I love to travel to Europe multiple times a year (pre-pandemic, obviously) but am a CARRY ON ONLY sort of gal. I bought this after my first time lugging wheeled luggage around Italy - no thank you, never again. I've used it on several trips, the longest being 11 days in Greece in the winter, and it's spectacular! It's held up very well over the years and I have seen no fraying or other issues. It fits my packing cubes perfectly (I have the ebags small/med 4 piece set) and it's exactly the right size for a couple weeks away without having to do laundry. I've managed to sneak it through as a carry on when everyone else had to check their carryons, so bonus there. It's relatively comfortable to carry and the number of pockets are good. I love that you can zip up the straps into a compartment for the plane - no tangling involved. If I could change one thing, it would be nice to be able to add a daypack to it, but you cannot. It's definitely not a dealbreaker though. I plan to use it for years to come!

I own a Porter 46 and a wheeled Ozone 36,both in black. They're both great bags, but not quite perfect. I would buy the Fairview in a heartbeat IF it had these two things: laptop sleeve next to the straps/next to my back, instead of out in front; and a black option in this women's model. PLEASE redesign this bag so the laptop compartment is along the backpanel like in the Porter, and make it in black! THANKS

So, to begin with, in all my years of travel I have never gone without a suitcase. My daughter and I went to French Polynesia and wanted to pack a minimum amount for a change. I reviewed many and even odered a different brand but whe this pack arrived, I was sold. I am 5'2" 130 and this pack fit me like a glove. Because of past back surgery, I tried to keep it at around 20 lbs. After packing everything, I had plenty of spaces left unused just because of the weight factor. This pack was very comfortable. The waist support felt like it was made for me and I felt like a turtle with my little house on back. It was easy to carry on and also on return when we check bags in, it was nice to hide the straps and zip it up. Such a cool pack and I made the perfect choice. I'll be looking at another Osprey for day hikes.

I bought this pack to carry on both car trips and air travel. I like that it opens like a suit case and I can fit a lot in it. I do not like how unbalanced this pack is when loaded. All weight seems to sit at the top. I also have trouble adjusting this pack to carry very far.

I recently returned from a mission trip to Haiti and used this backpack as one of my bags for the trip. I'm so glad, I made this purchase. I was surprised at large holding capacity of this backpack, but appreciated it's compartment sizing. I also loved how there are adjustable compression straps in the large inside compartment and outside of this backpack that allows you to adjust the sizing and take full advantage of the space. The top front zipper pocket is also very deep and accommodates small compact items for easy access. In addition there a inside compartments that allow for organization and secure storage for up to a 15" inch laptop. One of the greatest benefits of this backpack is the frame and back support. The design of this backpack prevents weight or added pressure to your lower back and spine while wearing it. I have a petite frame being under 5'0" feet tall and the XS/S worked perfect to accommodate my torso length. I was able to carry this backpack through ATL's Hartfield-Jackson's large airport and up the rocky, hilly terrains in Haiti without suffering any back pain or discomfort. I'm looking forward to many more uses and functions of this backpack for many years to come.

I travel what you might call "incessantly", and I've been hunting for a travel pack that can keep up with me for ages. I'm also pretty tall (5'11"), and every other pack I've tried on has sat a little weird on me. The fact that this is super adjustable makes a huge difference. It's already been on a 3 week trip all over Europe, and it's coming on a 3.5-month lap of the globe here soon. The fact that it unzips all the way makes a huge difference, and the fact that the straps can be zipped away is fantastic if (god forbid) you're forced to check your bag. I highly recommend this one.

My husband has the 40 Farpoint and LOVES it. When we were planning a weekend trip to DC last month, I purchased the 40 Fairview (women's version) for the trip. We walked a LOT with the packs, and I just couldn't take the discomfort after a few miles. For some reason this women's version felt very top heavy, painfully pulled back on my shoulder/collar bones and just didn't sit right on my lower torso. Hubby and I switched packs, and I had no problem his and he also was disappointed with mine. Traded it it for a Farpoint and LOVE it. Maybe my short torso isn't lining up,(I'm 5'2", about 110 lbs) and I don't need the shoulder strap style adjustments on the women's version, so I'm down with the men's version and have fell in love. The packing capacity was great, I struggled with the kickstand (top heavy and kept falling over on the front) the green/teal color is beautiful (more options for the Farpoint???) the quality and durability felt awesome...just wasn't the right fit for my body. I really wanted to love this pack....but fell in love with a hot red Farpoint instead.

My wife and I were searching packs to begin our traveling adventures of a minimalistic carry-on lifestyle. This pack has not disappointed. The dimensions online, do not do justice to how much space this bag can actually hold - and if utilizing compression bags, it makes this pack even better. The ability of adjustment to a women's body is outstanding. A lot of thoughtful consideration went into this pack. As a bonus, I went to a third party outdoor store to take a look at the backup, up close, prior to my purchase - I noticed the pack only came in "small/medium" - I definitely needed something bigger to make the waist strap more comfortable. I called the Osprey customer service line, and even prior to purchasing the bag, they stated the would be able to send me an "extender" to make the waist buckle more comfortable. Even though the bag should itself, the ONE UP in customer service pushed me over the edge to not make my purchase that day - and directly purchase off of their website. Highly highly recommend.

I just spent 2 months backpacking Europe and this backpack held my entire life all through 12 different countries. It was comfortable when I got the straps adjusted correctly, fit in the compartments that it needed to, and I was able to stuff it full to fit so much more than I thought I would be able to. It has great compartmentalizing pockets and the straps on the outside are handy too. I was impressed by how well this backpack held up through the rough situations it was in. Highly recommend this backpack.

I just returned from three weeks in South America, using this pack as my primary luggage. The other pack was a small Osprey ultra light for only my purse type things and daily outings. Fully packed the Fairview 40 weighed 18 pounds and was the perfect carryon for every plane trip taken and one of those was on a very small plane with strict weight restrictions. I could not have asked for a better travel companion than the Osprey Fairview 40 and four packing cubes. I was always organized, always ready and could handle the pack on my back, with a shoulder strap or using the handles. The Osprey was even complimented by a guide. Great pack for any kind of travel!

A friend bought this for me as a gift. I'm a 15 year high school student and I am a size XS weighing under 110 pounds. My school books weigh about 17 pounds and my back was really hurting. My brother knew that a hipbelt and chest strap would better distribute the weight of my books. So we chose the Fairview 40 based on the amount of stuff I had and all of the pockets/accessibility. It was an excellent choice. I think my back will thank me in the years to come. The gray is more like Olive Green but it is a good color. I would recommend this backpack for students who want to take care of their spines.

I just coming back from a family trip to the Riviera Maya, I had the Fairview 40, and my husband had the Farpoint 40 It was a charm to carry, and didn't had any trouble to fit them into the overhead bin on the plane. We didn't had any issue with the airline (Air Transat) about the carry-on size restrictions as well. The packs were comfortable with 22 lbs of cargo and goods. We packed for a week long trip into an all-inclusive resort, and we managed to pack with minimalism in mind. Didn't bring too mutch things, and was able to bring back some mayan gifts and souvenirs. Also, I could clip my farpoint 55 day pack turtled up with my Fairview, so I could be hand-free when check-in and boarding the plane. So far, these are the best travel luggages we ever had, and we're very pleased with our purchases.

After packing a GR2 as a 5'1 female for two weeks in Europe, the Fairview 40 xs/s is leagues above for my needs. The pack is lightweight, plenty of zippered pockets/storage, narrower for the shoulders/torso, and the pack sits a tad higher on your back than typical packs. The hip/waist belt helps distribute the weight and there's no interference in the front from any of the straps on the female chest. I could easily pack 2+ weeks out of this pack, and still not use up all the space offered. I do not carry a laptop for travel, but the laptop sleeve is located towards the middle of the bag. The bag fully opens and everything is easily accessible. The misty grey is a neutral olive/grey and beautifully done with teal interior.
