Questions & Answers

Shopper : Will the oral inflation valve accept an LP inflator hose?GREGORY B : Yes, it will.BRENT B : Yes they will, I just took my gear out and tried it.
Shopper : Are the weights removable or adjustable? Do I carry 4 lbs less weight in my bcd?MIKE W : There are no weights attached to this item. Additionally, from a safety point of view. Never adjust your weights for something else you may have with you, camera etc. If you have to drop or accidentally drop that item you will have lost control of your buoyancy.TOM K : Yes, the weight is removable. The only time I would use weights with the 50 pound float that I bought would be on a drift dive, if I was tethered to it. I bought mine basically to allow the attending boat to locate me quickly post-dive, especially in high seas. The weight is not necessary, if you're not tethered to the float and are using the float simply for locating you after a dive. Once on the surface find a means to hold the first couple feet of the float underwater so the rest will rise vertically into the air. If you're SCUBA diving, I see no reason why you couldn't substitute the 4# is lead in your BC, or on your belt, with the lead in the float. However, it may be difficult to orally inflate with the weight attached, and you definitely don't want to inadvertently drop it before inflating if you already have it weighted. PAUL K : In saltwater in added two pounds; but nothing in freshwater. It is visible from a long distance.MICHAEL C : The weights merely attach to the lift bag. You ca adjust the weight to make the lift bag stand up right. You will need to carry your normal weight in the BCD or risk not having enough weight to stay down during your safety stop unless you normally dive heavy. I usually carry the extra weight and just hang on the line during my safety stop which causes the float to stand up right.TERRY C : I think you're confused. The float has no weights When you['re on the surface, you can hang weights on the loop on the bottom of the float to make it stand upright, however this has nothing to do with how much wight you put on your weight-belt.CHIP E : ????? It's a lift bag, there are no weights.ALLEN M : There are no weights with this personal float. It's an inflatable tube. 1) You blow it up on the surface and use it as a "flag" to signal the boat your location so they can see you if you have drifted far away in current or tall seas. 2) Inflate it on the surface and use it for #1 and also to keep you afloat if you are lost from the boat or your BC has a leak this can keep you afloat. Make SURE you test and use this- it can be filled from the bottom using a regulator, or it has a mouth inflate. You MUST be familiar using since in an emergency you have to know how to deploy. Deflated it will fit in a BC pocket and not affect your buoyancy.
Shopper : Hi, Do you have the 35LB Carter Personal Float in Red or Orange?LeisurePro S : Sorry, we only have this float in yellow at this time.
Shopper : What is the un-inflated size of the float ? Fit in a BC pocket ? Is it inflatable with the octo at depth ?...thx MikeLeisurePro S : This item comes in 3 sizes, all of them relatively large, e.g. they will not fit in a BC pocket. They are inflatable by an octo at depth.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?CHRISTOPHER M : Made in USA. Good reviews.JIM C : Use Carter SMB already. This new one is a backup. Nothing but the best!ALLEN M : Is a real safety sausage. Long enough to be seen far away and stands up in high wind. Very well built and made in USA

About Carter Personal Float 10' (50 Lift) Item# 30759

The Carter Personal Float may be the single most important piece of underwater equipment you ever own. The optional, detachable 12 x 12" (30.5 x 30.5cm) dive flags on both sides of the float's top makes it highly visible from a considerable distance. Also, a 2" (5cm) wide reflective strip makes the floats highly visible at night. The one-way oral inflation valve allows the diver to tightly inflate the float at the surface, while a one-way flapper valve allows air into the bottom of the float. The over-pressure/dump valve vents excess air as the personal float ascends to the surface and the handle at the top of the float can be used as an attachment point for a light.

The float is constructed out of a very durable 400-Denier polyurethane coated nylon material. A hook and loop strip at the bottom of the bag holds the float in a tight roll when it is not in use. Adding a 4 lbs (1.82kg) weight makes the personal float remain vertical in the water (weight not included). Personal floats are available in different buoyancies: 35, 50, and 75 lbs (15.9, 22.7, or 34kg) of lift. The 35 lbs (15.9kg) lift float measures (L x Dia.) 72 x 4" (182.9 x 10.2 cm), 50 lbs (22.7kg) lift float measures 120 x 4" (304.8 x 10.2cm) and the 75 lbs (34kg) Lift Float measures 90 x 5" (228.6 x 12.7cm).
