Questions & Answers

KAI L : How do I remove the Leonardo computer from the console housing if I want to wear the Leonardo on my wrist?Theo K : Dear Kai, this is not too difficult if you have basic technical knowledge. First you need to unscrew the back of the computer. Take out the Leonardo and attached a wrist strap to the unit which is sold separately. There is also a separate housing for only the pressure gauge (SPG only) if you prefer that as your setup.KENNETH C : There are two hex key machine screws that hold the computer in the console. after removing the screws the computer puck can be removed for battery maintenance etc. I do not know if the console housing will mate with a wrist strap.
LI-AN Y : Is the gauge in bar or psi?Theo K : Gauge is in PSI Annie. Enjoy your new Console. (Great computer, check the reviews! :-)KENNETH C : They are available in both. You can order either Imperial (psi) or metric (bar). On my order, I ordered psi and received metric even though the outer packaging was marked imperial.. I had a terrible time getting the correct gauges since the outer packaging was mismarked and they reshipped the same consoles to me that I had just returned. That being said Leisure Pro eventually made good on the order and I received the correct gauges.
TROY F : I already have this computer. Can I purchase the just the console with the pressure gauge and compass? If so, please let me know where.Christopher D : We have a number of gauges featuring just a pressure gauge and compass. I'll include a selection below.
Shopper : Battery replacement. Where can instructions be located and which tools are needed to replace the battery for this console?JOHN L : Good question. I'm in Belize diving right now and my friends computer needs a battery change. Instructions don't help. Best bet is looking it up on you tube . From what I can tell, it's a CR2430 3Volt battery. They sell kits forcitcat leisure pro and amazon. Sorry I'm not more help.William B : You can go online to see or download the Leonardo owners manual. The battery is very easy to replace without any special tools. I did need two Allen wrenches to remove the computer from the console. I downloaded the manual to my I pad which I take with even on trips. I take a spare battery and the two Allen wrenches in my scuba gear bag.
Shopper : Just to clarify - this is the Leonardo Console 3, yes?LYN H : When I looked on the Cressi website, the difference between the #2 and #3 is the number of dials. I purchased the 3 dial model with the compass and computer in front and SPG gauge on the back. A link in this Q&A section shows complete photos. FYI, while I haven't used mine in a dive yet, I like it so much already that I ordered another for my husband. The online class has been very helpful in getting us up to speed. Hope this info is helpful for you.

Great starter computer for the price

I'm pretty happy with this computer, it's priced fair, and does a good job, only downside I found was the backlight was not as bright as I expected, I also feel like they could have incorporated more tech into device, little things can make it stand out better if they did so 4/5 not perfect

Broken before use

Broken screen after 2 years. I can hear it turning on and beeping but no screen output. Seems to be a common them with this computer. Not even sure there was a single dive on it yet. As the saying goes. But once cry once. Avoid these cheap computers from cressi. Get a shearwater.

No External Connectivity for Modern Devices

No Bluetooth or connectivity for phone or computer. Yes, there is a $70 accessory available but its only compatible with 5-6 year old software. Seems like a decent computer, but the lack of any sort of connectivity outside of itself is surprising and disappointing. Returning it to get a more modern computer that can actually let me see the data.

Works great

It?s great for the price but don?t expect a good back lite. It?s dim and basically nonexistent. Maybe you can see it if it?s totally dark

Unsatisfied

Bought one a couple of years ago. The Leonardo. It stopped working properly, it would beep but nothing appeared on screen. Paid to get it fixed, apparently it's a factory reset. Now it doesn't work again 5 months later. Very very annoyed, it's not good enough.

Great gauge for the price!

As expected and then some! Really liked the large, easy to read display and the security and safety of having the air on a gauge as opposed to all digital. If the battery suddenly goes dead on a dive you at least know how much air you have left.

Great Cressi Dive Computer

The Cressi Leonardo dive computer works great! I personally enjoy having it on the regulator set up than my wrist because it feels more free. It starts up and turns off when it needs to and the information is easy to read even in murky water. I highly recommend this for most scuba divers.

Great computer for general rec diving!

Great computer as a novice diver. Easy to navigate menus and information screens. Only two dives so far, but seems really accurate. I compared the depth to my analog depth gauge and it was never more than 2 feet off, probably due to the sampling time (20 seconds). My surface interval was the same as or within a minute of the other computers present. Overall this computer will serve me great for years to come with only battery changes required. Only downfall I can see for some users would be the connectivity to a computer requires an extra purchase of a docking station, another $80.

Good starter computer

This is a great computer for beginner divers. It's easy to read and understand. It has one button to scroll through the modes which is easy enough to do and makes it simple when diving. It's a bit too large for my female arm so I will be giving it to my husband. I had it as tight as the strap would go and it was still a little large. It worked just fine on our recent dives. The safety stop countdown is in minutes and doesn't show seconds which is okay, you just need to be aware.

About Cressi Leonardo

FEATURED REVIEWS

Great value and very easy to use.

By Joe

I am a beginning diver at age 55. After getting my Open Water certification, I decided a computer was going to be my first purchase. I already had a good mask with corrective lenses and snorkel. I researched online, and found reviews and recommendations for the Leonardo rating it a Best Buy and good for beginners. Also, Cressi was noted for being on the conservative side, and as an older beginner I wanted a conservative device, and the single button and large readout was very appealing. I...

Excellent computer

By Scuba S.

Excellent computer for the price!! A great computer for the beginner and advanced diver. Air and Nitrox with a "Gauge" mode. I have tried several dive computers and kept coming back to the Leonardo every time. Easy to operate and even easier after using the class that is included with the computer purchase. The display is very easy to read because of the large numbers. It may not be a big deal, but I like the fact that you can turn off the computer between dives. It still keeps up with the d...

Leonardo Computer Console

Modular, rugged computer.

It is a completely modular, rugged computer with a wide UFDS display, which provides the proverbial ease of navigation and Cressi computer menus. It has complete Nitrox management, depth gauge mode, and a reset option.

Leonardo Computer Console

User-Friendly Display System

The algorithm incorporates RGBM and Deep Stop. Menus and navigation system identical to the rest of the Cressi diving computers, with ease of reading, access to information and model parameter modification. Easy configuration, navigation through the various menus and access to a large amount of information displayed intuitively.

Leonardo Computer Console

The Cressi Leonardo Computer Console with Compass is an elegant expression of a simple and functional design, the Leonardo is a must have for divers entering the sport and those who just want to dive. A single button interface makes it effortless to program air, nitrox and gauge modes. Leonardo has a large edge to edge, high-definition LCD screen that gives large numerical displays in a computer that is still compact and travel friendly. The Leonardo's easy to see battery life icon indicator and its distinct audible alarms deliver critical information as well as peace of mind during the dive.

The Leonardo features a new Cressi RGBM Algorithm, created in conjunction with the expertise of Bruce Wienke and based on the Haldane model, integrated with RGBM factors. This Algorithm allows for safe decompression calculations for multiple dives spread out over multiple days. The Leonardo computer by Cressi is a multifunctional instrument for sport diving It will supply any wanted information on depth, dive times, decompression status, ascent rate and surface interval times between dives. Nitrogen absorption and release is continuously processed by its sophisticated software, considering the quantity of inert gases in the different mixtures which can be used. Such information is displayed on the instrument's large display, thanks to the PCD (Priority Compartment Digit Display) system, allowing an easy and direct dialogue between the diver and the computer, ensuring a clear understanding of all the data needed at any given time and a perfect readability in any situation. The computer is provided with clock and calendar, a versatile dive memory (logbook), as well as a dive simulator. The mathematical model of Leonardo can make saturation and de-saturation computations of dives carried out both with air and with nitrox, whose parameters can all be set: from the maximum allowed PO2 value between 17.4 and 23.2 psi (1.2 bar and 1.6 bar), to the mixture's oxygen percentage (FO2) between 21% and 50% of O2. Additionally, the instrument may be set by the user for either imperial (feet) or metric (meters) system. The Leonardo can also be fully re-set after each use, making it an excellent choice for rental departments.

The Cressi Leonardo Dive Computer has an operational depth from 0 to 393' (0 to 120m), is powered by a user replaceable CR2430 3-volt battery and is equipped with a 60 dive (70 hour), logbook memory function. The clock function can be set in a 12/24-hour formats. The computer is also altitude adjustable up to 12,139' (3,700m) and has a back-light feature for low light conditions. The computer comes with a comprehensive owner's manual.

The console is equipped with a submersible pressure gauge. The gauge has a luminescent dial that has readout from 0 to 5,000 psi. The instruments face is divided into three different Colored Zones: the area from 600 psi and below is highlighted in red with a solid bar and red stripes. If gauge is used on deeper dives, the red scale extends and fades to 1,300 psi. This provides for added reserve air indication required at greater depths. From 600 to approximately 3,000 psi is green and from 3,000 psi to end of scale is blue. The front glass lens is made to act as a pressure relief valve. In the event of a sudden increase in pressure inside the instrument, the glass rises slightly, allowing the excess pressure to escape. Pressure gauge comes with a 7/16" high-pressure hose.

Many divers take compasses for granted, considering them just an accessory to their overall gear set-up. Tryin to navigate with a poorly designed or improperly functioning compass can be one of diving's more frustrating events. The Cressi Compass is an oil filled compass, robust and accurate for underwater navigation that ensures accuracy and durability for a long time. The Cressi Compass is a dual-purpose compass. The convenient side window allows quick reference of Large, easy-to-read bearing indicators on a luminescent display for gun sight accuracy. Or, for divers who prefer relative navigation, the ratchet bezel can be rotated easily even with thick neoprene gloves. The luminous dial of the compass is designed with a half black / half luminous graphic to make quick work of compass direction, especially in din light.

The compass bezel has Compass Headings in 30-degree Numbered increments and indicator marks for every 10-degrees. Bezel has twin heading indicators for alignment of compass course and a lubber line across the compass face. Compass case is manufactured from a scratch resistance polycarbonate for strength and durability. The instruments are housed in a small, modern shaped console boot, made from Polycarbonate and Desmopan, (a thermoplastic polyurethane) two materials that guarantee protection from shocks, scratches and which, at the same time, is very light. The entire 3-guage console is encapsulated in a durable impact resistant console boot with multiple attachment points for clips or lanyards.
