Just got this knife, leg straps and holder all look too be nice quality. Blade is pretty sharp. Will be diving in Florida fresh springs and Bahamas in few weeks so will report back on how it holds up and over time.

A Tanto Tip blade has a heavy and sharp tip. Sharp enough for puncturing and thick enough for prying.....They are a great choice, unless you will be around inflatable boats.
If you are going to be around inflatable boats you should carry a blunt tip knife.

Tanto tips are built for puncturing vs. a drop point which is better at smooth slicing along the length of the blade.

Tanto point is very versitale in that it's a very strong point, ideal for opening and stabbing hard surfaces/materials.

The tanto blade is very strong sharp blade. They used to advertise them punching through doors, but you probably dont need that function. It will just be very duarable. If you think you are going to do a lot of prying then its not the blade for you. Maybe a blunt tip.

it's not as likely to break off when you use it to pry on things, great knife other than the carbon steel screws holding the sheath together..........

A tantos slightly blunted angle offers a bit of safety and versatility. Even my non diving knife has a tanto style blade that I have come to prefer.

Is this knife easy to release quickly from its sheath in emergency underwater situations?

this knife has a locking system which when "on" locks the knife in place. with the lock "off" you can very easily remove the knife. there is enough static pressure when the lock is "off" to hold the knife into the sheath.

As far as I know it is very easy to release the safety on this knife and the release can be pressed even when wearing gloves. Although dexterity may be a challenge, this knife makes it so that it is not a problem. Definitely recommend it!

What size stainless steel screws do I need to replace the metal screws that will rust in saltwater? To small for Ace Hardware or simular. Maybe a hobby store? Would like to replace those screws before the knife hits the water.

Not sure what the size is, but I am pretty sure that copper state nut and bolt would carry them. Try copperstate dot com and see if they can help.

What screws? There aren't any on this knife. Handle is molded onto the blade tang and you use straps or ties to mount the sheaf. You would have to drill holes to use screws to mount this knife to your BCD or something else (I think my only suggested improvement on this knife).
Otherwise, I have had this knife for a couple of years and 100 dives and not a spec of rust.
