Rating: bombproof

I have worked in the airline industry before and have seen how baggage is handled. So when I started checking my dive equipment I always worried what shape it would be in when it arrived. I also saw what kinds of baggage worked the best and survived the daily bumps and tumbles. Although, this case is not airline rated...this will keep your stuff safe. It is heavy...so watch the weight of what you put inside. The present extra charges by the airlines for second bags and excess weight make you think of what you can leave behind, what you must take, and what you can rent on the spot. If you want to take it and want to protected...this is what you want. Buy it!

Rating: Great for Protection, but HEAVY!
Reviewer: Andrew Clisbee, Tuesday, September 19, 2006 - View all my reviews
I bought my pelican case to take on a dive trip to Bonaire in May. It did a great job standing up to the rough baggage handling of several different flights. The thing is a tank - basically indestructable. In addition, it is waterproof, so if you have to travel with wet gear, it doesnt soak everything in your car.
The case is very heavy, though. At around 30lbs empty, you hit your 50lb limit for most airlines before you get all your gear inside. Normally when I travel with it, I end up either packing a smaller carry-on for my regs, camera, and lights, or just paying the additional fee to get a 75lb bag.

Rating: Protect Underwater Camera Equipment
Reviewer: Anne D., Sunday, March 04, 2007
I purchased my Pelican to house and protect my Sea&Sea housing for my Nikon, the ports and all related equipment. I have been very impressed with the strength of the piece, and the perimeter seal is first rate.
The size is a bit daunting at first, but at some point you just have to realize that underwater photography carries extra baggage fees. Lewis and Clark makes a TSA approved cable lock, which is perfect for this piece.
Ive tried less-expensive alternatives before moving to Pelican - what Ive learned is that you get what you pay for.

Rating: Best Scuba Case
Reviewer: Neftali Zazueta, Tuesday, September 19, 2006 - View all my reviews
Although not specifically designed for divers. This is by far the best case or scuba bag I have owned. It is incredibly tough, yet stylish. Excellent for travel or local dives. I can fit all my scuba gear, including semidry-wet suit (big) and I still had the chance to carry my friends weights. This case is perfection on wheels.

Rating: Now this is a "Hard Shell" hard to beat case
Reviewer: James Paulus, Thursday, January 11, 2007
Took this on my first trip to Cabo and found it to be a really great case to hold everything one needs and still have room left over.
A little heavy, so be prepared to pay a little extra at the airport for an oversize bag.
I wish it had individual compartments to hold goggles and regs, but overall, its a dynamite case.

Rating: This is One Great Case!!!
Reviewer: Martha S., Monday, April 02, 2007
We have the bigger Pelican case, but taking it on trips was difficult. It was always overweight and the charges were outrages!! We both purchased the 1650, it fits all of our equipemnt. Weve never had a problem with the weight and of course, it is a Pelican. We love it!

Rating: Tough box
Reviewer: Jeffrey Wagner, Monday, June 04, 2007 - View all my reviews
The box stood up well to its first trip to Cozumel very well. The only complaint I have is that it is kind of heavy for airline luggage. I was limited to 50 pounds total and it weighs almost half of that. Makes a pretty comfortable place to sit while waiting in line too.

Rating: Great Case
Reviewer: Nancy Holcomb, Friday, October 27, 2006
I was able to get all of my electronics equipment into the case, and I feel much better having them on the boat knowing they are protected. I wish there had been some thinner foam included. I had to purchase some separately. Overall, very satisfied.

Rating: Pelican 1650 case
Reviewer: Geoffrey C., Tuesday, March 06, 2007 - View all my reviews
This bag performed flawlessly in all aspects IE: plenty of room for both video and still photograhy equiptment. Large rollers and plenty of latches for a secure closure.I would give this Item a big thumbs up.

Rating: Pelican 1650 roller case
Reviewer: Michael K., Thursday, January 11, 2007
The case looks like it would be durable, but weighs 36 lbs. If used to travel (mainly flights), very little can be put in the case without having to pay increased luggage fees.

Rating: More than a fridge...

I love it, I can almost put more stuff in this case than in my refrigerator :0) And for the price, you can beat that. Seems nothing could destroy it too.
