Rating: Excellent temperate glove
Reviewer: Derek G.
They dry 5 is an exceptional product it is super flexible which makes performing task underwater a sinch. It provides a great amount of warmth. Only problem I have is that for me they are not actually dry as they should be because I need to wear a large to accommodate for the length of my fingers but I have small wrist so the wrist seals dont do much to keep water out.

Rating: Pyro strech gloves

Have tried gloves in our local lake. Average temp. 6 degrees C. When used with silicone seals sandwiched between gloves two cuffs they were warm and dry. They are a little difficult to remove but I think a little talk will solve this problem. All in all a good alternative to traditional dry glove systems.

Rating: Nice and warm

I had them out in 30% weather, I stayed warm and dry. Unfortunately they are a bit stiff if you are using them for paddling like me I would go with a thinner glove.

Rating: Excellent Gloves - although tough to stay dry
Reviewer: Jared Davis
The dry aspect of the gloves is slightly misleading, and almost impossible to put on by yourself. If you put the dry glove seal over your dry suit seal, the gloves become wet gloves. I wear mine like this. The 5mm thickness definitely keep my hands warm, and once the water in the gloves warms with by body temp, they are very comfortable and I dive in the Pacific Northwest where temps are routinely in the 40s. If you put the dry glove seal under your dry suit seal, the gloves do remain dry on the inside. My girlfriend wears the gloves in this configuration and does not get cold in 40 degree water. You cannot put the clothes on without assistance in this configuration.

I love these gloves. Warmer than my 7mm Hyperstretch Hendersons. Ive tolerated 36 degree bottom temps with no issues. Great dexterity! Recommended highly - a nice alternative to mitts. Use dish soap to make donning easier.

I have Renauds (white finger) and these great gloves keep my hands functional for at least an hour. They take some doing to properly put on solo, but well worth it.

Rating: Great Gloves.
Reviewer: Nicholas Mason
We go winter diving in Puget Sound where the water temp is 44F (March 1). We were using 5mm gloves and our dives were limited by our hands getting too cold. We purchased a pair of these for each of us and are hands stay nice and warm. They arent water tight so some water gets in, but it seems to stay in and warm up. Also, we both agree they seem to be a size too large. Getting them on isnt too bad, just roll the wrist up, put it on, and roll it back down. Dont expect to do much with them on through. I recommend them and would get them again.

Questions and Answers for XS Scuba 5mm Dry Five Pyrostretch Dry Gloves:

  • Marci:

Thanks, Darrick. Are there dry gloves and dry socks or boots that you can recommend that will keep the water out? Im trying to keep chlorine out.... Its destroying my finger and toe nails so I definately dont want to soak them in a layer of the water! Thanks again...

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Marci, the only gloves I have that will keep your hands totally dry are the: http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-27/121121/ScubaPro-Easydon-Dry-Diving-Gloves.html. As for the boots no manufacture makes one that will keep your feet totally dry.

  • Marci:

Hello! You all recommended these gloves as waterproof gloves for swimmers. Reading through the comments, they seem like they might be too warm (I swim in heated, chlorinated pools). Can you recommend gloves and boots that will keep the chlorinated water out completely, but are easy to get off and on and wont overheat me? Thanks so much for your help and expertise.

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Marci, the only product that is made to keep you totally dry is a dry suit. All wetsuits, gloves, boots, and hoods are designed to trap a thin layer of water between the material and your body. Then over time your body will warm that water up and then the inside material will reflect the heat back to your body to help keep you warm.

Maintenance

Clean your XS Scuba wetsuit after every use. Hand wash in fresh water and rinse thoroughly. Air dry by hanging out of direct sunlight. Never put your wetsuit in a washing machine or dryer. This will cause damage. Do not expose to detergents or chemicals. Chlorine and sunlight will cause fading to the color of the fabric. Store properly using a wetsuit hanger in a cool and dry place.
