i would like to use this on the Rover 2. Is the tightening ring metal instead of plastic? looks like it would be hard to turn with cold hands.

I've installed this on my Mares reg and I've had no issues with it. It is all metal, aside the o-ring. I've never had any issues using it in the cold.

The DIN connector wheel is made of metal, correct. I am diving in moderately cold water (avg. 53°F) and never had any trouble removing or tightening the wheel when my hands were cold. I just recently bought a new regulator with DIN connector that has a plastic wheel, and I must say I much prefer the metal wheel on the Mares kit because it feels much sturdier.

it turns quite well due to the large diameter and the knurling, I haven't
had any trouble making it secure.

I have used this for years and never had a problem! It's easy to turn and robust. I use this in my deco bottle. Now I live in Florida so never thought about turning it with cold hands, well maybe in the winter. enjoy!

I use this on a Mares Azimuth rebreather. The tightening ring is knurled steel. I have used this during an ice dive with no issues in turning the ring. Becuae of the "tight configuration" of the Azimuth regulators, a larger plastic ring would not fit. Hope this helps.

The ring is metal. I use 2 MR12's and haven't had any problems tightnening or loosening. I would advise caution about the o-ring. Sometimes it has tendencies of coming out.
