DG O2 computer

By ReefRider

Although I havent made a dive with this comp yet, I bought it because of its similarity to the Aeris/Oceanic line. The manuals of all three are virtually identical for operation. The Hollis has some of the meters in defferent places but still operate the same. Priced a good hundred bucks below its nearest relative, the DG O2 is well worth the money considering it does everything the XR2 does, but with only 1 button operation. In having 1 button, it makes it easy to use as long as you can ...

Great Computer

By Waterboy

Great Computer with many features. I have a few dozen dives on this computer from 40fsw to 135fsw using Nitrox and/or Air and it works flawlessly. Although not recommended, will get you out of a Deco situation safely. Like the audible alarms which are just loud enough to hear. Simple and easy to use. Would buy again.

DG02 can be used in two modes: Digital Depth Gauge/Bottom Timer or Air/Nitrox. The Computer uses the Hollis Buhlmann ZHL-16c based Pelagic Z+ algorithm with no decompression limits closely follow PADI RDP, Decompression in agreement with Buhlmann ZHL-16c and French MN90, No Decompression Deep Stops - Morroni, Bennett, Decompression Stops (not recommended) - Blatteau, Gerth, Gutvik, Altitude - Buhlmann, IANTD, RDP (Cross), and Altitude corrections and O2 limits based on NOAA tables. It's convenient, small size is perfect for the minimalist diver but despite its compact wrist size dimensions, it is still incredibly easy to read. Computer has a maximum operating depth of 400' (120 meters), has on/off audible alarms with flashing LED, backlight display for low light and night diving conditions.

When activated on the surface with a push of a button the computer with display in surface mode activation/diagnostic, serial number, surface, time to fly, time to desaturation, plan, log and reset (clear). In dive mode the computer displays no decompression dive, deep stop, safety stop, decompression, violation (conditional, delayed, & gauge), high PO2 and high O2. The numerical displays of the computer are dive number, depth, maximum depth, FO2 set points, PO2 value, dive time remaining, total ascent time, decompression stop time, deep stop time, safety stop time, elapsed dive time, surface time, log surface intervals, time to fly, time to desaturation and temperature.

The computer is powered by a user replaceable 3 volt CR2450 lithium battery. The Hollis Gear DG02 can be button or water activated, is automatically altitude adjustable with operational from sea level to 14,000' (4,270 meters) elevation. Computer has a 24 on-board dive log function with a 999 minute history capability and with the addition of the download cable and software (optional) can download your dive data to a PC. Computer can be set for a 12 or 24 hour time format, month date and year and will provide units of measure in imperial or metric formats. The wrist computer comes with an owner's manual.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

George C  I mistakenly enabled DS @ 50 feet, no bar graph afterwards, lockout ?
BARBARA J D  You were locked out by enabling this mode? That should not have happened. I'd suggest calling the manufacturer (Hollis in San Leandro CA, tech support). The software on the Hollis computers is annoying;way too much information. But you should not get locked out unless you violate deco.
George C  Thank you for you response Barbara.
MIKE G  Typically missing a deep stop will not cause most dive computers to lockout unless the stop was required as part of a deco-plan. This would be similar to missing the safety stop at the end of the dive. The computer is going to scream at you but won't lock out if you ignore it. I would consult the manual for the issue but you can turn the deep stop off by going through the settings on the watch. It should cycle past the deep stop option if you hold the button down on the dive computer.
Charles R  how wide is the face?
MIKE G  1 3/4 " of clear plastic face and about 2 1/2" total width from edge to edge left to right.
CHARLES F  The outside case is roughly 2-1/2 in. & the face its self is roughly 1-3/4 inches. I love mine. Hope this helps you.
THOMAS R  Face is close to 2" across / the numbers and symbols are extremely easy to read. This is a great computer, second one I've owned. I keep an extra one with me as a backup or to loan to anyone that has computer issues. Algorithms (especially with nitrox) are very close to my Aeris.
Shopper  I have a DG02. Need to change the battery. I got the door latch off, (per instructions) can't get the battery cover off. How do get the bovver loose? Doug
JOE S  This cover is a pressure plate to seal the battery compartment against the o-ring. Take something flat like a flat pick (not pointy) or a tiny flathead screwdriver to pry it up. You will hear the suction release slightly. I recommend a battery kit so you can change the o-ring. Without that, flooding may happen.
George C  You have to open the clear cover VERY VERY carefully. It is sealed pretty good, Then add some silicone to the O ring. Replace the battery then holding down the clear cover place the black cover and twist to lock it in place. Be sure not to pinch the O ring or it will leak and kill your computer.
Shopper  How many gases can you load on this computer?
MIKE G  Just one. Per the manual and my experience you can only program one gas at a time. This is NOT a multi-gas computer.
JOE S  It's a one gas computer that can do a nitrox mix or regular air. It uses the Hollis Z+ algorithm and works great as a gauge or bottom timer.
JOHN M  It is only capable of a single gas. It can be used for either air or Nitrox. It can also be used in computer or gauge mode.
Shopper  is there manual in the box?
VARDA O  Hi. Yes there is a small CD manual
Steve S  Yes. This does come with an operating manual.
DAVID S  The manual is on a CD that is in the box.
RANDAL S  I don't recall a manual in the box..however I accessed the manual on line before I bought the dive computer and stored it for access anytime I wanted
THOMAS C  with the product I recieved, there was a computer disk with all the information on it. For convenience, I printed out a copy, which read fine.
CHARLES F  No. Manual is on cd form.
RICHARD P  There is not a paper manual. The manual is a digital copy on a small disk.
MARU S  Yes, the users manual comes in the box.
MARILYN M  yes on a disc
STEPHEN S  Yes, but I found pdf manual online easier to read.
E N  A users manual was included in disc format.
ALEXANDER M  Yes, of course. This is a quality piece.
JOHN M  there is a manual but it is in CD form.
ADAM C  It has a mini cd that contains your owners manuals. You can also download them from Hollis' website.
MICHAEL N  Manual is available on line.
