About Apeks XTX40 DS4 Regulator - Din
The XTX40 regulator is versatile, with a Reversible Venturi System (RVS) that allows for a quick and easy switch between right-handed and left-handed hose configurations, performed by any authorized Apeks technician.
Featuring the Diver Changeable Exhausts (DCE) system, the XTX40 regulator allows users to switch between a small exhaust tee for a compact regulator (ideal as an octopus) and a large exhaust tee to minimize bubble interference, which is crucial for underwater photography.
Built for durability, the XTX40 regulator has a two-shot high-strength plastic front cover to protect the demand valve's most vulnerable part. The redesigned ergonomic Venturi lever minimizes grit ingress, while the optional swivel hose connection (at an extra cost) provides a more comfortable fit by allowing the demand valve end to rotate and pivot.
The XTX40 regulator uses a new silicone exhaust valve, improving breathing performance. With a low Work of Breathing (WOB) of 0.85 Joules per Liter, this regulator ensures divers expend minimal energy to maintain airflow.
The first stage features a swivel turret body, 4 medium pressure ports (4 x 3/8" UNF), 1 high pressure port (1 x 7/16" UNF), environmentally dry sealed system, polished chrome finish, and superior balanced performance. The second stage offers an integrated venturi control, pneumatically balanced valve design, cold water suitability, bright chrome finish, right or left-hand hose configuration, changeable exhaust tees (DCE), and an optional extra hose swivel connection.

- First Stage:
- DS4 first stage.Unique over-balanced, diaphragm design - as the diver descends, the over-balancing feature allows the medium pressure gas in the hose to increase at a rate faster than ambient. This results in superior performance at depth.
- 1 HP port and 4 MP ports are angled for optimum hose routing.
- An environmental dry system keeps water out of the main spring chamber thus preventing ice buildup and keeping silt and contamination out.

- Second Stage:
- Pneumatically-balanced second stage results in smooth, easy breathing.
- The XTX purge buttons are large and easy to operate. A 2-stage progressive purgeis used - press the purge on the side for a lower flow rate, useful where more control is required such as filling lift bags etc, then press in the centre for the full effect of the purge, i.e. when regulator clearing etc.
- The large venturi lever has a soft touch rubber grip, which makes it easier to locate and use. The lever reduces the amount of grit ingress and therefore resists any possible friction giving a smooth operation.
- Easy-to-grip opening effort control knob keeps the diver in control.
- The second stage is manufactured with active protection against infection as allmolded parts are produced with an additive that kills MRSA, protects against E-Coli, bacteria and fungi, and is also very effective against viruses, mould, yeast and algae.
- A silicone exhaust valve improves the breathing performance of the regulator.
- The Comfo-bite? mouthpiece virtually eliminates jaw-fatigue.
- A heat exchanger (patented) which surrounds the valve mechanism, dissipates the cold caused by gas expansion while drawing in the warmth of the ambient water.
