You might try taller boots for sand.DAVID G : Don't know anything about metal detecting, but sand certainly won't get through these booties. It might come in over the top. If you're in deep loose sand, you might want something taller, but I think they'd work fine on a typical sand beach.

Shopper : I usually use a regular cut boot. I am new to diving and wondering if this boot accommodates the open back strap Scuba pro Fine comfortably?ROBERT L : I use the low boot in open heel fins. If your regular cut boot has the same thin soles as the Akona, I can seen no reason why it shouldn't fit. My spring heel strap on my Scubapro fin does ride on the back of the low boot comfortably, and not on my bare heel.BEVERLY R : Yes, my fins have an open back strap and they work fine. Also, they are lighter weight than higher cut styles.JONATHAN M : I have use them for my warm water diving and have never had an issue with them. They hold the strap well. I have spring straps on my tusa fins.RICHARD F : I have used these with open back strap fins for years, in my case the TUSA split fins. I find them more comfortable than full boots as I am a dive master with over 1000 dives who dives in the tropics and wear a 3 mil shorty.DEBBIE S : Not sure about this brand, but my husband uses them with Mares backstrao fins comfortably.MARK D : I use them all the time. They work fine for me, but if I were to another pair, I would choose a pair with stronger heel, so the straps don't push in, which makes taking them off in the water harder, before climbing up the boat ladders. The chart said that if you wear a women's 9.5 shoe you should by a size 8 boot. I did that and had to send them back for a 9, so...not sure how to make sure other than trying them on. Good booties

Very Satisfied

I found this boot/slipper to be very flexible and easy to get on and off. I'm not struggling anymore like I did with my hightop bootie. It keeps my feet warm and I'm very satisfied.

Akona's Low Cut Boot is made of 3mm Nylon 2Neoprenewith glue and blind stitched seams for a superior water seal. Boots have Airprene side panels which allow for water to drain while providing protection and warmth. The Low-Cut Boots have been redesigned to provide a better fitting, warmer dive boot.

The new improved Akona boot sole provides exceptional no-slip grip texture. This new spike-like rubber sole features a deep cut pointed texture that drastically reduces hydroplaning across a boat deck, dock, sidewalk or floor. 30% thicker than the average vulcanized rubber sole, Akona's new sole design provides comfort, stability and confidence while being worn before, during and after the dive.
