Rating: Great Camera for Beginners

this is my first underwater camera & sealife has made it easy. the large piano keys make it easy the change settings even underwater (for when, like me, you forget to change from the land settings). the "easy set up" option is just that. you just have to answer the questions, are you on land or underwater? snorkeling or diving? are you using a flash?. the built in filters for diving and the big keys allowed me to take pictures on par with more experienced underwater photographers

Rating: Great Camera
Reviewer: Laura A., Wednesday, November 30, 2011
Bought this to replace an Epoque camera for a trip to BVI. Although the housing seemed less substantial than the Epoque we used the camera twice a day for 10 days with fabulous results. The moisture munchers did the job eliminating condensation ( there is a spot built into the housing for the munchers- each lasted 3 days) and the high pixels gave us great shots that we were able to enlarge. Underwater setting helped keep colors true ( just remember to return to regular setting if using out of water or the photo will be orange/brown). Movies were a little disappointing, they seem to stutter when played back. Might improve if we had upgraded the stick to the 10. Wish that we had sprung for the flash! The camera is now headed to a marine biologist cavern diver for the real test.

could not be much easier to use. big buttons are easy to manipulate with gloves. camera has menu able settings for various underwater (and surface) conditions and lighting. covers all your recreational diving possibilities. the only feature i would like is to extend the auto off time to beyond 3 minutes. quite often i would take a picture, swim a bit, see another possibility, set up for the shot (e.g. angle/orient myself, position myself to compensate for current, wait for another diver to swim out of the shot) and by the time i was ready to shoot the camera had turned itself off. i know this conserves battery time but i would rather carry a spare battery and have the extended auto off time.

Took very good pictures with the LED video light for a non-SLR camera. I was not expecting great pics, but got several which I can print and frame. Probably had a 30% success on pictures. Kept hitting video mode button and not realizing. Camera turns off too quickly to conserve power.

Rating: Fantastic!
Reviewer: Darlene O., Wednesday, November 02, 2011
We took this camera to St. Thomas and St. Maarten and thoroughly enjoyed taking pictures underwater. Some of the coral reef and fish pictures are amazing! Were glad we spent the extra money and bought a camera that worked perfectly and captured some of our best vacation memories.

Rating: Decent camera
Reviewer: Julia R., Tuesday, August 30, 2011
The camera has a long delay so you have to make sure you hold the camera steady so your pictures arent blurry. This is difficult to do if you are in any kind of current. Im sure this will improve with practice. Otherwise, it is really easy to use.

I love this camera. I had no problems and it took great pictures. The battery life was much longer than the last camera. Overall easy to use and piano keys are just a great feature especially with dive gloves on.

Rating: Never got a chance
Reviewer: Nancy H., Wednesday, June 22, 2011
Well, Id like to say this camera took good pictures. I was able to get a few as I experimented with settings. However, not sure why, but this camera flooded on my second dive. I thought I was certain the seal was in correctly but Im not really sure why it happened. Really kind of made me sick. The pictures I did get with it seems pretty good.

Rating: Camera functions very well.

I purchased the DC1200 in March 2011 for a trip to Bonaire. Acknowledging a learning curve, it took very acceptable pictures with the integral flash. However, the camera really needs an external strobe which I will purchase before another trip in August.

Rating: Good Basic Camera
Reviewer: Douglas C., Saturday, January 22, 2011
After several dives and a chance to try out this camera, it meets all my expectations for one in this price range. Easy to use underwater with large buttons and pre-programed exposure settings and good quality optics for snap and shoot and video. Only drawback was inability to zoom in or out during video taking and as usual with all cameras the need for optional flash attachments to get really good photos at depth. Audio recording during video is a nice touch also.
