I carried this little cutter for several years in my BC and then, later, free diving. It is fine for cutting monofilament fishing line. There is a lot of that on our local reef because there is a fishing pier nearby. The black plastic sheath holds the yellow sheath well enough but I did not take enough care to secure it to my equipment and it was lost on the bottom. I hope someone found it.

As a cutting device this is really well designed. Big enough finger holes, long enough cutting surface. However the sheath needs work. The cutter snaps in, but rather loosely. I tethered the cutter to the sheath with a thin bungie cord. If the cord gets in your way you can cut it. The mounting tab on the back of the sheath will go over 2 inch webbing, but it is not stiff enough, it won't hold securely. I attached a polyethylene plate to the sheath, which I then securely attach to my BC. Otherwise carry this cutter in a pocket.

The tool is great. But the case doesn’t hold it securely enough. I’ve had dive buddies pick it up about a half dozen times after it came out of the case. If you buy it I’d throw away the case and put a lanyard on it.

During a recent beach clean up I managed to get tangled up in fishing line trying to pull up some fishing poles. Cutter was very easy to use to free myself. Worked great. It stays in the sheath no problem. My only complaint would be that the clip that attaches the sheath to the BC could be a little sturdier.

This is a very good cutter but the clip and the way to attach it to your BCD is not the best. In fact, I lost mine after a few dives. Make sure that you put a little string to secure it properly and do not rely only on the plastic clip.

Gave it a 5 because the knife is well-designed and works as well as expected. Like another reviewer I found the case to be a little lacking. Just doesn't feel secure enough to attach it to my webbing (fairly easy to pull the knife out) - I have a zippered pouch on my BCD cumberbund that is a perfect spot for this along with my small signaling mirror. To each his own as far as attachment goes I guess, but I just feel better knowing it will be there if I ever need to reach for it. And in full discloser, this is my backup as I have a 4 inch fixed blade ScubaPro dive knife with locking sheath mounted with grommets to the outside of one of my BCD pockets

I purchased the Zeagle Line Knife for my Zeagle Ranger BCD. I put the knife on the shoulder strap. It didn't make it two oil rig dives and the knife was gone. I am not sure about how secure the clip was on the shoulder strap...so be careful on the placement. I liked the knife, used it once during the dive on some line. Worked well.

I'm old school and think all divers should have a knife with them at all times. A knife is an essential tool especially for line entanglement problems. A line cutter is the very minimum everybody should have. I've looked at most of the line cutters out and to me this is one of the best line cutters available. Compact, simple, lightweight, easy to use and sharp, every diver should have one of these.

Using it to replace the mini knife on that I had on my inflation hose. Fits nicely on my BC strap with absolutely no bulk. It has the right balance of staying secure and easy to deploy. The yellow is a great touch, easy to find with a quick glance down. My buddy and I both got one, we are very pleased with them.

best version of an essential tool

Line entanglement and line management require the proper tools, Zeagle Line Cutter with Sheath meets these requirements. This simple, efficient line cutting tool has a stainless-steel serrated blade and quick-release sheath. It easily mounts to your shoulder webbing in the location of your choice and can be mounted on a harness rig or BCD. Designed with the safety blade concept used on aviator and skydivers shroud cutters letting the sharp blade cut only what you want it to. Bright yellow plastic handle for visibility and is large enough to fit 2-gloved fingers.
