Rating: Great snorkel bag!
Reviewer: Alahna A.
This is the 5th on of these Ive bought over the last 10 years- each bag for someone different as a gift. All of the bags, even the 10 year old ones are in great shape (good rinsing after use in salt water, and occasional lubrication of the zippers helps keep them that way). Theyve had some rough care, and regular use, but all of the bags are still looking great, no rips, tears, stress marks- anything! An excellent bag- especially when you have to hike in to your snorkeling or diving adventure.

I love this backpack. Surprisingly I was able to pack my mask, fins, booties, Snorkle, and wetsuit. Comfortable backpack straps. Very sturdy. Nice color. Felt the price was very fair too. Thank you!

Rating: great to hold gear

Bought 2 of these for my wife and I on our recent trip to the carribean. Let me just say these were fantastic to have. When I told my wife I wanted to purchase these she told me to not order her one. I did anyways and when we were on the trip she kept thanking me for getting her one too. Plenty of room for extras in the bag. Held our long fins, mask, snorkel, towel, camera, water shoes, extra clothes, and still had room for more stuff. Very well constructed and held up to salt water with no issues. A steal at 30 bucks!

Rating: best bag, best deal for 1 set of fins & accessories
Reviewer: Chrisfopher m.
This is my second purchase of this bag, the last one lasted 6+ years, getting used and wet twice a week as an underwater hockey bag. There is no other bag I could find anywhere near this price point. On top of that, every single pocket, hook, and strap is ideally placed and useful, and the whole bag is lightweight. The only downside is that the zippers eventually rust (hopefully future models will be made of strong plastic or rust-resistant metal), hence the need to replace my old bag.

My husband and I each bought a bag for our snorkel gear, and used them every day on our last trip to Mexico. They were perfect, and we managed to find just the right way to carry the fins, mask, (water shoes, and sunglasses for after), and even a towel strapped under the crisscross part on the front. The straps make it a comfortable bag to carry, and after a week of abuse, they seem no worse for wear. We are both very happy with the purchase, and the price.

Rating: awesome Snorkel gear bag
Reviewer: renee s.
Just got back from 2 weeks in Belize. After 14 dives with this bag carrying our mask, fins, etc. I am very happy with my purchase. This is a great bag that really fits two sets of snorkel gear plus a towel, extra clothing, go pro, etc. The backpack straps make it easy to carry to and from the dive boat, also came in handy when biking 20 miles rt from one end of Ambergris Caye to the other, to then throw in a kayak and go for a snorkel. Great storage pockets and very roomy main pocket. Only complaint would be that the zippers started to freeze up after the first day on the boat. Make sure to rinse daily, put some silicon on the zippers and it should last a good long time.

Nice heavy weight material- not flimsey, great workmanship, perfect size, heavy duty zippers, easy access, visibility thru mesh, great for use as a boat bag, very very pleased!!! Great product at a surprisingly good price. Would be great if they made a travel bag in this quality that would fit my bc, wet suit and this backpack.

  • Bob:

I currently have a Gatorpac, unfortunately the zippers on the outer pocket have disintegrated. I purchased a new one from another source and found it to be too small! So is this bag really 30"?

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

The dimensions listed are directly from the information the manufacturers give dealers. They state this bag to have a length of 30" but that does not necessarily mean it will hold a 30" pair of fins. The internal dimension could be slightly less.

  • Liz:

What is the weight of this pack? Thanks.

Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

    About 1 pound.

  • Reg:

Hello. I purchased the Scuba mask backpack bag (BG-333) last year and after a couple trips the zipper corroded even with rinsing. does sub gear backpack bag (853.329.014) or scuba max (BG-334) have nylon zippers to withstand the salt water

Elliott  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

The SubGear Mask, Fin & Snorkel Beach Backpack Bag (http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-76/018892/SubGear-Mask--Fin---Snorkel-Beach-Backpack-Bag.html) and Akona Mask, Fin and Snorkel Backpack Bag (http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-76/018021/Akona-Mask--Fin-and-Snorkel-Backpack-Bag.html) do not use metal zippers.

  • Robin:

    Are the zippers metal?

Kevin  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Yes, this bag uses metal zippers.

  • karen:

can you use fins with closed backs in this bag?

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

    Yes.

  • Steve:

Will this bag fit the Mares Volo open heel fins?

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Steve, yes the Volo Adj. Fins will fit into this bag.

  • marge:

If I order this bag Jan. 22, what will be delivery date w/free shipping? I need to be sure to have it by Feb. 1

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Marge, going out standard it could take up to two weeks but it usually only take 7-10 day s from one coast to the other.

  • John:

Can this bag be used as a carry-on bag on US domestic airlines? Has any owners ever had an issue boarding with it? Thanks

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello John, yes you would be able to take this on the plane as a carry-on. YOu would just need to make sure you put it in the overhead section. This would not fit under the seat.

  • Phil:

One of the reviews indicates you can store and carry two sets of snorkel gear plus towels. Id like to confirm.

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Phil, depends on the size of the fins but this bag is designed to carry one set of fins.

  • Karen:

Since the bag is designed for open heal fins as we have, where are your booties to go with this bag. I have read mention of other stuff, but didnt see mention of whether there is space for booties.

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

The bag is only designed for mask, fins and snorkels. I typically put the booties inside the foot pocket of the fin and fold the tops over, if using a high top boot.

  • pat:

what is the zipper made of? my last bag the zipper corroded fro the salt water

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

    It is made of plastic.

Designed small, compact and convenient the bag measures in at 74cm x 25cm x 18cm of a heavy duty 1200 Denier nylon.
