Rating: The right tool
Reviewer: Brad Hinton, Monday, January 24, 2011
Ok, so have you ever wanted to say something that was complex, and didnt learn the hand signal for it? I mean, really, how do you say, "Lets go find the chain near the sea lion buoy"? Not to mention, having enough dive slate to say all that, and still log dive notes while you are finding the chain. Right? Well, this tool will let you talk and talk and talk, and keep erasing what is said, and also, let your buddy write, with the long string connected to the pencil/magnet pen. You have a reversible slate and magnetic board for all you could ever want to say. Only draw-backs are its a slight bit weildy, and weak at the connector ring. Very good tool to have for deep or night diving, where its dark.

Rating: great way to communicagte

Hand signals are a must but this slate makes communicating much easier. It is easy to use repeatedly because it can be erased after every use. I did add a connection which allowed the slate to be pulled out from the bc without detaching it. It is difficult to write on and reattach when just attached to a d ring with the attachment as is.

Rating: Great Slate

Just like the Magna Doodle you had when you were a kid, only this one works underwater and attaches to a big kids BCD. My wife has a purple one and she loves doodling little messages to me during our dives. It has an erasable side and a non-erasable side for dive table and safety stop reminders. Great product...

Rating: The best slate around!
Reviewer: HENRY FONT, Wednesday, August 29, 2007 - View all my reviews
i really like this slate because you can use the magnetic slate side to write (and erase messages) quickly and you can also use the plastic slate (in the opposite side) for information that you want to keep. the slate folds in such a way that a cover protects the magnetic side when it is not in use. the size of the slate is perfect to fit inside "dive rite waist pockets". the slate comes with a stylus/pencil use the stylus for the magnetic side of the slate, and use the pencil for the plastic side of the slate.

Rating: Somehwere in between

I had purchased the large quest slate writer but didnt like the way it was attached to my BCD, I then bought this quest writer thinking it would be better but its not. It just hangs and again I find the string attached to the pencil awkward, it is always getting in the way just like the other quest. any chance you can attached a retractable pencil? Or something other than that loose string. This is my 3rd writing slate I have bought and none quite yet seem to be comfortable to use. Thank you for allowing me to express my opinion.

Rating: An ideal slate
Reviewer: Andrew Veech, Monday, September 25, 2006 - View all my reviews
i was searching for the right writing slate: one with a large enough writing surface one that printed, crisp, clear lines underwater rather than smudgy ones and one that was easily erasable. i found all of these traits in the innovative mini-quest slate. the hinged, plastic covering to the writing surface is the slates sole drawback (its kind of difficult to open, especially with gloved hands). otherwise, the slate is a great choice.
