The Aquacom STX-101 surface transceiver is a 5-watt, multichannel, single sideband underwater telephone designed with the Professional Search & Rescue Teams in mind. The STX-101 offers four channels that match the SSB-2010. This system is tough, powerful and a must for any serious Search & Rescue Team. STX-101 is also very affordable! The Aquacom STX-101 has a nominal range of 200m to 300m (656' to 984'). Range may differ depending on ambient noise.
The STX-101 is equipped with four channels, including Channel 1 (32.768 kHz upper sideband), which is commonly used by sport divers. Most of the Buddy Phone systems utilize Channel 1, (see SKU's: OTSMKIIBUD, OTSBPG). If an STX-101 user makes a selection other than Channel 1, 2, 3, or 4, the transceiver will emit a beeping sound to alert the user that the selected channel is not available. The unit is rated at 5 watts and comes standard with a 32.768 kHz transducer assembly and a hand-held microphone. Optional rechargeable batteries and a charger are available, although alkaline batteries can be used. The STX-101 is designed to operate primarily with the SSB-2010 commercial transceiver (see SKU: OTSASSB) but also works great with the OTS standard Buddy Phone transceivers (such as the XT-100, MKII-BUD, MTS-BUD, SCU-BUD, RX-100, etc.), the SSB-2001B-2, the SP-100, and the Magnacom MAG-1001S, MAG-1003D, MAG-1004HS, and MAG-1003-PSfas well as any other single sideband transceiver within range and on the same frequency. The Com Box can be powered by an external power source 12 VDC at minimum 5 amps. The battery life (10% duty cycle) on 16 AA alkaline is 20 hours and 12 hours with gel-cells. The unit measures 14" x 6.5" x 10.6" (35.6cm x 16.5cm x 27cm), weighs 12 lbs. (5.44 kg), and comes with an owner's manual.
