JOHN R : Is this stainless steel?CATHERINE C : Yes, it is stainless steel. The clip is brass. Both don't rust. I still recommend rinsing both clip and stick after any dive, particularly the clip since salt or other deposits will affect the spring action of the clipM M : I thinks so. Taken into Salt water with no rust nor corrosion.ELIJAH K : I believe it is stainless steel. I’ve had mine for a few years now. Dove with it multiple times, and remains rust-free. I rinse with tap water, dry it, and keep it indoors after every dive.HOWARD C : yesJOHN S : Yes; we used them 4 years ago, and no rust on them now.CHRISTINE O : Yes, the set I received was stainless steel.DENNIS D : Yes. All three pieces are solid stainless steel.RUDOLPH H : Apparently. No rust to date. Unsure of specific alloy.
TAMMY C : Any chance the snap clip can slide off the ring portion? In the picture of the product there appears to be a large gap between the end of the ring and the straight rod portion. The ring doesn't appear to be touching the straight portion.CATHERINE C : I never had that problem with the clip slipping off the ring since the clip is larger than the gap in the ring end of the rod. You can tighten it with pliers if necessary. The only problem I did have was that end of the ring getting caught in my mesh bags. I now store them in one of my lycra dive socks until ready to useJEANETTE D : The rattle is extremely annoying to fellow diversCHUCK P : I've had these for several years and not had any problems. The picture looks a little misleading, but you can always close the loop up a little with a vice. Probably done 40+ dives in the Red Sea and Bahamas w them. The short one isn't too handy and I'd recommend replacing it with a reef hook for those high current dives.JEANETTE D : I added a lanyard to keep on my wristJOHN S : The gap is big enough to cause problems, I used a vise to tighten it up. We also used lanyards to attach it to our wrists while using them and they are even smaller in diameter. Attaching the lanyards to the snap ring worked. When not using them, we tucked them into our skins, up our wrists. They worked well and we didn't lose any in two weeks of diving around Komodo. JohnANDREW B : In the set I received the gap was too small for a clamp to slip off. I dove with it in a pretty strong current and there were no issues.TONY K : No. Snap clip does not come offf. In case ring gaps bigger you can use a plier or hanmer to close the gap back.LES S : The illustration is not accurate. The ring is sufficiently closed to prevent the clip from sliding off. We have two sets of these and have used them for several years from Florida to Indonesia, with no problems.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?KIM(DWCHOI) H : GOODNANCY G : Plan to do some drift diving.SYLVIA W. S : Need it.CHRISTINE W : It's always nice to have a reef stick when the current gets strong, and we're near a sandy bottom. I can anchor myself in while my dive buddy takes pictures. I never use to disturb reefs and/or fish though.

Good for the money.

Highseas Reef Stick Set 9" (22.9 cm) and 16" (40.6 cm) They're o.k. They hold you but it depends on the current too. Mine has a slight bend from some strong currents. They do make stronger (thicker) one but you' pay more. My wife lost hers and she wants a different type. I'm fine with mine.

Reef Sticks.

9" is adequate for most situations. Must now cut 16" down to 9-10", a now manageable length.

handy

I love my reef stick. While diving in a current, I was able to use it to keep me stable and off the reef while taking videos. It also doubled as a "tank banger" when I wanted to get the attention of my divebuddy. It's light weight and easy to pack when traveling.

Reliable Tool

There are a few things that make these sticks really work. First, the right length. I just returned from muck diving in Indonesia and the longer stick did the job without being so long as to be inconvenient. Secondly, the rounded eye is comfortable to hold and easy to clip on. Thirdly, I attached a wrist strap. The gap in the eye was a little too large, but that was easily remedied by closing it in a vise. Overall, very functional at a reasonable price.

Very Useful !

Great for pointing out things and very handy for staying in place when diving in a current if used with care to avoid damage.

Protect the reefs

Have found the short reef stick to be very useful on drift dives to slow forward motion when necessary without having to grab something that really shouldn't be touched. Just stick it in the sand and hang on.

Best for the Money

I have used about a half dozen other reef sticks. These are the best. They are sturdy enough, but not too heavy. They are pretty strong---I have had others that bend very easily in the current. These are really nice. I love the two sizes--one for steadiness on the reef and the other for the muck. I bought about 3 more.

Good product

It's nice to have the sticks for reef positioning and pointing out small things. Came quickly as advertised.

Perfect protection for reefs, great sizes for diving!

When I purchased these, it was for the sole intention of underwater photography and to steady my camera on the reef if needed. I've already done around 25 dives with these and they have actually come in much handier than I even anticipated. I take one on every dive. I use a drysuit and if I even slightly start toward anything because of a current or swell, I push off the reef with one of these sticks instead of a hand or fingers. I've been able to move kelp strands and see small ocean life without harming any living creatures. Now I don't dive without one of these!!!

Used properly, these are a great help.

Great to use as a photo steady, not just to poke around.

This thing reduces air consumption!

When used responsibly, this is great for sand and rock anchoring. Used the 9" stick which is more than adequate for stabilizing and station-keeping during 24 Cozumel dives in light to ripping currents. Gave the larger 16" stick to a grateful dive master there. Robust stainless steel stick and snap clip. The short stick was clicked to my UK SL4 light strap, both of which fit handily in my BC pocket. It is reassuring to have this as an option to reef ducking or finning.

Reef Sticks.

9" is adequate for most situations. Must now cut 16" down to 9-10", a now manageable length.

Have you ever found yourself over a reef while fining and experience surge that causes you to damage the reef? Reef Sticks are commonly used by divers to control their buoyancy over the reef. The reef stick is there to keep the diver off the reef. These reef sticks are made of corrosion resistant stainless-steel rod. Included with the set are one small 9" (22.9cm), one large 16" (40.6cm) and a stainless steel small double end snap. The top end of the Reef Sticks has a loop for attachment to the double ended snap. Snap easily attaches to BCD accessory D-Ring for quick access. Reef Sticks are made in the USA.
