Rating: Shockwave LED, great light.

I purchased this light knowing full well the spotty reviews it has received on the switch. I thought I would take a chance on it as the price was right. Upon receiving the light I was impressed with the quality. The first dive with the light was in very poor visibility (5-10 at times) and depth of 80. This light worked like a charm. To be honest, I dont know what the fuss is about the switch. Once I became familiar with its operation, there were no issues. It works great. I have about six dives with the light now (including a night dive) and no issues. I recommend this light.

Out of the box, 2 night dives in Roatan, Honduras. Mainly used the low light setting which was plenty of night light and gives you extended battery life. Only minor complaint is on/off/lowbeam/hi-beam switch worked hard and required two hands adjustment. I couldnt just click between the beams with one hand on the light. Ditched a 4-D cell light in favor of this one with 4 C cells and LED light. Clearly an improvement in weight, ease of handling, and underwater light. She wants to replace her old style 4 D cell primary diving light as well, and were going to order another one of these for her. Good piece of equipment !

Took it out for a try after receiving it. Worked well, light was bright, not as heavy as I expected it to be.Would have liked the switch to be a little easier to use but not a big issue. Seems to be a good product for the price.

Rating: Princeton Tec Shockwave LED Dive Light
Reviewer: Barbara T.,
Although expensive it is really well made and the color makes it easy to see even in poor visibility waters. Wrist strap is good size - not too big and not too small. Light has good power and it is not too heavy or bulky. Good purchase.

Rating: Turn " Night to Light"
Reviewer: william hanson,
I am very satisfied with this light. Why did I get it? My light was an oceanic ocean pro. 25 years old, 6 volt battery, and just wore out. I was optimistic that such a compact light could deliver so many lumens, be so compact and work as described in the literature, delivered to my door in less than a week, with batteries included, free shipping.
AND IT WORKED AT A 115 FOOT depth on two boat dives on the same day........... Love it, Bill

Princeton Tec Shockwave is a bright though somewhat heavy (with 8 C cells) light that really lights up overhangs and reef walls. I would recommend it for anyone not concerned about the extra bulk and weight

Rating: Excellent Light
Reviewer: Michael Tuvim,
Excellent strong and pure white (!) light.
The beam is broad. One could possibly call it not tightly focused. Personally, I consider it a plus for a night dive: it allows you to see more in a broader field of view rather then focus on an illuminated point in the sea of blackness.

The Princeton Tec Shockwave LED light is by far the best underwater light I have ever owned. Its penetration on a night dive is far superior to ordinary lights. A bit heavy with the 8 batteries but the hand hold is sufficient to balance the light. Great light!!!

Rating: Lumens for price amazing!
Reviewer: Raymond Y.,
Some divers go crazy for the most expensive products out there assuming they must be the best. This light is a rare exception that you get what you pay for. For the money, this light blows away HID and canister lights 3 to 4 times its cost. Princeton is also amazing to work with on warranty claims, had another light earlier from them that leaked, sent it in and they sent me a brand new one, no questions asked! This new 400 lumen model is outstanding for $100.

Princeton Tec Shockwave L.E.D. Light
Some companies just can’t help themselves when it comes to improving on a good thing. I’ve owned a Princeton Tech Shockwave since they first hit the stores some years ago. I was at the time replacing an older 8 D-Cell light with a lantern grip that had given years of good service but felt like I was underwater with a 55 gallon drum with handle on it. Heavy, cumbersome and a battery eating monster! We won’t even discuss bulb life. It was always a good idea to carry a spare, and it soon became obvious what to expect when you discovered that internally it had a space to store the extra one!
When I first came across the shockwave I was impressed by not only it’s weight, feeling like a feather compared to my old faithful monster light, but how wonderfully balanced it was in my hands. The batteries lasted a little longer and the spare bulb was still something handy go keep around. Alas, after many great years of service it finally works no more. So I went looking into lights and I was completely expecting the same wonderful degree of improvement all around. Maybe a light the size of a cell phone that will light up the entire ocean! To my dismay I found what appeared to be my trusty old Shockwave was still state of the art. That feeling of disappointment was soon erased when I gave a closer look. The light now uses 3 LED bulbs that have a life expectancy greater than most of us will ever spend underwater, let alone doing night dives. The battery consumption on LED bulbs is so low that it offers anywhere from 12 – 20 hours of good strong burn time. The trigger is still conveniently located to be easy to use, with a very secure trigger lock to keep from using your batteries up by accident.
But it is underwater where this light really “shines” (pardon the pun). LED lights don’t compare with the Xenon or Halogen counterparts when comparing lights over the counter. But under water LED light penetrates differently and gives not only a much better reach with the beam of light, but you also get a truer color! The difference is pretty remarkable! The Sealife you come across looks bright and brilliant, and the vibrant colors of a once dull looking reef can make you think it’s the first time you’ve visited your old favorite dive spot! If all remains the same, it looks like it’s going to be some years before I am back looking for the next new improvement in dive lights.
