this slate has several good features: 1)the option of using either a velcro strap or elastic bands to hold it in place (i prefer the elastic bands) 2)the solid carbon stick pencil (as opposed to the "putt-putt golf" pencils of other brands) and 3)the slate leaves are held together with a thick elastic band instead of less robust o-rings. the only thing that keeps this from being a 5-star product is the ease with which the pencli can be pulled loose from the lanyard (i almost lost the pencil the first time i dove with it).

This item came shipped to me exactly as it was depicted on the website. It is a really quality piece. I wont be able to rate how it works for the manner in which it was produced as I will be using it in military (on land) operations. I have no doubt it will fit my needs as I have seen these items in use for that purpose. Shipping was quick and it was packaged nicely as well.

Another excellent Dive Rite product at a reasonable price. After breaking two cheaper slates I bought this one and it has worked out much better.
