I wear a size 13 shoe will a size 12 fit me. I read a few coments on these fins that say they run big. What do you think.
Hello Ernie, I do not find that is the case. The size 12 is from 11-12 so no I do not think this will fit you they way they should. If you are looking for a size 13 full foot fins I would suggest the Aeris Velocity Full Foot Dive Fins. web link: http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-21/013815/Aeris-Velocity-Full-Foot-Dive-Fins-for-2011.html. Hi, Im currently using mares wave FF fins and the fit is just right. Size of my wave fins are 44/45. Which U.S size should i get for the Avanti superchannel FF? Thanks
You have sold me on these fins but Ive read it highly recommended to wear them with some type of dive socks to prevent chafing? I dont need the socks for warmth. Lycra or Neoprene? Any specific suggestions? Also, my foot is about 8.5. Should I buy the right size or size up to fit with socks?
I always use a dive sock for full foot fins. Check out the ocean quest lycra socks. They are "one size fits all" Here is the link below. http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-112/110943/Ocean-Quest-6oz-Premium-Lycra-Fin-Dive-Socks.html

Channel Thrust: Soft longitudinal inserts allow a controlled deformation of the fin blade while kicking. This channel shape moves a greater amount of water resulting in more thrust for the same effort. Mares design is inspired by marine mammals.
Latest development in Channel Thrust is the Superchannel. The blade is designed with a large flexible central Superchannel propelling water-flow more effi ciently down the fin blade instead of letting it spill over the sides for optimal performance and minimal diver effort. The limiting factors in traditional open heel foot pockets are their weight and the “parachute effect”.
When finning, water gets into the space between the bootie and the foot pocket, creating drag like the air in a parachute. The perforations prevent this and have the additional benefit of making the foot pocket very soft and flexible. Furthermore, the suction effect which can make doffing of the fins cumbersome, is now forever a thing of the past.
Full Foot Fin Pockets: The full foot fin pocket was designed in consultation with specialized orthopedic institutes to provide optimal comfort and achieve maximum efficiency in the fin stroke. The unique positioning system for the stiff section and the soft section of the sole, makes the fin easy to put on and take off, and also provides for optimum transfer of power to the blade without sacrificing yield or risking excessive stress on the foot, which could cause cramping.
