I have used (and replaced) this computer for 15 years. It is very conservative which is good. I don't recommend the QD (quick disconnect) which is mostly unnecessary and something else that can go wrong. I prefer the "card compass" as opposed to the electronic compass, but you do have treat it carefully (don't bang it around too much) or the card will come off the spindle.

I really had to read the manual before I did anything to set up the computer. The directions are not very clear and some trial-and -error is required. After the setup, the computer works well and is accurate. I have not yet tried nitrox settings, so I don't know if that will be difficult or not.

I was excited to purchase this computer but a little over two years of minimal use (just past the warranty expiration) the computer started deploying that I was constantly diving. This was not the fault of the diver with 30+ years of experience nor was it the result of temporary no fly period. It is an inherent and well-known defect in the design of the product which causes it to think it is diving even when at the surface. The crime of this is that it cannot be fixed. I spent over $600 on the computer and now it is a paperweight. Completely worthless. Do not waste your money on Suunto. They know of this design flaw and have not fixed the issue. All Suunto products share this design flaw. You've been warned. Check out scuba blogs on this issue; I wish I had before wasting my money on this Suunto.

I've had this DC since mid 2007 and it still works great! One complaint is when I set it up for Nitrox it reverts back to a default setting after a period of time of inactivity. And another complaint is trying to remember all the sequences to go thru to change to Nitrox, etc. Nonetheless, never had a minutes trouble with the DC not working.

Very nice dive computer. Quick disconnect and easily downloads dive info to my mac. Very cool. Three buttons control all functions. The compass is very good and works when tilted. Once you get the hang of the computers menus it is all good. A solid value at this price point.

I absolutely love my new Cobra air integrated dive computer! I received it shortly after ordering it and it works wonderfully. It is well built with quality parts and I am completely satisfied with this purchase. I will be shopping again at Scuba.com for my other diving needs.

I use this dive computer for wreck diving, cold water diving and tropical recreation diving. As well as some night diving from time to time. The only problem with this computer is that it is very conservative and freaks out at little things. If you ascend too fast for whatever reason from whatever depth, deep or shallow, it's liable to lock you out for 24 hours. Also, it gives you a "no fly" symbol after the shallowest of dives. It actually gave me a no fly signal after I put it in my dunk tank for 2 minutes. Other than that, this computer is just fine. It's very conservative, so would do fine for an average vacation diver. But it also supports nitrox up to 50% and supports pO2 up to 1.6. It's somewhat simple to operate (no dive computers are nowadays) for what it is and works fine for deep dives. Overall, despite the cons I mentioned over the pros (I'm just trying to be informative) its a good, full featured dive computer. Also note, the housing of this computer is not a hard polycarbonate like you'd think. It's actually a somewhat hard, moderately flexible rubber. And this is a good things because it is more durable and handles dents and dings and bumps. Also note, DO NOT spend the extra $ on the cable and download software. The cable can't hold a connection to save its life. The contacts are too small and the locking mechanism to lock the cable in place doesn't even work.

This instrument was used lightly since 08. Stopped working this year...lightly means less than 10 dives with the unit. No warranty, and repair is not an option, according to company. So I have a [$] paper weight with Suunto written on it...bright side is my paper weight has a compass.

I purchased this sight unseen...big mistake. The battery was near dead, the compass is really cheap and the software wasn't included but...you could buy it for another $75 bucks. While trying to get over my first impressions, I did use it and I purchased the quick disconnect and the software. No surprise when the USB connector didn't work and there were no instructions or diagrams on how to put anything together. While I was able to download the software without a problem, I still couldn't get it to find my dive computer. I heard people say that with the connection you have to "wiggle it" or "play with it"...really? Is that the way $700 equipment you rely on to keep you alive should work? To put the icing on the cake, the software had a HELP tab where they link you to;[@]You try it and see what happens. I guess they got too many requests so they decided to shut it down. After spending a decent amount of money and seeing the poor quality of the compass and USB connector, let alone the lack of customer support from the manufacture, I am extremely nervous relying on this as my primary dive computer. Stay away!

Suunto Cobra is an air-integrated console-mounted dive computer that combines versatile features with a user-friendly design and navigation capabilities. Suunto Cobra simplifies your diving experience because all the information you need relating to depth, time, tank pressure and decompression status is available on one easy-to-read screen. The three-button operation makes the Cobra a snap to use; even if you're wearing thick dive gloves It is air and nitrox compatible and offers you every opportunity to make the most of your time underwater The Cobra displays your tank pressure and remaining air time; two key features to keep you safe and below the surface as long as possible. The Cobra graphs each dive profile and has a dive simulator, which offers you to run through your dive without getting your feet wet!
Navigating the Menu:
Suunto Cobra has four main operating modes - TIME mode (TIME), DIVE mode (DIVE), PLAN mode (PLAN), and MEMORY mode (MEMORY). To toggle between the main modes, press the MODE button. To select a sub mode in DIVE, PLAN and MEMORY modes, press the UP/DOWN buttons. Simple, intuitive and user friendly the Cobra. The Cobra uses the Suunto RGBM algorithm developed by Suunto and Bruce R. Wienke, BSc, MSc, PhD. The goal of Suunto is to keep you safe. The computer has a 36 hour of diving logbook memory. The Cobra provides audible alarms and notifications for dive time, maximum depth, tank pressure, high pO2, fast ascents, and decompression ceiling violations. The Cobra has a back lite display which makes seeing your dive data easy during night and day dives. Cobra provides a depth display range from 0' to 492' (0 to 150m) with an operational range of 0' to 262' (0 to 80m), its clock can be set with a 12 or 24 hour format, provides temperature reading above and below the surface to 1.5°F (1°C) accuracy and is altitude adjustable up to 10,000' (3,000m). The computer can be programed for Nitrox mixtures from 21% to 50% oxygen and displays oxygen partial pressures from 17.4 psi to 23.2 psi (1.2 to 1.6 bars). The Cobra is powered by a user replaceable 3 volt CR2450 lithium ion battery. The Cobra has a pressure readout of 4,000 psi (300 bars) with a maximum allowed pressure of 5,000 psi (360 bars). The Computer can be set for imperial (feet) or metric (meter) measurements. Computer comes with an owner's manual and USB cable. For safety of your investment the Cobra is equipped with a quick disconnect hose fitting allowing you to disconnect the computer from the 7/16" threaded high pressure hose. This feature allows you to stow your computer separately from your regulator system and is convenient for logging and downloading dive information.
Many divers take compasses for granted, considering them just an accessory to an overall dive gauge console system. Trying to navigate with a poorly designed or improperly functioning compass can be one of diving's more frustrating events. The Suunto Compass design is liquid filled compass with a list of features as functional and convenient as every instrument that bears the Suunto name.
The SK-8 has set a new standard for dive compasses. The superior SK-8 features an exceptional tilt potential of +/- 30°, which is 2-3 times larger than in conventional diving compasses. SK-8, the latest edition of Suunto's leading dive compasses, delivers even better underwater performance with faster stabilization and enhanced readability. The instrument can be used over a wider area of the globe thanks to an upgraded magnet. The SK-8 Compass has easy-to-read numerals on a phosphorescent compass card, and a large side-reading window for gun-sight accurate navigation.
The firm-grip rotating bezel with a ratchet at every fifth degree is especially designed to prevent sand-and-dirt contamination, thus allowing smooth turning in all conditions. The compass bezel has compass headings in 30° numbered increments and indicator-marks for every 5°. Bezel has twin-heading indicators for alignment of compass course and a lubber line across the compass face. The compass is liquid filled for a quick-and-responsive movement. Durable rubber boot has side notch for side reading navigation.
Please note: The compass we sell is calibrated for Zone 1/NH (Northern Hemisphere)
