Im not happy with a new snorkel that has a leaky purge valve. I took it to my favorite river where I like to hover over the native fish and observe them. Within 30 seconds of use in calm water....gurgle....gurgle. Not my idea of fun snorkeling.

i have actually purchased four of these snorkels now two for personal use and two as gifts. the genesis is a no nonsense, straight forward snorkel for beginners and experienced divers and snorkelers. it stays dry in choppy conditions and clears easily when re-surfacing. the purge works well to keep it dry and does not leak. this is one of the driest non-dry snorkels out there... i strongly recommend it!

The design doesnt look like it would work we in rough water but I havent tried that myself. I find the angle of the mouth piece a little uncomfortable and my biggest complaint is that when I clear it there is still water in the tube - no matter how forcefully I blow. Not much but enough to be really uncomfortable when you come up - out of air - clear - take a deep breath - and suck in a thimble of water.

i used my snorkel more for snorkeling than for diving it worked great. whenever a little water got in my snorkel, i was able to use the purge to clear it out easily. however, when large amounts of water got into the snorkel (e.g., after diving to get a better look at the fauna 6 below) i found myself resorting to the tried and true whale-spout method.

This a very nice snorkel. Just did a beach entry today. Had to wade across rocks. When we got to an area where it was deep enough, we swam on the surface another 100 yards through a moderate surge on snorkel to save air until the water was deep enough to actually dive. With the swell I kept expecting to get a mouth full of water... never happened. The shape of the top of the snorkel I think had a lot to do with that. I did get a little trickle once. A quick blow and it was gone. Purge valve in the bottom. Again... nice snorkel and worked well in less than ideal conditions.
