Rating: Just My Opinion
Reviewer: Jim Bovill
Ive always bought Henderson Products , Ive had other wetsuits but Henderson gives you the best quality and the fit is the best .. The price was just right & I would recommend it to anyone .. Now as for the FREE wetsuit heater well I cant really say anything about it , because I am a Tropical Island Diver , Im getting to old to dive in cold water , The bones wont take it anymore , But I think it is a great Idea and it should do the trick .. Thats Just My Opinion ... Jim Bovill

This is a great wet-suit for the Caribbean sea, water is always on the 80s zone so theres no need for a full suit, very comfortable and easy to fit.

Purchased this shorty for a dive trip to Key Largo and the lower Keys last month. I wore just a skin one day and the shorty for two days. Loved the shorty! Very confortable and extremely easy to get into. Would buy another one just like this one.

Rating: Henderson 3mm Thermoprene Shorty serves more bounce to the ounce!
Reviewer: Lisa M. A.
Fact is, Im a big woman. Im into the range of the specialty sizes listed on manufacturers like Henderson - and some dont even list them at all. So when Im faced with the possiblity of special orders and custom made items with exorbitant costs, I turn to scuba.com and start trolling the closeouts and clearance for larger mens sizes. This time I was preparing for a dive in tropical weather, and wanted my OWN shorty instead of the ragged scraps often served by dive shops in the area. I found this item among a number of others - it was a out of the box demo, so I took a risk (my risk taking with scuba.com is often VERY rewarding) and got it. Once arrived, the thing was pure magic. I still had issues with length and some joint areas, but for the money I paid, it was absolutely solid! The give was terrific, and movement felt very fluid and natural. The zipper getting in and out was very easy to use, and the thickness was perfect for a repeated dive in weather that turned out to be colder than usual for Cozumel. I would highly recommend this shorty, especially to other women like me faced with limited budget and a little more bounce to the ounce!

Questions and Answers for Henderson 3mm Thermoprene Shorty Wetsuit:

  • Nancy:

    I am 260# 5 7", What size should I get

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Any time you size a suit using the manufacturer's sizing charts the 2 most important measurements would be your chest/bust measurement and your waist measurement. Height is a secondary measurement after that. Generally speaking, unless you are borderline all the way across the charts, you can discard the weight reading on the sizing chart. More often than not it will only serve to confuse things.

  • Dave:

I am 280# 519" What size suit do I need Dave Bates

Clarke  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Dave, Thank you for your inquiry! Based on the information you have provided, we recommend a 6XL in the Henderson 3mm Thermoprene Shorty Wetsuit. http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-258/056744/Henderson-3mm-Thermoprene-Shorty-Wetsuit.html If you have other questions, need help or would like to place an order, please contact SCUBA.com by calling 800-247-2822 <> 949-221-9300 or e-mail us at: info@scuba.com

  • Dan:

I am 62", weight 214, waist 36. Do I still need a size 3XL shorty, based on the height given in the sizing chart? Thanks! ~Dan

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Unfortunately we don't have all the info to make the advice for you. The most important measurements any time you purchase a wetsuit using the manufacturer's sizing charts will always be your waist and chest/bust measurements. The suit needs to fit your torso correctly in order to do its job properly. Keep in mind there is no such thing as a comfortable wetsuit on the surface. You want it to be snug, but not cut off circulation to your extremities. The more snug it is, the thinner the layer of water your body is heating. If its too loose you will remain warm for awhile, but eventually your body won't be able to keep up with the greater amount of water flowing through the suit and you'll wind up getting cold faster. After that your height is a secondary measurement. The manufacturers realize that generally speaking your boots and gloves can overlap slightly short arms and legs, or the diver can push or roll up longer sleeves and/or arms if need be. Weight is a measurement the diver can usually ignore. It really has little to no bearing what so ever on the sizing and fit of your suit. The manufacturers do not take into account muscle being more dense than fat, so based simply on fitness levels 2 people can be the exact same size but quite different in weight. This measurement should only be used if the person is literally on the fence between 2 sizes in all categories.
