Excellent and Practical
I purchased this item for fly fishing float trips as local regulations require life jackets for the fall - spring to be worn. These offer a great alternative to bulkier PFDs and allow me to better control the boat and the sport to fish more freely. Protect yourself while Stand-Up-Paddling (SUP) or surfing with the NRS Big Kahuna Inflatable Personal Floatation Device (PFD). Stores around the waist and out of the way until you need it. This PFD is certified by the U.S. Coast Guard as a Type V PFD. However, it meets Coast Guard requirements for Type III PFDs when it is worn. In other words, you have to have the pouch secured around your waist for it to qualify as a required flotation device. It is only approved for use by persons 16 years of age or older.
The Big Kahuna PFD inflates instantly with the simple pull of a cord and provides 29lbs (13.15kg) of flotation in the event of an emergency. Adjustable rip stop nylon waist pack stays out of your way for SUP or surfing and two adjustable webbing tethers keep the inflated PFD from floating away. A zippered pocket on the waist bag holds sunscreen, snacks and other small essentials. The bag's clear window lets you check the inflator mechanism for readiness. NRS even attached a Nexus nautical safety whistle to help you signal for help. A manual mouth valve backs up the CO2-powered inflator. The PFD includes a 33g CO2 cartridge (for spare re-arming kit see SKU: NRSKAK). The bright yellow vest is made from a durable polyester fabric. The PFD weighs 30oz (850.5g), fits adults weighing more than 80lbs (36,3kg) with chest size range of 30" to 52" (76cm to 132cm).
