Rating: vest for snorkeling

Got this vest for snorkeling in Hawaii. It arrived promptly before my exit to warmer climes and it was easy to put on and off. Suited me and my adventure just fine. Seems to be well made and easy to blow up. I can recommend it without hesitation

Prior to a trip to the Bahamas, I bought 2 vests - 1 for my wife and 1 for myself. We already have our own snorkel gear. I am a strong swimmer and still like dive so I did not use my vest. However, my wife kept hers on whenever we were snorkeling. She loved it! With the added confidence we were able to stay in the water longer. I will hold onto the second vest

Reasonable price and fit/worked fine, but we looked like a SCUBA.COM billboard walking down the beach. I guess thats why they were inexpensive. The Logo could be smaller and still get noticed.

Excellent quality material, quick and easy to inflate/deflate, packs for travel and works well. Is well worth the money and piece of mind.

Rating: Not perfect, but a good vest for the money
Reviewer: Jerome P.,
a good basic snorkeling vest. provides plenty of buoyancy without bulkiness, enough to support a diver wearing a wetsuit and weight belt, and the crotch strap prevents the unit from riding up on your neck. the bright color certainly makes the diver more visible. my one complaint is that i found the inflation hose to be too long and inflexible to easily place in my mouth for inflating. cutting the hose to a shorter length and re-ing the inflation valve on the end of it fixed this problem however.

I recently ordered this vest (along with the Junior model for my daughter) for our Royal Caribbean cruise in March 2010. I used this vest for our three snorkeling excursions in Cozumel, Grand Caymens, and in Haiti. Its your basic snorkeling vest - what more can I say - its high quality, and works great. Scuba.com shipped it to me in the time frame as promised. Thanks!

I was unable to find these snorkle vests on my last trip to the Keys. These are great for the kids snorkling on the reef. They had to use their boat safty vest and were very uncomfortable. So glad to find them at a great price

All in all a good setup. Crotch strap can be irritating if not adjusted correctly. Could use a velcro piece on end of straps to keep them from dangling or getting in the way.

What are the measurements of the Junior size and the adult size? I am an adult, weighing 112 lbs, but very narrow shoulders & rib cage. I usually have to have a childs size vest.
Bob (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
:
Unfortunately we do not have the dimensions of the articles themselves. The biggest concern would be the lift capacity. The Jr. snorkel vest is not designed to float that much weight.
Thomas:

is a snorkel vest better for snorkeling with than a life jacket
Bob (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
:
The reason a snorkeling vest is more suitable for snorkeling is that when you don't want or need it, you can leave it deflated. It isn't so much designed to be a 100% of the time flotation device as more of an item that will allow you to remain on the surface and relax or rest but also allow the user the freedom to dive underwater if they choose.
greg:
how to put this on? any demo video?
Darrick (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
:
Hello Greg, you would put your head threw the opening in the vest. Then there is a waist strap and a crotch that you wear to keep the vest close to your chest. If you have any other questions please feel free to give us a call at 1.800.347.2822.
