Great fins. Lots of power for so flexible of a fin. A few kicks and you're down to 30ft. Comfortable foot pocket except it is a little narrow. I wouldn't recommend for a wide foot. Accomodates 5mm neoprene sock with the same size you would wear for your shoes.
Perfect first pair of freediving fins

I've been spearfishing for a year now, but been snorkeling/freediving for my entire life. I've always wanted long fins like this and I'm very happy with the Gara 3000LD fins.
They hold on to my foot really well. They make a huge difference over regular fins in thrust and make it much easier to move through the water with less effort. The LDs are especially great for beginners because they provide a good transition into long blade fins without beating up your legs too much. All around great ...fins.
I wear them with a 3mm finsock and I have a small issue with my foot/finsock combination being a little too wide for the footpocket... but that can easily be remedied by going half a size higher.
Gara 3000 Long Distance is Cressi's entry-level long blade fin designed with softer blades, which make the Gara 3000 LD a perfect choice for the beginning diver or those not familiar using long blade fins. The LD version originate from the greatlyappreciated Gara 3000 but the material of the blade is softer than the previous version, what makes them stand out. Thanks to the softer blade less muscle effort is required so divers can use them for longer, making them perfect to use many hours.
Long blade fins with softer blade for less muscle effort ideal for free diving.
The soft blade transfer power with minimum effort, make this fin very comfortable and easy on the legs for beginners or during long dives.
Cressi patented 3 material molding process for ensure flexibility in the foot area (U.S. patent n. US6179675).
Comfortable full foot pocket. Fins can be worn barefoot or using neoprene socks. The Gara 3000 fins are designed and manufactured in Italy by Cressi.

The fin is constructed with durability in mind and long soft plastic blades that can effectively transfer power with minimum effort, which make this fin very comfortable and easy on the legs for the beginner or during long duration dives. Thanks to the softer blade less muscle effort is required for kicking so divers can use them for longer, making them perfect to use many hours in a row.
The Gara 3000 LD is an extremely comfortable and is a full foot pocket style fin. This fin is also constructed using Cressi's unique three material molding process where different compounds are bonded together to provide flexibility in the foot area and while being able to deliver power thru the blade due to the stiffness that the multi compound molding process can provide. Can comfortably be worn with or without neoprene socks.
The serious spear fishermen know the value of a good fin. The Gara 3000 LD is designed identically to the legendary Gara 3000, what makes them stand out from the original, the material of the blade, is softer. The LD in the 3000 LD stands for long distance, indicating the main use of the product. These fins have emerged from the need to offer enthusiasts increasingly powerful fins, with less demand than the Gara 3000 Fins.
Less muscle effort is required for kicking, so divers can use them for longer periods of time, without worry of leg fatigue. The softer blade is very suitable for use in cold water. Cold water is notorious for stiffening fin materials and makes them less flexible. The Gara 3000 LD is an excellent choice for the experienced free divers. Its unique performance characteristics feature a more flexible, lightweight design with a custom fitting foot pocket. The Gara 3000 LD is also suitable for the entry level diver, allowing the diver to develop the stamina and later using a stiffer blade fin once they develop their leg muscles. The Fin has a long soft plastic blade and a soft elastomer foot pocket that anatomically wraps around the foot, surrounding it with a comfortable bite that guarantees perfect transmission of the leg fin thrust. Fins are durably constructed and designed to take abuse. Fins are available in multiple sizes.

I have interest on the Cressi Gara 3000LD, I'm an 11 to 11.5 foot size. The point is that Cressi have the Gara as a 9-10 or 44-45, next is 11-12 or 46-47. My foot is wide. my question is, should I go with 11-12, what you suggest?

They also size taking in consideration users have 3mm neoprene socks and tend to run big... i beliee 11-12 should be the ticket... but nothing like trying it to know for sure...

Is this fin good for scuba diving? Or is it Better to upgrade to carbon? Thanks you! Morten

I bought these to practice free-diving, doing long breath-holds across a big pool. They’re very nice, BUT... Because they are so very long I would definitely NOT recommend them for SCUBA. They’re not practical for that, in my opinion.

Hi, I am no expert on these fins, but I found them too stiff for my taste. I bought them to get more power for free diving, but I could barely bend them. And I am 6’1” 200 lbs in good shape. I am a scuba diver as well, and would never dream of using these for scuba. To me, scuba is all about staying relaxed, and these fins are too much work!

I would like to wear these fins without a sock. I have a pair of Mare fins that are size 11-12 and I need to wear a 2mm sock. What size should I order in these ? I usually wear a size 11.5-12 shoe thx
Mike T
Hi Free D,
I would select size 12-13 46-47.

I don't know what you mean with "sock" . I assume you mean neoprene booties. Personally, I have been diving for over 45 years and I have two pairs of these fins. I wear a pair of socks like the ones the airlines provide for free in business class. They also supply them for use in hospitals. they are synthetic and relatively thin, will not keep your feet warm but provide just enough slip to make the fins comfortable and easy to put on and take off. They dry fast and when the diving is over I just throw them away. I also have a 11 to 11.5 shoe and the 11-12 size fin fits fine.

I used to not wear a sock but now I do, for security of fit...my sense is they've stretched out some. Depending on how long you want to keep them, I'd err on the side of smaller, which may be tight at first but would anticipate the change.

I bought these fins (11-12) and because they fit snug, a sock or any sort was not required. I have worn them often and have never developed a blister or been uncomfortable.

Hi all,
I love the 3000 LD because of the softer blade and I intend to buy this pair, but my 2 friends who have used the 3000 LD made me confusing. They refers the Pro LD rather than this pair, and said their Cressi Gara 3000 LD me cracked while diving a few So can I anyone here let me kow how durable of the 3000 LD pair is?
Appriciate any comments!
Mike T
Hi Jovi,
First the Gara Professional LD are completely different fins. http://www.leisurepro.com/p-csbfgpl/cressi-gara-professional-ld-fins
The main difference is the the Pro LD features Cressi's patented foot pocket beneath the blade design. Mounting the foot pocket beneath the blade increases the working surface area of the blade while more evenly distributing the load across your whole foot.
Both Gara 3000 and Professional use the same blade material.
As for durability, the quality of these fins is second to none.

i have had my pair for years now without a problem. had to buy another pair only because i lost one on a night dive. hope this helps

Over three years of use and normal wear for me. Besides the bullkeness in storage these are great fins!

I dove off jetties for two years before they became my backups because I got more responsive fiberglass fins. They took a massive beating and still held up. I let all my friends who want to try freediving use them too and they still are around 5 years later
