  • David:

Dear CIs, I am looking at masks with corrective lenses. Given the strengths,, I can not match my prescription exactly. For nearsightedness, is it better to go up in strength or down in strength (i.e., prescription -3.25 should choose -3.0 or -3.5)? Also, my left eye is almost normal (-0.25) so I was considering either no lens or, possibly, the bifocal as my prescription can include an optional +2 bifocal, although I dont bother with all of my glasses. Is there any reason why the "farsighted" positive gauge reader lens wouldnt work? Thanks in advance, David

with negative lenses you want to go up a strength.

  • bob:

What is the difference between crystal silicone and regular clear silicone? And difference between black and clear silicone?I have beuchat voyager mask w/prescription lens +3.75 right +4.75 left od. The mask was purchased in 1997 but lens are new but the mask is leaking. Will this Solar a mask work with my lens and if not can I return it if unused.I can send you my measurements and template of lens size if you need it.Thanks, bob

Hi Bob, Crystal silicone is a new silicone and is softer. When they say black it means the frame of the mask is black. Black silicone means the skirt is back not clear. Also your lens will not work with this mask.

  • chuck:

My son wears a -2.25 for glasses.....what should we choose for an optical lens? -2 or -3 ? How long does it take to process an order? Cheers

    Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

You would want to go up to a -2.5

  • Ralph:

    Are the corrective lenses installed

    Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hello Ralph, if you order this mask with the optical lens. We will install the lens for you so when you get your mask the optical lens will already be in the mask.

  • Darryl:

Can these mask be ordered as bifocals with corrections top and bottom?

    Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

    Unfortunately no.

  • Kim:

I have been searching for a good mask with positive reader lens (+2.5 left and +3.0 right). For this Scubapro Solara Mask, are the optical lens a stick-on type (which has this outwardly visible dividing lines)? I actually do not want it to be visible.

    Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

You can use either the stick on lenses or the replacement lenses. The lenses you find on our Masks with Optical Lenses pages are using replacement lenses. Even with that, you will see a defined and distinct "line" where you transition from clear lenses on the top to optics on the bottom.
