My wife an I are goin to Cozumel an taking a three day diving course and want to buy a shorty or full dive suit that will be comfortable and effective for what we are doing
Hello Shaun, congratz on taking the open water scuba class. If you are looking for a lightweight dive skin for your trip I would suggest to you the Henderson 17oz Superior Polyolefin Dive Skin Jumpsuit web link: http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-44/010629/Henderson-17oz-Superior-Polyolefin-Dive-Skin-Jumpsuit.html. The lycra skin you are asking about will not give you any type of warmth protection from the water. The one I am suggesting to you does have the sun protection and will also give you about 2mm of warmth. If you have any other questions or would like to place an order please feel free to give us a call at 1.800.347.2822.
I am very interested in buying a wet suit to keep me warm in a small lake ,so I can get in water early in may so it keeps me warm also want to order some scuba diving items....I want a light weight5xl wet suit to start w/so it keeps me warm looking to spend under 200.00 to start
Hi! Will this suit keep me warm while snorkeling in La Paz this December? The water temperature is supposed to be between 65-75 degrees.
what size would I need if I am 55 and weight between 185-190
Hello Gail, first off when you are sizing a wetsuit/dive skin the two most important measurements will be your chest/bust and waist. Then height will be a secondary measurement and weight you throw out the window. Weight has nothing to do with the sizing of a wetsuit. If you have any other questions or would like to place an order please feel free to give us a call at 1.800.347.2822.
I am going to the Galapagos Island in August. Looking at the Henderson Lycra Dive Skin Jumpsuit. I have a Promate now. I am approximately 56 weight 160. Looking at the chart, I see a Large would be the size. Is this correct?
Hello Re, Thank you for your inquiry! I have checked the sizing chart and based on the information you have provided, I am recommending the Medium Henderson Lycra Dive Skin Jumpsuit per the Sizing Chart. http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-44/010599/Henderson-Lycra-Dive-Skin-Jumpsuit.html If you would like to place an order or have questions about our products, please contact one of our certified Dive Instructors at SCUBA.com by calling 800-247-2822 <> 949-221-9300 or e-mail us at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Q #1=In the q&a on the Henderson dive skin part#L807UF Renate asks what the material weight of this suit is ? as Renate uses an example that some dive skins are noted to be 6oz. Dive instructor Bill says this 17oz dive skin (about 2 mm) is also a 6oz weight material. That being said which would be the correct answer ? Is the Henderson 17oz not a thicker material than the 6oz ? Q #2 = I see you also sell a .5mm wetsuit and would like to know how much thicker , warmer etc. , would that suit be than the 6oz or 17 oz dive skin ? Look forward to hearing back from you so I know as Im thinking on purchasing a little heavier skin than the Bare 6oz I bought from scuba.com in 2012. Thank you. Norm
Hi Norm, Here is an answer to your first question: A 6oz weight material provides no warmth in the water it helps slide your suit on easier, protects from jelly fish stings and from UV sun rays. The 17 oz has all the same features as the 6oz. However, the 17oz gives you warmth comparable to the warmth of a 2mm suit (without adding buoyancy) typically these have a fuzzy inner lining and are much thicker than the 6oz. Here is an answer to your second question: The .5mm is about as thick as a t-shirt my guess for ounces would be something in the range to 10-13 ounces. The .5mm wetsuit provides warmth however you lose the feature of using it to slide on another suit. One of the big things I like about the 17oz suits is they help way more sliding on another suit with providing additional warmth and very easy to put on. One of the big things I like about the .5mm neoprene suits is that they dry way faster than the 17oz suits because the .5mm suits are made of neoprene. The 17oz suits are as easy as putting on the lycra suits with the same flexibility however with the .5mm to 1mm suits it requires little more effort to put on and a little less flexibility than the 17oz skin. At this point it’s more of your preference. If you are going to be doing multiple dives per day using it as your primary suit it would be nice to have a faster drying neoprene suit but if that’s not a consideration you would be very happy with the 17oz suit.
I am going on a three month and will be diving at the Great Barrier Reef and The Abel Tasman Park. Yeaa... I want to buy a Diving Skin and the Henderson Lyrica Dive Skin Jumpsuit seems like a great product an attractive price. I am concerned about buying the right size because I wont have time to return it and get another one if it doesnt fit. I weight 190 lbs. and I am 511" tall. What size should I order? Also, some of the reviews of other dive skins products might be uncomfortable and tight around the neck. Has anyone experienced this probnlem. Your feedback will be appreciated. Thanks Jim
I am interested in one of your diving suits. I weigh about 127, and am 5 ft. 6 in. tall. I will use it in the tropics of Ecuador, so what millimeter thickness do you recommend. Thanks.
Hello Joanna, the suit that I would suggest for you if you are looking for a little added warmth is the Henderson 17oz Superior Polyolefin Dive Skin Jumpsuit web link: http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-44/010629/Henderson-17oz-Superior-Polyolefin-Dive-Skin-Jumpsuit.html. If you are just looking for sun protection then this suit will work very well for you.
I am looking to buy a moderately priced but good snorkel that prevents water from entering from waves and there are a number of products out there from $15-40$. I am looking for a good product in the $20-30 $. Does anyone have any advise here? Thanks, Jim
Hello Jim, the snorkel I would suggest for you is the XS Scuba Sedona Dry Snorkel web link: http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-39/039128/XS-Scuba-Sedona-Dry-Snorkel.html.
Im wondering about the right size to buy. Im 57", weight: 165 lbs, chest: 40" and waist: 36". I guess these suits have to fit tight ? Thanks for any comments.
The waist and chest are the most important measurements for the fit with a suit. Height usually will work even if it is one to two inches short or tall. Weight will depend on the divers body build and is the last measurement to consider. As long as the item is not used in the water you have up to 60 days to refund or exchange it.
How thick is this and what is the "Lycra"? I have Henderson Lycra hood, that has a label showing the material is 90% neoprene and 10% spandex. Its extremely thin but works. Ive seen some light weigh dive skins (without the fuzzy stuff) that look similar. Is this the same material as my "Lycra" hood by Henderson?
I have a 5mm wetsuit looking for a dive skin for extra warmth, to go under my wet suit for cold water, which product do you suggest?
My son, age 14, 58" 130 lbs, waist about 30, always gets chilled after first dive. Thinking of getting him a skin for extra thermal layer. Having anything that would work for his size? Adult charts have him between a small and medium
i want to purchase this wetsuithowever, for the waist measurement should i measure the largest part of the waist (belly) or the actual waist. 2,- i would like to know if i can get a different color than full black - for example -blue suit with any color stripe, yellow suit with any color stripe, pink with any color stripe(for my wife), gloves in blue or any other color, 3,- are they 6 onz, 17 onz, .5 mm, etc. thanks
Typically I like to use the Levi's waist size as my sizing. The manufacturer's will advise not to use pant size, but I've found over the years that Levi's run pretty true in inches to the waist measurement scuba manufacturers use. I've yet to have it be wrong. For the colors, unfortunately the only thing we have to offer is a black base suit with the colored stripe. The stripe color can be yellow, Blue, Green, Pink or Purple.
Hi. I love to snorkel around boston during summer. My dive wet suit is flamboyant and hot in the warmer trampoline resurface were I spend most of the time snorkelling. The water is still cold and I need a skin type wet suit withhold can you help me with suggestions? Thanks
Hello Thomas, the suit you are asking about will not give you any type of thermal protection. If you are looking for a suit that will give you a little warmth then I would suggest the Henderson 17oz Superior Polyolefin Dive Skin Jumpsuit web link: http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-44/010629/Henderson-17oz-Superior-Polyolefin-Dive-Skin-Jumpsuit.html.
Does this suit protect you from jeely fish stings, and it doesnt state what mil it is.
Hello Randy, this is a 6oz lycra material. This would not protect you for jellyfish stings. You would need to look at the Henderson 17oz Superior Polyolefin Dive Skin Jumpsuit web link: http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-44/010629/Henderson-17oz-Superior-Polyolefin-Dive-Skin-Jumpsuit.html. That will get you the same thickness as a 2mm wetsuit.
Do you have suits for children, age 11?
Hello Judy, here is the link to all of the kids suits: http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-65/Kidz-Gear-Neoprene-and-Skins.html. When you are sizing a suit the two most important measurements are your chest and waist. Height is a secondary measurement and weight is the last measurement you take into account.
I am going to Fiji and just want a lightweight .5 mm skin for a little warmth as well as rash guard. Do not want or need a wetsuit. What do you advise?
I am going on a trip to Cancun in late September 2014. I will be snorkeling and wanted a suit that would keep me warm along with providing cover so that I dont get burned. What would you recommend? It looks like by weight I will need a 6X size suit.
Im looking at the dive skins and I know chest then waist then height ,if so would I not have a lot of extra material ? Using the size chart I need a 3xl chest and a lg waist but Im only 58" . What size do I buy?
I need a dive skin but I dont know what size to get. My wet suit is a XL. Im 56" an my 6pk has changed into a 44" keg. But my waste is 38" and Im short. Please let me know if I need a XL or 2X. Thanks
