Rating: Great Camera
Reviewer: Diana Lopez,
Recently we bought the camera for a diving trip to Grand Turk and Key West. After practicing in the pool we had wonderful results. Not only did we have great stills with great color but also fantastic video.
Always remember when you think you are close enough, get closer to get great color.
We purchased the extended life battery and were happy we did.

Rating: Sealife DC1200 12.0 megapixel underwater camera elite kit w/ digital pro flash
Reviewer: Michael Turso, - View all my reviews
This camera package is awesome, the folks at Sealife realy got it right! I wanted to add a strobe & wide angle lens to my old camera (a cannon & ikelite housing). When I added up the price for the strobe & lens it got me thinking why spend all that money for addons for a "old" camera when for a little more I could up grade everything.
With all the features the Sealife DC 1200 has it was a no brainer! Theres four different underwater modes and twelve different above water modes. You can set everything manualy or let the camera do it all for you. You can even leave a voice memo to go with a pic. There are nine color filters to choose from, for your artistic side. The strobe is also fully adjustable too. The DC 1200 can do so many things internaly that you used to need software to do on a computer, like super imposing somone into a photo.
Im amazed at this set up, and I think you get alot of bang for your buck. It is very easy to navagate the menus even underwater. The big "piano keys" make it easy even with 5mm gloves on. The large LCD display on the back is sharp & clear. Its compact enough to fit into my computer bag for traveling. And you dont grease the O rings so that mess is eliminated.
Overall I highly recommend the DC1200 Elite package to anyone who has asked me about it. I liked so much that I bought the video light too. Now my vids turn out as nice as my pics! I do think adding the 13oz weight to the bottom does help the buoyancy and makes handling effortless.

Rating: Good Camera System
Reviewer: Vincent B., - View all my reviews
i bought this system at the beginning of june 2011.i practiced with it in my pool to get used to the menus and controls. i recommend this, if you can, so that you really get the feel for it. first offthis camera takes great land pictures even with the housing on so dont worry about that. we went to atlantis in the bahamas last week and took this camera on all the slides and the beach, on jet skis, in and out of the pools and it performed like a champ whether taking photos or video. very rugged. i called sealife a few times before my trip to get a few things ironed out and i must say they were very helpful. for use underwater there are several things i would like to touch on. get the extra weight & long screw to keep your bouyancy neutral or you will float up. also get a good lanyard and the extra long life battery. when in capture mode (taking pics) just set it to external flash mode auto and your set. whether or not your pictures come out good is basically on you. the camera works as advertised but your photo skills and bouyancy control will make the difference. the dive and snorkel modes are for taking pictures without the pro flash. the cameras internal flash does not fire on these settings. instead the camera automatically adds the missing reds to correct the color. when you are at depth in these settings you will know which setting is correct by the screen appearing normal. if it still looks red than you are set too deep. this is where people make are making mistakes. when in video mode all you have to do is set the white balance manually so that the screen is not red. you cannot do this topside. you can only do this in the water at depth in those particular conditions. i shot 47 mins of video at stuart cove shark dive with the long life battery and had enough left to watch it on the camera afterwards. we were in 45 feet of water for the shark feeding but my camera white balance was set to blue water 0-8 meters. i set the focus to infinity, sat back and watched the show. the visibility was excellent. it came out terrific. if you use this system as designed you will be very happy. the wide angle lens is a major plus too! i used it the whole time diving and only removed it when on land running around atlantis. and for the price i was laughing at people with housings that cost three times as much and my stuff was as good as theirs. just remember the basic of photos get close then get closer!

Rating: Would have to spend twice as much to do better
Reviewer: David S.,
Bought this about 8 months ago, it has been in the Bahamas with me for 2 weeks, the BVIs for three, and spent the last 3 months with me in Australia diving. I have taken some really amazing pictures. I have no prior experience in photography other than using a point and shoot occasionally, let alone any underwater experience. Takes some practice to figure some things out, especially for me getting a handle on the wide angle lens and the strobe. But in the end some really great, professional looking pictures. Build quality is good, case seems sturdy, I have had no leaks at all. Contacted customer service with minor questions, they got back to me quickly. I would definitely recommend this camera to a friend.

Rating: Excellent camera at excellent value
Reviewer: David K.,
I was set to buy a used DC1000 until I saw the new DC1200 was to be released. I received camera just a week prior to going diving in Caribbean. The piano keys are a true innovation, making it very easy to use and adjust underwater. I also love the ability to flip back and forth between still and video with a single button - as an amateur, I think I got better video than still photos. Rechargeable batteries in flash only lasted one dive, so get an extra set of rechargeable batteries. The camera battery easily supported two dives, but the camera battery takes awhile to recharge with the charger provided, so I recommend getting an extra battery if youll be using the camera for extended periods.

Rating: SeaLife dc1200 Elite Package
Reviewer: Cynthia Wallace,
The camera takes wonderful pictures and videos underwater. Love it...I had one problem with the flash arm staying on the base. I contacted SeaLife and their Technical department not only contact me immediately, they sent me a replacement arm, told me how to fix it and sent me a free battery for my inconvenience. I have never had such a wonderful response from a manufacturer. The camera is my second SeaLife camera and my 4th underwater camera. It is one of the best working camera I have had. It is easy to learn to use and the settings are easy to get to and change as needed. If you want a great underwater camera at an affordable price. This is the one!

Rating: A Great Camera for the money
Reviewer: Randall L.,
I purchased this camera after my 35MM flooded. I read the book and then took it out on a recent dive trip - the pictures were great. It took me one dive to get the basics down and then, I took hundreds of really good photos.
The one downside is that the manual doesnt provide much information beyond the auto settings. I spoke with a professional photographer that was familiar with this model and she stated that there was a world of options that could be leveraged for even better pictures. Ill have to poke around the internet to find this use.
