually exceeds luggage weight limits at the airport.

After 1 trip, a fin pocket was ripped at the corner. The other fin pocket started coming unsewn. The front panel also came apart at the seam, the fabric sort of frayed apart. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone.

The backpack allows us to travel with all of our scuba gear and add in clothes as well. Another good use is to transport our backpacking equipment easily. The extra storage spaces allow us access to needed items quickly.

Traveling down to Belize from GP Ab I never had an issue with any of the big airlines even tho I was on a smaller plane Dash 8 no problem at checking in at all. It fits all my gear plus my clothing and I'm not a small boy at 6ft4in.

I bought two of these and have had them for 4-6 years. After a couple of years the wheels and telescoping handle rusted out. The materials where the zippers are attached will start to fray and eventually tear. Now, I only use the second one carry my equipment when I travel overseas. I try not to expose it to salt water directly, as I expect more rusting. I would only buy this product to carry dive gear overseas, when it doesn't have to be exposed directly to salt water.

This bag was large enough to fit my and my husband's dive gear. (Two of everything except the regulator.) We are estimating it at about 55 pounds right now - we'll see for sure when we get to the airport next month. The bag being over the airline weight might be the only problem - but that is an airline issue, not a bag issue.

This bag is nice and will do the job for sure ! But it s too big for airplane check in, while your travel, they will charge you extra $$$$so rather go with a smaller one. Don't take me wrong quality is there.

Very easy to roll with plenty of space. I found that if it was big enough for all my wet suits, it would be too big. Therefore, it is perfect.

I am a recreational diver and travel to the Florida Keys often. This bag holds all of my gear as well as my son's gear. It rolls easy on its over sized wheels. The backpack feature is nice when I have a couple of tanks to carry also. I highly recommend this bag!

My husband and I had been shopping our local dive shop for luggage to tote our equipment around in. And the prices we found to be expensive. I found this on leisurepro and was not sure if it was going to be big enough to house all of our stuff. Then checking with our local dive shop again and the dimensions of the bags that they carried, the one I found on leisurepro was bigger than the one in store! So we bought two right away. And these things were huge. We went diving for the first time wi...

This is Akona's most versatile and popular bag. The standard by which all other bags are judged, because of its heavy-duty wheels and dual pull #10 Delrin zipper around the main compartment opening with heavy-duty bronze corrosion resistant sliders. Its features boast of an extension handle that locks into both 10" and 17" (25.4cm and 43.2cm) positions for easy maneuvering in all conditions, with zippered hide-away closure. The main compartment of the bag has reinforced panels on back and bottom, along with side, front and top padding for added protection. A mesh sleeve that can be used to hold the included water bottle, or sunscreen, lotion, bug spray, etc.
Embroidered Akona padded top and side handles reinforced with box-stitching for increased durability for comfort in carrying, side fin pockets with built-in drainage panels and silent shock-absorbing skate wheels that are impervious to salt, sand, dust, dirt and will not rust like metal roller bearings. When maneuvering through a busy terminal or down a boat dock becomes difficult just unzip the hidden padded shoulder straps and sling it on your back for those tight or rough rolling situation A regulator pocket with padded regulator bag; interior straps to keep load secure and prevent shifting; and a padded accessory pocket with key clip.
Bag measures 31" x 21" x 14" (78.7cm x 53.3cm x 35.6cm) has 9,114 cubic inches (150 liters) of volume and weighs 15 lbs. (6.8 kg). Regulator Bag measures 12" X 12" X 3" (27.9cm x 27.9cm x 7.6cm) and a volume of 432 cubic inches (7 liters). Bag is constructed with 600D poly-natural fiber blend with polyurethane interior coating. This material is incredibly durable, water and stain resistant. Bag also includes a security sleeve that allows use of the telescoping handle and wheels and a luggage tag.
