Rating: Ocean Quest 7mm titanium hood
Reviewer: Kenneth Reinstadler,
I recently decided to go back to the COLD California coast, and as such purchased a wet suit through Scuba.com. Along with the suit, I needed a hood. This hood was very reasonable in price, and I find it kept me very warm in the 52 degree water off San Pedro. The only recommendation is to cut a small diameter hole in the back/top of it to allow air to vent. The hood does not come with one, lime many others. Otherwise, great buy.

I am very pleased with this purchase! I wasnt sure if it would be enough warmth for where I was diving. I am use to 95-90 degree tropical water. I was getting this to dive in 45 degree water. This hood did the job very well! Very happy.

The 7/5mm hood was back-ordered after being purchase. Scuba notified me right a way and I switched to the 5/3mm hood. This hood had great stretch!

Bought the hood for my annual dive trip to the Channel Islands. Kept my head warm in 57 degree water. Comfortable and easy to use.

This hood is a quality product. My only concern is that it doesnt fit snout on the top if my husbands head. It has a cone head appearance. Hopefully it will keep him warm.

Hello - Im considering ordering the Ocean Quest 7/5mm Premium Titanium hood. Is cutting (w/scizzors or a knife) a small vent hole in the top ok? Other than the vent hole, whats the difference between this one and the XS Scuba 7/5 Pyrostretch Hood?
I need this for a cold water dive on 4/6.
Thanks!

We don't recommend cutting into your hood as it would void the warranty and may create a failure point in the neoprene. Also remember with just a hole in the hood, now water can flow both ways.

I would like to buy this hood but dont know what size to buy. The size chart refers to height and weight, which are not applicable to head size nor to a good hood fit. Is there a place to know, given a head circumference, the appropriate size of hood to order?

Unfortunately every wetsuit manufacturer uses a generalized chart to determine hood size. Basically it is simply "most people of such abc wore xyz sized hood" And that is all the information they relay to retailers. It is typically the only product in scuba that we have to rely on the consumer to have an idea what size hood they may require based on other products (helmets, hats, etc...) purchased in the past.
