Eliminating hose clutter, because you use the same hose to supply both the power inflator and your alternate air source, also known as safe-2nd or Octo
And the reviews are in: "No doubt about it. Atomic has raised the bar with the SS1, creating the first safe second that really could be compared to a high-performance primary. And the best news - it will fit on most any brand of BC, thanks to a unique adapter device." - Sport Diver magazine
"The SS1 breathes better than many primary use regulators and generated the best overall simulator performance among the integrated inflator/regs...and earned the highest ergonomic scores of all the units we tested" - Scubalab

This is a fantastic product. I was able to easily replace the BC inflator valve with this regulator in about 20 minutes ... would only take 5 if I wasnt going really slow to be careful. Works like a charm. Its not the most regulated air supply in the world, I did try it underwater and it breathed well but a bit overpowering, I wouldnt want to use it as my main regulator. But for a backup its perfect and one less hose to deal with. Easy to take off after every dive so I could bring it to my room with my other expensive gear.

Rating: Great octo
Reviewer: jon moss,
This is one of the best octos out there, bought myself and my son the ss1 and have used it in fresh and salt water and it performs great, from temps as low as 45. used it in panama at 80 ft just to test and use and it breathed as good as my primary. you cant go wrong with this.

Rating: Atomic SS1 Titanium Octo - Outstanding Reg
Reviewer: Donald Dutcher,
I bought this because I needed an alternate air source for my travel rig. What I liked most was the fact that the regulator was removeable and using attachments you can change it to a different BC without having to cut the bands off every time. Also that you can remove it for travel. I did 7 dives in the Caymans with this reg as my octo. At times during the dives, I intentionally switched over to it and it performed flowlessly. It breaths as good as the name brand regs I have used and it cleared easily, even at 105 feet. Although I have not yet tried it in cold water, I have no dought it will work fine.
BOTTOM LINE - this is the best alternate reg ive used. This is my first atomic purchase and I am very happy and impressed. I spent the extra on the titanium because of salt water use, but im sure the regular model is just as good.

Rating: Atomic Octo review
Reviewer: Wayne C.,
I purchased the atomic ss1 and have been very happy with its performance and durability. I was subject to a pretty violent wave thrashing in Maui Hawaii in September and most of the gear was sandblasted. Without cleaning I continued to dive with no problems. I would recommend this octo to anyone.

Rating: Good performing integrated octopus.
Reviewer: Stacy major,
Very easy breathing at depth, inflator takes getting used to because it is considerably faster than my old integrated octo but it very is tunable when you get used to the buttons resistance.

Questions and Answers for Atomic SS1 Octo:
eugenio:
Is the SS1 compatible with an aqualung Pro LT BC
do i have to change anything in order to fit the SS1 ?
Bob (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
:
The Atomic SS1 is compatible with all BC's except by Mares and TUSA models with the A.P.A. Active Purge Assist inflator system. The Seaquest/Aqualung BCD's require the purchase of an upgrade adapter that is available at the time of purchase.
Adam:
im super new to diving and i want good equipment. is this a good buy and what would be a good bc for this product. i looking to be as streamlined as possible. oh is this compatible with nitrox? what would be a good wrist mounted computer? any help would be much appreciated. thanks
Will the Atomic SSI work with the Scubapro Air 2 inflator?
Aaron (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
:
Hi Jeff The quick disconnect from a ScubaPro Air 2 can work with the Atomic SS1.
jeff:
I have a zeagle BC and several other BCs all with Air 2s. Since SP Air 2, Zeagle OCto and the Atomic SSI all work with the SP Air 2 inflator, which one is the best. I see you guys are having a sale on the Zeagle. BTW, can any of these work on an Oceanic Excursion BC? I have a SP Air 2 on an old Chute 2 but I was able to get a 1 inch hose replacement.
Darrick (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
:
Hello Jeff, I would go with the SS1. It comes with all the attachment you will need for all of your BCD's. The other versions do not come with the attachments for the different size corrugated hose that different manufacture use.
alexander:
Does the SSI come with the low pressure hose included?
Are there different hose lengths?
If so, what lengths are there?
Darrick (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
:
Hello Ahmed, yes the hose comes with the unit. Also it is a standard length hose 24". There are after market hoses you can get that would come in different lengths.

Zack:
I have a travel light cressi bcd. Which air 2 octo would be compatible with it? I am interested in the atomic air 2 octo mainly. Please advise. Thanks!!!
Darrick (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
:
Hello Zack, we currently do not have any power inflator/Octo all in one unit that will fit the Cressi-Sub travel light BCD.
